I think this brand is don Julio sr grandson. The guy you met was don Julio jr who recently passed. Lalo is actually Eduardo González son.
ABOUT TIME YOU GUYS DO MORE TEQUILA
Lalo is a bit of a headscratcher for me. Beautiful presentation and story and a well made tequila. However, this is not a sipper I crave to go back to sip on nor does it have the potency needed to punch through in a cocktail. The notes that came to mind was raw to fully cooked agave and mint (what came to mind was Ocho plata - like it a lot more w/more complexity). The mouth feel - I'd almost say is creamy and melted butter like which is kind of unique and something to applaud. I tend to like more Viscus/oily like mouth feel from say NOM 1579. I want some more complexity and bite in my blanco that this just doesn't have. Someone said one-demensional which I'd agree with.. If it's stays at it's price point this could be a great pickup. I have some vodka drinkers in my family and they tend to like this expression which is interesting. Probably because of its "smoothness". Because of all the high praise I find myself/forcing myself to like it more than I do. Anything that's additive free and well made is aces in my book. But I have to say this is the middle of the pack for the other options out there ex. Terralta, Yeyo, Viva Mexico, Suerte, Ocho, G4 etc.

Lalo not able to punch through a cocktail is my thoughts exactly. It was totally overwhelmed in a Tommy's-style margarita when it should've been the star. I enjoyed the original release more than the bottle I currently have open. It's okay, but lost some character from the original release, and the current hype isn't justified. Won't buy another bottle after I finish the current one.
I agree, it’s good but nothing crave-able about it. I continue to reach for my G4 or even Herencia Mexicana over this

Did a blind with G4 and El Tesoro. Lalo was good but those definitely outshined it.

this has been my go to mixing tequila for some time, Nice to see more people enjoying a solid choice. I still recommend you guys trying Cayeya single barrel rep and anejo through for sipping. Would love to get your opinions on it.
I thought Lalo was ok + it went into the bottles destined for mixed drinks. Not a sipper like Cascahuin, Wild Common, etc. BTW the Wild Common still strength gets my vote for best blanco I had this year.
You should try gran dovejo high proof. I thought the flavor was intense and divine. Still can't find WC SS 😢

LALO is a great tequila. I finally got my hands on it. It’s not too bold and not too bland. It’s lite and complex… not too fiery.
I really like the depth of agave in the Lalo. SUPER drinkable, I finished it off pretty quickly. Will definitely buy again
I talked to a rep from Lalo last week. They will never come out with a repo or anejo. A high proof blanco is going to be released soon

I really liked lalo i thought it was a veemry delicious example of "this is agave". Very friendly, very drinkable. A perfect tequila to get people started on the tequila journey.
Maybe I’m simple, but I love how agave forward it is. It’s a top 10, maybe top 5 blanco.

How does this stack up to el Tesoro or tequila ocho? To those that have had both.
Hey Dutch, I got bitterness on the finish on Ocho Plata San Jeronimo, and no one else on Facebook agrees. Palates are independent and individual.

Lalo...a well made, mid-grade blanco that wasn't my jam. My favorite sipping blancos under $40 are Tapatio, El Bandido Yankee, Tanteo, and Real del Valle. Espanita gets a mention as my favorite blanco mixer.

I’m surprised this got a 75 when ocho got a 78! Ocho in my opinion would be much higher but great video!
Public opinion, tequila lovers opinion, on this bourbon over the past few months has just exploded. Lalo really is a big up an comer and I, for one, can't wait to see whats next from them.
Asthetics can’t be a 5 out of 5. What if they release a special edition, single barrel, or still strength? Those would be a 5.

El Jimador is the best tequila out there. Prove me wrong.
Wrong! Jose Cuervo Silver is #1. It has a better laundry detergent and medicinal taste to it thanks to the acid carefully selected by the distillery of Casa Cuervo. I do quite like the artificial fruits and astringent alcohol burn of El Jimador though.
