@@stakuyi while it takes 70 days to board a train for ethiopia, the ai will go and do second ethiopian war focus first. However it doesnt take long before they do few focuses in that part in a tree and go board a train. it is designed so we as a italy have a chance to capitulate them rather than haveing to deal with constant resistance issues as ethiopia just increases it.

This is more of a multiplayer game focus, you agree with the German player and be the equivalent of a healer for the Germany and Italy.

There should be a mechanic that when neither side has made any gains or losses that it becomes a stalemate

You were being CTA Vs Ethiopia because Haile Selasie boarded the train and is thus a gov-in-exile, so he's still at war with the axis
on the thing with ethiopia, that is because they completed their focus to go abroad and try to build support for their cause. the italian a.i doesnt kill ethiopia within that 70-105 day time period
(on historical). once that occurs they join the allies as a government in exile and do decision/focus tree stuff to give italy omega resistance in ethiopia.
due to strange design (I'm honestly unsure) italy cant outright annex ethiopia once they do this, despite not being at war with anyone in the allies.
it also means they cant leave the state of war. its. weird.
Not only that, but it breaks one of the Portuguese focuses that gives you a decision that lets you buy ships from the UK or Italy, they're required to be at peace to initiate the trade deal so you basically can never do the Italian trades.
Just a point Stakuyi, Swiss Roads are widely regarded as the best in Europe. So I for one am perfectly happy with this situation.

I had it and had decent fun, but becoming free as a komisariat is straight ass, and you cant get northern italy since the focuses are dependent on your master/Vichy owning the states

I have zero idea how to play this game or what is the end goal, yet I still enjoy to watching it.
Basically block out a full day to devote to the game, and you will still not have a full idea on how everything works but you may finish one game
The goal can be whatever you want really. You can attempt to play as historically accurate, basic survival, world domination or anything really
The goal is to get the good numbers up like factory count so you get that sweet sweet dopamine rush

i realized a thing you could do
when u are in the axis DO NOT JOIN ww2 until France has capitulated, thus, giving acces to Vichy France to exist.
What u could do here is invade vichy france and try to spam some random submarines to get supremacy and later steal their fleet
then YOU JOIN WW2 and with the vichy french fleet u can naval invade Britain
idk if this works, might test it
You can do both the Allies and Axis Gold and stack that benefit up to 6 times.
You already get 6 from trading with both Italy and Germany, so long as you didn't delay it until Italy joins the Axis and is no longer a trade partner.

Yeah, I feel like after the Soviets capitulated, it would probably have been more interesting to just disband the entire army and put all the mills into naval bombers.
I'm not saying it would have been interesting to watch, mind you, but it probably would have been at least marginally more interesting to play.

Most focuses make sense to some extend. Even the facist focuses aren't unrealistic. And they take so long because irl it would take so long.
Such things as banning democratic parties if you have 80% facism is realistic. As the nationalist party would be democratic itself in Switzerland.
Altho the federal/canton system is also quite bad as such a thing isn't really a balance and can never be changed that quickly.
Also disbanding militia is bad.
Staying with militia is always better and you get best infantry in the game which casually get 100-130 org and 2 to 3 k defense.

How do you not know, Ethiopia's historical tree has a focus to where you basically stay at war with Italy even while capitulated/annexed

The one irritating thing about this is that the Focus tree isn't bad, Stakuyi just can't play to it's strengths. But because he can't play the focus path the way he wants it "sucks". One of the main points of the tree is to piss off the French and start a war with them, not avoid it. As Switzerland, there's nothing the French can really do against you except throw away troops against the mountain fortresses.

The thing is you don't go fascist 1st, you do the left part of the tree first. Also decrease relations with Italy so that you can get a free italy. [Integrate the puppet]
Do a playthrough with one of the Nordic countries, like Finland or Sweden :D
It's also weird how you can more or less go down the none aligned path first before switching and going fascist.

Ethiopia went to the UN in OTL and thus cannot be capitulated until their host nation (Britain on historical, though France and Germany also can become hosts) is capitulated.
