I love Little Free Libraries. I actually have one of my own. I love being able to put books that I love in there, so others can enjoy them as well.
Someday...someday I'll have my own! As of right now I just rent, so it wouldn't work, but someday! I love that you have your own. That's so fantastic! Thanks for the work I know goes into keeping it stocked and clean and usable!
I have one too! It was a dream of mine for several years before we finally purchased our own home.
Loved this! On Saturday I took my three year old out to some of our local LFL’s....I didn’t find anything for me but we found her a set of Elsa and Anna cardboard books that appear brand new! She was soooo happy!!!
Aww that's awesome! I just think LFLs is such a fantastic idea!
Omg I'm so jealous that you found a Stasi Eldredge book for free! I adore the two books I've read by her and find her indispensable. Haven't read Defiant Joy yet, but hope you love it!
I was pretty pumped about that too. Still need to read it. haha. Story of my life.
@@BooksAndJams I have over two hundred TBR books and I am going to start taking some of the ones I read to LFL'S and some to my bookstore to get credit.
Why would they have seating for a lecture right in the middle of the entrance? 😂 That’s just asking for interruptions.
Haha. It's a super small little place, so there is really no other option, but I wish there was a sign on the door...Lecture in Progress, please enter quietly. Or something simple like that! haha. Would have been nice to have a warning!
So many little free libraries! And such wonderful neighborhoods! Really enjoyed your vlog!
Thanks! It was a gorgeous day for this kind of adventure!
"Take a book....leave a book" is a motto of the Little Library. I always keep books in my car to leave when I come across a Little Library.
Me too! I have a box in my trunk ready to go either to LFL or the second hand bookstore. Love it.
Traveling across the country we stopped at independent bookstores along the way. Wonderful. I was surprised at how many are still in business. Filled a box.
What a wonderful way to travel the country!
I love the free library tour
Thanks! I am due to do another one soon.
I love getting to see little free Libraries! The blue one is really cute!
I loved that blue one...with the blue bench! So cute.
I totally forgot it had a bench. I was so focused on the cute flowers!
Loved this video! Thank you for taking us with you for your adventure!
It was a fun day! Thanks for watching!
I am new to your channel love it. You have inspired me to start reading again.
Thanks for letting me know that! It makes me so so happy!
These are some of my favorite videos!! We have one Free Little Library in our neighborhood, so far I've got one adult and 2 middle grade Caldercott winners. I need to look up more!
I wish there was one right in my neighborhood. I do quite a bit of driving around for these tours! haha.
I need to do my own LFL tour. There are a bunch of new ones in the area. How fun you find a bunch where you live! I love it! ❤️
Fun! Someday I'm going to do my own, like you do!
When You Reach Me is outstanding.
Good to know!
I love your LFL Tour videos! You’re so fortunate to have so many around you! 😊
I'm very thankful that's for sure. It was fun to see how many I could find!
If you want, you can report a library that’s been taken down on their website and they take it off the map. I did that for one that was reportedly near my new apartment but was not.
I feel like it is rare for me to find anything good at my local LFLs anymore-I mostly use them to get rid of books I don’t want and I suspect others think the same way.
Good to know. I had to do a ton of driving between all of these, so it is always frustrating to not find one where it's listed. Oh well. Yeah, most of them don't have books I'm interested in, but I still think it's such a great idea!
Oh yay I love this! There are a few LFL’s around my hometown, too. Such a great thing!
It was such a beautiful day to be out and about doing something like this. I always love seeing how people decorate their LFLs!
"Winner winner chicken dinner" 😄 We say that here all the time!
I was laughing at myself because several times I caught myself moving my head around to get a better look at the books on the shelves, like that was going to help me see what was out of frame 😂
SO much fun!
Thank you for taking us along ❤
Oh man. I was the worst and getting things in frame. So sorry about that!
@@BooksAndJams Oh no no no, I'm so sorry, I hope that didn't come off as being critical! I was laughing cause I felt like I was trying to look around with/for you...like I was going to see something you couldn't or something. I'm not explaining it right but believe me it wasn't you. It was an awesome video!
I didn't take it as critical. Just didn't realize til I was editing how poorly I shot all the books! haha. Glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful neighborhood that 2nd Little Free Library was in! I'm blessed to have dozens of LFL in my city. There are at least 6 - 8 just in my area. I have a little pattern I follow when I spend a half hour going to them. Though last round they all seemed to be a bit empty. LOL on your "epic" entrance. Don't be embarrassed, why would they have a lecture right at the front door without a sign warning patrons? Too funny. Chosen People by Robert Whitlow was pretty good. Seems like there is lots of David Baldaci in all these libraries. Nice to spend the day with you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you have a ton near you, which is so fun. Most of these were pretty well stocked, which is nice. I'm always a bit bummed when they're nearly empty.
lol hi! i'm new to your channel. i giggled a little when you entered and they were having a lecture. your response was so cute! haha :)
Welcome! I am so glad you're here. Oh man. I remember that day. It was a bit embarrassing! haha. Next time I'll read the signs on the door first!
Hi, I'm new to your channel and I loved it! I'm looking forward to more of your videos. 😊
Sweet! Hello, Liz. Welcome! I look forward to chatting books with you.
I love these kinds of Little Free Library videos. I wish every city had at least one. I have even considered putting one in front of my home. I would love to hear more about your crockpot chicken chili recipe!
I think they're such a great idea and yes! They should be in ever city! It takes someone to take the initiative though since they're all privately run. You should start one!
The chicken chili I make is super easy - dump all this in a crockpot -
about 2lbs of chicken (either cube it as you add it or shred it later),
4 cans of white beans (i use 2 cannelini and 2 navy or whatever I have,
1 little can of diced green chilis
about 4 cups of chicken broth (enough to cover)
about 1/2 bag of frozen corn
1 pkg McCormick white chicken chili seasoning (or look up the seasonings to add on your own...I've done both and both are yum!)
Cook on high about 4 hours or low for 6. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese, corn chips and either sour cream or plain greek yogurt. YUMMO!!
@@BooksAndJams Thanks so much for sharing your recipe with me. It sounds yummy!
@@BooksAndJams I made the white chicken chili today and yes it was yummy! Thanks for taking the time to share it with me! 😊
The thing about the map is that it is entirely dependent on the stewards to update the information. My city Rotary and historical society planted 10 of them 5 years ago. I have gone to 4 in the past month and only 1 of the 4 is still standing.
Yeah, that makes sense. I just wish the whole thing was a bit more user (or I should say phone) friendly.
I'm so sad that the only little free library in my village is gone because the people that owned it moved away 😭 Luckily I've found one in the city my boyfriend lives, so I will visit that one every now and then 😊
I know I'm lucky to have so many around me.
Sophie's War was one of the books I assigned my younger sister for history last year (I homeschool) and she labeled it as one of her favorites.
That's awesome that she loved it. I really enjoyed the one and only Avi book I've read so far, and definitely want to read more of his books. I love that you homeschool your sister!
I also live in Virgina but live in the southern part. love your videos.
Well Hi neighbor! Thanks for watching.
You've inspired me I'm going out today to the 3 Little Free Libraries near me
Awesome! I hope you have good luck! :)
@@BooksAndJams I did thank you, I ended only going to 2 but they were both amazing, 1 was made from a bench and the other one had a little garden and bench . I can't wait to go again
Hi! Chosen People was SO GOOD! I read it a few months ago. It led me to buy 6 other books by Robert Whitlow. Defiant Joy is very good as well.
I haven't heard anyone talk about Defiant Joy. Glad you liked that one. I don't think I've read anything by Robert Whitlow. Maybe I need to remedy that.
@@BooksAndJams he's a Christian author, most of his books, from my understanding, are law based/court type books but I'm very excited about them
This was fun seeing all the Little Free Libraries! I think there are only two within 30 minutes of my house.
I read When You Reach Me for Middle Grade March and unfortunately it was only 2 stars for me. But I think I have the unpopular opinion. I just found it very dull.
I love LFLs and am thankful that there are so many in my area! It was fun to do a tour of them. Hey, can I use a clip of your intro in a shoutout video I'm putting together?
Sure. Thanks!
The land of stories is a good series the author is on Glee
Yes. I used to love Glee. Sadly, I stopped reading the series after book 3. I just wasn't interested anymore.
The daughter of a friend had a baby shower, Books please. They are teachers.
Books are great baby shower gifts. You can never get too many!
A lot of people loved My Absolute Darling but I hated it...way too much gratuitous violence and every character is misogynist. It crosses too many lines for my taste!
Oh no! I will do a bit more research before deciding if I want to give it a try. Thanks for the heads up!
