You are right about the lmb pie Gaz. It was a bit of a cop out being minced lamb. The only thing is that chunks or cubes of lamb would probably be a lot more money as lamb is so expensive now. Anyway I enjoyed the video, keep up the good work.👍
They can mince up the off cuts of lamb and that's a lot cheaper to then produce the pie. So I'd expect it to be honest. I'd love to try a proper lamb and mint pie from a good pie shop or butchers. The idea sounds beautiful lol
Nice looking pie. I love minced lamb. I get my lamb from a farmer up the lane from my house. I have a whole lamb for £120 and get the shoulder minced. It’s heavenly quality.
🐑 🐑 Hey Gareth!!!!! I have me a Lamb shank in the refrigerator, that I cooked, I cooked Two, ate one, I also have the gel in the pot, I eat that several portions as it is Lamb Collagen, Very Healthy, for our bones, joints and connective tissue. 💪 💪 also good to help arthritis pain, works for some. ❤ 😊
My local Iceland store was selling chunky lamb and mint pies, 2 in a pack, used to buy them every week but they stopped selling them around last September. Maybe its worthwhile checking in your local store, they were great !
Hi there, another great video like always. I do like lamb and mint Giannis pasties. We do make them ourselves but I would definitely give that a try myself another brilliant video like always
Good evening Gareth. We often make the mistake of watching your videos before we’ve eaten. Fatal mistake when hungry. We didn’t tonight though as we’d eaten a bit earlier. So as I’d made an old school cake in the week with jam and coconut on the top, and custard, we had the last of it tonight whilst watching your video. No thinking ‘oh, I could just eat that now’ like we normally do. Love your videos. 👍
Before she passed away, my mother would always knock out pies of various types usually filled with the hand minced remains of the Sunday joint. My favourite was when she had made a plate pie filled with lamb. We would have the roast lamb on the Sunday lunch, with roasted potatoes or mash and carrots and string beans, then on the Monday all the remaining joint was carved off the bones and split into two piles, one to be served as cold cuts for that day’s evening meal possibly with chips or in sandwiches and the remaining meat as I said went into a plate pie sometimes she would put a slice or two of bread or any cold potatoes would be put through the hand mincer to get all the meat out of it and then it all went into the deep pie case to be cooked for either Wednesday or Thursday night’s evening meal accompanied with some potato scollopswith peas and the last of the gravy from the Sunday dinner and always if we had lamb we would make our own mint sauce with fresh mint from the garden, it was the only herb that we grew at home for many years.
Another great review, I agree would be lovely with chunks of lamb but guess it is a cost thing. I love lamb and mint sauce so will give this a go with some mash and veg and gravy and some more mint sauce x
I think it is lovely that you always read your comments. I appreciate it must be hard to keep on top of the comments now your channel has grown. Your wife and family must be very proud of your success❤xx
I'm all lambed out now fella as we had a leg of lamb roast yesterday and a lamb and apple doorstep sarnie for lunch today. Cheers for the update, chilli and jacket spuds for scran here later. 👍
Nice review Gaz and the filling didn’t look to bad for volume but I agree with you about chunks of meat and a nice touch with reading out some comments keep up with the great reviews 👏👏👍👍
Yeah take us on location when you drive to Lidl. You've really made it as a food channel when you take us for half hour walks around a supermarket.😁. This one looks pretty tasty. I doubt ALDI have these in Australia but I'll take a look next time. ps I have had a chocolate pie (as opposed to a choco pie). It was disgusting.
Would make a good Dinner with additional on the Plate. You're right about the Lamb content, but it looks like there's a decent amount in the pie, which is always welcome. Top video, top Man .... Thanks, Gareth 👏👍😉
Hi Gareth, that was a nice surprise thanks for reading my comment out. I have both a Lidi and an Aldi where I live, I mostly go to Lidl as it's nearer and has a load of other shops around it. It looked ok but I agree with you it should have had pieces of lamb rather than mince. I think the farm shop ones were a lot better value as they looked home made. A lot of things in Aldi are more or less similar to Lidl. Anyway another good review
Hi Gareth , went to Browns the other day and someone had gone in and told them about you going in , they were chuffed to bits . We got pies as you had recommended and they were delicious. X
Oh no,what a cop out,I was well excited by the video title and thought yes I’m gonna pick one of these up,but as the review went on I thought you would be better off back at that farm shop you reviewed the other day,get a proper pie and be fully satisfied with cost and quality when comparing to other supermarket options, cheers Gareth you helped me make my mind up about where to funnel my money, top job👍
Hi gaz good review. I wonder who first decided to use mint withlamb? Probably the same bloke who decided to put tomatoe sauce on his chips😂. All best steve👍
Less than a quarter of it is actually lamb, 18% butter, 42g fat (19.8g saturated fat, RDA is 20g!) per pie. The filling looks good just not enough of it. Another great video BFG. Morecambe Lidl road trip??? ....... have I got to come up there and drive you myself. 🤣
Thanks for the review Gareth, I agree with you on this one, for the price you paid I would of expected proper pieces of lamb, and more gravy, I couldn't really see the gravy, very sparce, looked ok though,

Hi John. Im sure Canada does have fantastic food too. You probably just haven't discovered it all yet. But thanks for complimenting British food. Fish n chips is my favourite. 👍.
G'day Gareth. Mate the pie looks good enough to eat. O wait, you did. I would fill the pie's cavity with mash potato, pour gravy over it and replace the lid. But you're here to review the pie, not make a meal of it. Reasonably priced and value for money. It would be good if it were available as a family sized pie to share. As always, a great review. The reading of the comments is good too. Cheers Gareth 👍🤤😀
Hi Gareth, I tried the Aldi mint pie yesterday with some new potatoes, peas and sweetcorn. The pie seemed to get lost and didn’t deliver much flavour. Aldi do other gourmet pies, which are much better. I enjoy your reviews on everyday food that real people buy…..keep up the good work!
OK Gareth, we are done lol. You are driving me crazy with all your English food , from Asda or as we say here Walmart. Over here it’s so hard to find good old British food. I drool over your videos but lamb, well ya crossed the line today All the Best Dave🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🏴☠️

Not chunks of lamb but still looks ok and always nice to see vegetables in a pie I think being minced lamb it makes it look more filled with meat but does take away the chunky meat texture and taste And the peel test worked showing us the filling
I consider myself lucky. I have a Lidl and an Aldi within 5 minute drive of from where I Iive. I also have have an Iceland close by, but parking is pretty bad for that shop due to it's location in a high street. I just don't buy food products from these stores. I also buy tools and electrical goods at bargain prices. Each week I get to choose food from differential countries, which I love to try out. But their fresh meat, like chicken, steak and pork is top notch compared to other stores. I've never had a complaint yet.
I'll be looking for that lamb pie next time I go,it looked delicious n generously filled,Aldi products are very good I think n worth the money spent! Great vid buddy always good to hear your honesty n verdict 👍👏.
We do a lot of Lamb and Mint Burgers here in Wales in Butchers and Restaurants. Not so much in pies.Mostly Leek with Lamb in Pies.If that pie was slow cooked Lamb and like you said chunks of lamb in it would be better and look better on the package.I do like what Wine to go with it on the back of box though

Well Gareth it looks very tasy, nice portion for one I think, and the price seems nice. I would have it with mash and extra gravy, maybe some tomato and cucumber on the side
Another great review from "The Man" 👍👍. This pie could've done with a bit more gravy though. Minced meats in pies doesn't bother me much. Your earlier reference to Sheperds Pie for example? I would say that 99.9% of recipes are made with minced lamb. To be fair by using minced meats helps in a way to reduce the cost, as minced meats generally use cuts of meat that are not normally sold, but you still get the texture and flavour in the meat. As for the £2.49 price tag? I don't think it's too pricey due to the cost of lamb today. It looked good and you said it was tasty, but for me it should have more gravy 🥴🥴. That said, just another great review, which is why I'm addicted to your channel. 👍👍👍.
Nearly bought this the other day when I went to stock up on those chicken Yorkshire pudding dinners. I got their cheaper normal deep fill steak pie instead, which was nice btw. This lamb pie looks a bit crap for the money. Oh and I went to Lidl today and they also do the same Yorkshire pudding chicken dinner.

I normally don't eat pies but I was in Morrisons late one night and they were selling off all the pies for pennies and bought a meat and potato one I think it was. Anyway I nearly choked and passed out when I read the packaging afterwards and saw that one pie alone had something like 1000 calories in it
Minced lamb shoulder can hide a lot of saturated fat allowed with little meat. Just a manufacturers way to add value to unwanted cuts of meat. I do not always agree with your taste buds but, I always respect your honesty.
Not enough lamb and mint things. Hard to get lamb burgers too. £2.49 is pretty good for that mate, the same pie at M&S would be 4 quid at least, and I haven’t been blown away by theirs lately. I like a minced beef and onion/potato pie so I think this should be pretty nice
You are right about the lmb pie Gaz. It was a bit of a cop out being minced lamb. The only thing is that chunks or cubes of lamb would probably be a lot more money as lamb is so expensive now. Anyway I enjoyed the video, keep up the good work.👍

Lamb a dang a ding dong rkid looks smashing
It's the future 😮
Legend.Hablve you tried the Harry Ramsdens steak pie from Iceland?
I had one tonight and I think it's the nicest steak pie I've ever had
Yes I've reviewed that one, very good but expensive.
@@BaldFoodieGuy agreed.Good job you're loaded
You have had a few pies lately Gareth, how is the diet going lol. You want a pie full but you are right you cant beat a farm or local butchers.
Yes my diet 🤣
