    How could desegregation be a mistake?

    • @asastovall
      @asastovall Před rokem +7

      Because all of the black professionals moved out of our neighborhoods leaving the young people nothing to look up to but drug dealers and gangs. Before desegregation all of our black businesses were in the neighborhood and were supported by black people. Our dollars stayed in our neighborhoods in turn making our neighborhoods stronger. Look at our neighborhoods now. We don't own anything. Foreigners own all the grocery stores gas stations etc. That's a partial reason why desegregation was bad for our people. I could go on but I'll let someone else add to what I started.

    My opinion is you can think of desegregation in two forms, physical and cultural.
    Physical desegregation is good, in the since that members of the black community should be able to work where they want, live where they want, go to whatever school they want and therefore be able to expand themselves through the opportunities that this freedom affords. Also, one of the best ways to fight racism is when people can be exposed to people of color and get to know them rather than just taking their perception from racist and bigoted images in movies, TV, social media and other outlets that can convey damaging misinformation and white supremacist views. Further, physical segregation is bad, because those who mean to do the black community harm have an easier job if blacks are physically located (i.e. red lining, jerrymandering, highways through your neighborhood, etc.).
    Cultural desegregation is bad, in the since that when people of color do not appreciate, support or even understand their own cultural identity.
    People of the black community must have the desire and conviction to establish and maintain their cultural identity and community, regardless of where they are physically located. I say establish, because the African American community is actually young, really only several hundred years old. Though it has largely been forged through slavery and racism, it none the less is strong, creative, resilient full of potential!! The community and family is where the heart is and if you don't define it, someone else will.

    What religion is Max? I would say modern Christianity creates weak men because it has been evangelized by Westerners with their Western bias but before that Christianity was just as strong, aggressive, and even violent as Islam. As for desegregation I completely agree.

    I agree with both! In regards to desegregation, I speak with elders all the time who are in there 80's to late 90's that say all they wanted was equal opportunities and rights. That was it! They never wanted to be around white people like that, because they knew it would have been detrimental to our community as a whole. It was large group of people everywhere that felt this way, but Martin Luther King was the "new kid on the block" who was charismatic, he had the support of the church, the backing of the NAACP, and celebrity star power. This lead the masses of people to follow more behind him and just go along with it, because they were looking for an influential leader that could reach politicians. We need to separate ourselves from them, now more than ever! The ish that we continue to go through is just too much! #bringbacksegregation

    MLK acknowledged close to his death that it was mistake. Also, I don't think it was "christianity" but moreso them knowing the truth of who we are and using various tactics to keep it from us. If you read Jesus' words you would know there was nothing passive about Him. He did what He came to do. There was nothing passive about that either.
