- 📜 In this video we talk about the difference between the 35mm and 50mm lenses, regardless of the brand, on APS-C cameras.
In the first part I explain what are the characteristics of any lens, and which we can compare between the 35mm and the 50mm. Then I tell you which should be researched for each individual lens, as they are inherent to that specific model.
Next up we talk field of view, meaning how tight and how wide the lens allows you to see what's in front of you.
Right after we discuss compression, how each lens brings the background closer to the subject.
And finally bokeh, how much can they blur the background, or actually, what is more important here.
Last but not least, in the conclusion we analyze our results and decide finally which is better.

#35vs50mm #lenscomparison #photography
Really helpful video. Got to know everything I can before trying the lenses myself. Thanks and wish you the best!
Would love to know how you felt with them dear! Both are solid choices, hope you like it!
it was one of the most educational and detailed videos seen lately. All the best from Romania!
Thank you so much dear !! I've recently been there to Romania, loved it! Been to Sibil and Brasov! All the best from Italy !
@@FlyEnri too bad you didn't visit Cluj-Napoca ! :)
Best explanation I’ve seen on CZcams so far. Complimenti maestro! 😃
Thanks so much and thanks for watching! Which one did you choose? :D
For a long time I was thinking to get 50mm. But now, I’m sure :)
Finally I know which lens to choose. Thanks for this video. And Bologna looks amazing! ☺️
Glad to help!! Thanks for watching!!
Awesome video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Hi! Thank you so much for your video, I watched so many and yours was the most helpful! I have an idea on which lens to get with the recommendation you made at the end of your video, but I would like to confirm. I have to take photos and videos at music event of our vendor booth, our sales representatives, customers buying our products, and sometimes of artist playing music by standing with the rest of the audience or closer up to the stage. It doesn’t have to be professional but I would like to try my best to leave an impression to my department. With that being said what lens would you recommend? Ideally I would like a lens that focuses on my shot however doesn’t blur to much my background unless I adjust the settings.
Hi dear ! Definitely the 35mm if you need more of the context around you. 50mm is going to feel quite difficult to show everything, especially if you're using an APS-C camera ! Let me know how it goes !
For me, the 35 vs 50mm question is one I only ask when dealing with full-frame cameras.
I own and use the following prime lenses on full-frame film and digital cameras:
35mm f/1.4 Zeiss on Leica rangefinders
35mm f/1.4 Nikkor on Nikon SLRs
50mm f/1.4 Nikkors on Nikon SLRs
50mm f/1.4 Takumar on Pentax Spotmatic SLRs
On my APS-C digital cameras, I do not use any 35mm or 50mm prime lenses.
The closest I use are 55 and 56mm prime lenses and a 16-55mm zoom lens.
You've got quite an arsenal of lenses there! Great choices for APS-C also, they will give you a sort of 75mm look, pretty good, and the 16-55 covers the widest shots you might need.
such a wonderful presentation. it worth watching.
by the way, your mother is so pretty😍
Thanks BK ! My mother is not present in the video, but thanks anyways, hahahaha
@@FlyEnri oops…. Credit to the lady….
Thanks for the vid, which would you say is better for street photography?
Hi !! On APS-C, I'd say the 35mm, I love the 50mm look on it ! The 50mm feels often too tight for me, but some people really prefer that you can shoot from further away... I'd recommend trying both! It's a very personal choice :D Good photos !
@@FlyEnri I didn't realise there was such a price difference between them to be honest, I think that may dictate my decision sadly
How far from the model do you have to be to get the same frame with the 50mm as you would with the 35mm?
Hi Leonid !! There is a comparison about it using steps in the middle of the video, it's quite a bit of a difference, especially if you're in a closed space !
@@FlyEnri Yes I noticed. However, would you be able to recommend a more quantified answer? For example “X steps on 35mm ≈ Y steps on 50mm?” Lol
great
Thanks a lot !
I have both.
They are both great lenses :D But I'd probably go for more diverse ones, like 35+85 instead of a 35+50 combo.
2:15 "fixed zoom"?!
Mother or model
Hi Amith! Sorry, didn't understand !
Mate... the moment you've put these lenses on your crop sensor camera... it changes everything....it's a 50 vs 75 mm battle.
You should put that in your tittle otherwise you're going to confuse b3ginners
Hi Keith !! Thanks for the suggestion ! You're totally right considering what they actually look like on a crop sensor, but regarding search purposes I have to leave it as 35 vs 50mm. Beginners often don't know about this crop factor, and even those that do, don't search the video by 50 vs 75, even if it's really like that in the end :D Thanks for watching dear !
for me 35 indoor, 50 outdoor.
Love this combo !
