I am Scandinavian (Norway), and it looks like Way of the Hunter might have taken great inspiration from the Laplands in Finland, along with northern part of Norway/Sweden. I am really looking forward to this reserve, but I miss people to hunt with. So if anyone want to team up one day, just let me know! (Let's go for that 5 star Mallard duck!)
Euroasian lynx tufts on ears gets bigger when the lynx is growing. If this is a young one, there should be at least small tufts on top of their ears. Hmm. Please don't fuck up this majestic animal. About the artic fox. the white Arctic fox's fur is usually brownish-grey on the face, the back and the outside of the legs, while most of the sides and the underside of the body are greyish-white to yellowish-white. This looks to white. Depends on what season this map is played at. It actually look like late spring. Just when snow is almost gone. I don't know. Must see more gameplay.
I missed the hype with the animals, it reminded me of what COTW did to New England by recycling so many, so many potential of different animals in Scandinavia...
I was actually getting quite excited for this new map since I had lately been playing woth and enjoying it a lot. I am disappointed that we are getting a New England type situation in WOTH also Would’ve thought that they would create a crazy map to rival Sundarpatan
@@bumblewoot yeah I was actually really annoyed at the pretty much no new species, but what can you do. Maybe they knew that whatever they release can’t compete with Sundarpatan, so they decided to just leave a big release for another day and release something small for now
Haven’t played WOTH in some time. Not too exited for the new map and dlc. With Ultimate Hunting coming next year, WOTH needs to step up there game. Been playing Red Dead 2 trying to 100%. Fishing and hunting in that game is so much more fun.
I Google mapped it and it just comes up with places in Finland with that name in it. In addition the devs said the map is not based in a specific country 🤷♂️
Great video Bumble! I haven't playedd this game in quite awhile for various reasons and was hoping the new map would be more of a reason to open it back up again. But I must say, I probably wouldn't have purchased it. I'll have it since I got the Map Pack, but yeah, just seems very copy paste. It'll be a real swing and miss if the have the arctic fox but no snow on the map. I'm not sure if it's been confirmed either way yet. Lets hope that the gameplay updates are the good stuff! I'm concerned with how they seem to just follow in the tracks of COTW... I mean, New Zealand was great, but of the Nordic countries... i think Finland was a blunder, they could have chosen a different country and dared to stand out somewhat.
Would be cool to have a few surprise species on the map upon release - musk ox would be killer (though i know its highly unlikely). While I always look forward to this game and its developments, this map’s game list feels terribly underwhelming. They’ll still be getting my money, though!
Hopefully they sneak in polar bears lol. But seriously, I’m feeling pretty sad and disappointed about this. My disappointment started the other day when we all but knew it was going to be Scandinavia. Based on my knowledge of the region I figured that there wouldn’t be many new species. I hope they can pull things together after this one and do something new and exciting for the next map.
At least its not a Africa type map. I feel like they missed a good opportunity. I was hoping for a map with mountains, snow, like California!.. or Washington! Or Nevada ruby mountains! Or even elder scrolls 6. But non the less it still looks interesting
At the moment i am kinda worried that most of the animals are going to be copy and past from the other maps, I hope I'm wrong about that because you don`t want it to feel like it would be pointless , and for the amo changing part, Since i don`t play it through steam i wonder how it`s going to work on PS5?
@@bumblewoot yeah I personally don't mind, it is after all a game, I just find it weird after the whole ethical hunt thing they had going on in the story, with the creepy basement full of endangered species and such. Also roe deer would have made more sense than fallow, there's a lot more roe across Scandinavia where fallow is just located in specific areas
As much as I like way of the hunter, Idk why they did this... they put in an Arctic fox with full winter coat and no signs of it being winter anywhere, they also copy and pasted literally all but 2 or 3 species. I'm honestly hoping the update has more in terms of gameplay changes and improvements to justify the map being this bland.
Depends what season this is played at. They start to change their fur in april all the way to june. White artic fox have some brown-greyish on the face. Think the sides is more greyish-brown/greyish-yellow. As a whole the white artic fox should be more like brown-grey-silver. Well we will see when it is released.
I didn't stick around discord long but no one mentioned how awful the moose sounded in the trailer. Like some kind of bovine, the game has them sound ok but the trailer seems they took the audio file from a different species ugh the audio in the game. On a positive note the bear roar actually sounded like a bear where the game to me always sounds like a screechy broken megaphone. Please tell me people have been commenting on that super duper awkward neck/head angle on the reindeer picture. Wow that looks wrong! The 'lynx' fur looks so blocky, no fur texture feeling and mechanical. I wanna be positive bumble I oh so badly want to! I know for the sake of getting early access and stuff you have gotta stay positive for other reasons id bet haha. I love this game but lately so many bad tastes in my mouth with things. Guess I really really have to lower expectations. Oh and the arctic fox.. fur issues like with the lynx, feels so poorly textured and so far off from that 'real life' feeling I had with so many of the other animal species. You implied with the ammo change it could allow for caliber changes? Id assumed it just meant you could choose different grain and bullet types. Definitely hope you are right it would be great to change chamberings/barrels within the rifles and not just the ammo!
Hey Perry! Yeah they have a rough road ahead with this map I think. I have one theory, and that is they put a ton of time into different calibers for each rifle. Due to branding and licenses my assumption is that they will all chamber to the same options as their real world counter-parts. This would mean sounds and barrel changes. For example the steyr scout can take the .308. And the SSG M1 can take a .338. The SM12 can be chambered in something like 8 different rounds. Most of my hopes lie in this rifle modding 🤞
@@bumblewoot That's actually an encouraging theory!! I hope you are right! :) I'd somewhat happily take a 'questionable' new map, if it added new features like this (if working well) to the game. I just desperately want them to fix what they have not years later but prioritized as it should have been at release. If they add interchangeable calibers correctly and throw in some graphics stability improvements (expecially console) or something Id accept the new map with little negative said. I hope WotH is a cautionary tale of not releasing things until they are actually ready. No rush, do actual testings on all platforms u intend to release, complete with actually listened to tester feedback (from players familiar with the genre aka in this case "IRL hunters"). If its not ready, do a go-fund me or announce delays rather than release a buggy 62% complete product. I think do that and you are much more set for success with a deeply happy/loyal fanbase. Listen up Ultimate Hunting hey? haha It is rather impressive the loyalty devs garnered having gone about things the wrong war. I'll admit stubbornness and willful blindness to the games shortcomings at first. Just lots of optimistic support. I still love the game and want it to succeed of course.. no more rambling :p I can't resist rambling in my comments sorry haha
I refuse to spend another dollar on this game until we get some way of life updates and bug fixes. I stopped playing Call of the Wild for the same reasons and now Way of the Hunter is following the exact same path. Im tired of the greed with DLC.

It does look like a 700 CDL and the only round it comes in that isn't already in the game in the 7mm Rem Mag
Just gonna say, think its mostly based on finland. But gonna say as somone whos hunted in norway for many years the map itself looks rlly rlly good.

I think that is why they went with the angle that the reserve is fictional and just inspired by. My understanding anyways.

Omg. I hate to say this species list is the worst . Copy paste from previous maps. I bought the map as a pack with Matariki, regretting it already.
