- Ryan Guldemond is the lead singer and songwriter of the Canadian indie rock band Mother Mother that was formed in tandem with his sister Molly in 2005. His lyrics centre around candid descriptive experiences of love, family, and self-discovery. During the writing of the band’s second album No Culture, Ryan went through a transformative time of reinvention, partially inspired by Molly and the nostalgia spurred by writing in his hometown. I love how this is just naturally how ryan talks. this wasn't hammed up for the ted talk. he just speaks like this
Yeah he has a very interesting mind. Clear to see how he is so talented at writing lyrics.
Ryan is such a kind person. Despite how serious and ominous he looks at times, he is such a sweet person who deserves every bit of fame. Even more than that. I used to think he was a girl before fully getting into the band XD But he is still beautiful, talented and my main inspiration for trying to create my own band. Ya this dude is an amazing person. I was heading to one of his shows and saw him sitting at a table and totally interrupted his interview to say I was a huge fan and he was so chill about it. After he was done with his interview he found me in line pulled me aside had a full on conversation and I got a picture with him. I'll never forget that
Idk I think the "serious and ominous" look is just his face, or how music video directors tell him to look. But anyone can see he's a great guy.
@@brandonfeeney5602 he’s seriously the most genuine, kind person. my family and I saw MM live in 2015 when I was 13 and he talked with us for 2 hours super late after the show. made my whole life honestly, my parents raised me on MM’s music and now at 21 I get to see these beautiful people finally super successful as they deserve ❤️

I never knew Ryan Goldemond did a TED talk! This guys is incredibly inspirational and this just makes me love him and mother mother even more!
I used to secretly play mother mother's music on the speakers at the superstore (was a personal shopper at the time). They never found out and I got to dance to the awesome music to pass the time
Ryan has always been a huge source of inspiration to me, but this truly does take the cake. I'm amazed.
My mind is now blown by the fact that get out the way is based on oh holy night.

19:16 Love seeing really early versions of their songs. It's so cool that the first stages of "Until it Doesn't Hurt" were being created years before the song was complete.
He speaks so eloquently, it's great to see how his mind works, producing beautiful lyrics and melodies.

Thanks so much, Ryan, for the window into your creative process. The acceptance of our influences in whatever form they come from is so important. I think it's what separates a creative person from those who don't allow or acknowledge it, which is a pity because we won't ever experience their art.
