    great video . . . very valuable information . . . we almost bought a Tab 400 on SEVERAL occasions over the last 3 years . . . glad we waited . . . seems like some very important changes have taken place that earlier-model-year owners accepted as "Oh well, nothing is perfect" . . . the good thing is that NU-CAMP listens in an attempt to truly strive for perfection

    Thanks for sharing the new updated 2020 nucamp tab 400. It's nice they keep improving. I heard the old bathroom sink design was slow in draining so it's wonderful they fixed the issue. I keep dreaming about downsizing when our 5 teens are out of the nest and this seems perfect for 2 people.

    @mr.wilson4960 Před 5 lety +62

    Great video and I’m happy for the two of you, I like the 400 but the one minus on this camper as well as hundreds of others models/manufacturers is the persistent design incorporating a side to side master bed instead of a front to back master bed that allows either parter to quietly slip out of bed via the foot of the bed with minimal disturbance of their partner and use the restroom, get up for coffee, make breakfast or what ever. How many designers/manufacturers sleep at home in a bed where one partner is trapped against a wall and can’t get out of bed without waking the other? So figure it out, cut some inches out here or there and make all master beds placed front to back instead of side to side. Does not have to be a walk around, simply a foot entry/exit. Disclaimer, this comment is not aimed at this manufacturer but rather the entire RV industry. I’ve had a couple vodka/tonics but I am passionate about this issue..😂😂😂.

    We have a 2018 and I love the changes in the 2020. I think I would opt for the bigger fridge were I to upgrade. We have replaced our sink with the new model and cannot wait to go out camping to try it out. Hoping for some improvement in that kitchen table at some point - less weight, easier to drop and raise, perhaps even adjustable slide positions like in 320s and the Avia. THEN, I “might” look at an upgrade.

    Congrats on your new T@B ! We just got the 2019 in June have had no issues with anything other than bugs getting in , I love the floor in ours it’s cushy and comfy and a breeze to clean up as well! We don’t have the wardrobe , which I would have preferred but love that we have the propane option for the fridge when boondocking, although I’m finding we have plenty of storage still. also have the solar and love it! Congrats , we live not far from Idaho Washington and Montanna , but on the Canadian side ! Lol We travel there often! Hoping to go to the Washington T@B meetup next May? Maybe we Will see you there!

    Going to agree with Northwest Dad, this is one of the best overviews of the 2020 T@B400 to date. The updates and changes have been very well documented in this vid. I have subscribed as well. Looking forward to the Weight Disto Vid as well if there was sway control in conjunction wth that system. We have a 2017 Sienna LE that we hope to pull with, it is rated for 3500lbs but am concerned about the hitch weight. Probably different now with the AC unit to the rear of the axel. Great video, thank you. Picking up our 2020 Tab 400 Boondock lite on Tuesday, very excited. This is the first video I've been able to find that answers a lot of my questions about the 2020. Question on the new air system: Is it quiet, do you feel or notice it running while sleeping and have you had any issues with it over heating. I read on a blog in early production that there was an issue and was wondering if you experienced any of those problems. Thanks again for the great video and answering a lot of questions, looking forward to following you on your new channel. Will K.

      USEALR , thanks for commenting. There’s no getting around it, the AC is a bit loud when running. I’ve also read about the overheating, but we have not had that issue (yet). You said that there were 3 power outlets... but isn’t there one in the kitchen as well? And regardless of whether you’re plugged in or not, the inverter needs to be on.... that switchover happens automatically when you plug into shore power? Lastly, how do the air conditioning vents do? Are they place in good spots to evenly keep it cold in there? What’s the BTU rating of the new unit? Wait- this last thing, lol... where does the furnace duct out to?

  • @Steve-yo4ld
    @Steve-yo4ld Před 5 lety +1

    Very real review👍 As far as the AC outlets, there are none by the sink/cooking area that run off the inverter? What about us coffee hounds?😈 Also, what is the measurement of the bed area? • @grefeaway2451
      @grefeaway2451  Před 5 lety +1

      Correct, the AC outlet in the kitchen is not connected to the inverter. You’re best bet for a coffee maker might be the outlet under the couch.

    Hi there! One of the best "new model" vids on the 400 we've seen! We're between RVs, downsizing, and been looking at the 400 for the last 2 years. The 2020 upgrades makes it feel like it's time... the floor, the bathroom sink, the AC unit, the storage - all concerns of ours earlier too! We also live in WA state, west side (Newcastle/Bellevue). Can we ask which dealership you went through to order? Apache in Everett and Tacoma seems the choices we have. When there's a local RV show at the Fair or Century Link, we beeline to the nuCamp area to see what's new. We just subscribed to your channel and can't wait to see more on the 400. Thanks again!

    • @grefeaway2451
      @grefeaway2451  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for the comment, really glad you liked it! We bought ours at Apache of Everett. They were easy enough to deal with during the purchase, but we don’t have any experience with their service department yet. I think Apache Camping Center is pretty much the only nuCamp dealer on the west side of the mountains so you’re stuck with them. The only other option I know about is driving over to Spokane which was just too far for us to even look into. Good luck!

    If I understood correctly, all 3 ac vents are on the floor. The obvious, that cold air falls, so getting effective circulation would never happen. Your head sweets, your feet are cold. Kind of bass-ackwards. Best feature I see is not having the trap sink drain.

    Great video guys, and one of the few I’ve found that specifically outlines the differences between the 2019 and 2020. We’re in the process of shopping right now and the dealer we are looking at have both, so we’ve had the usual “is it worth it” questions. The lower power draw of the AIR 8 alone makes it very tempting.
    Also, kudos on the production quality of the video. The drone footage was quite cool (we never get to see the tops of these trailers), and the video and audio quality were great. Perhaps best of all, you were well-prepared with your content, didn’t “uhm...” your way through, and didn’t say the same thing 20 times. Other content creators, take note. Please. :-)

We were wondering as someone else also asked in the comments below, “How do you store this trailer?” I’m assuming from your video you have it in a garage, when I read the specs on this it said it was over 8’ in height. We bought a 2019 T@B 400 Boondock Lite 6 months ago. We experienced excessive dust entering the unit with all windows, doors, compartments and vents in their closed and locked positions while driving 15-20 mph down gravel roads. We find most of the dust coming in thru the wheel wells, and alde system. Nucamp has not been able to fix it. I fear that These units are not made for anything but pavement.

      Bhastings, I think I’ve read about your issue on the tab forums. I’ve even commented there a few months ago. Without going too much into it, it sounds awful. I’m 100% sure you got a lemon.
      We just took our T@B out onto the Alvord desert, which is effectively a dust bowl. We’ve also had it down well over 200 miles of gravel roads by now. Not a single sign of dust inside.
      I hope NuCamp fixes your situation, I really think they missed a manufacturing step.
      *If* you have a different problem than the one on the tab forums then let me know and I’ll find the thread for you.

      Hmmm. White noise might be a bit of a white lie. It’s not obnoxiously loud, but it’s also not quiet. Most of the noise is from the air coming out of the ducts, not the unit itself. The bed duct is above you near the radio. Ours doesn’t vibrate.

    What kinds of things do you store in the camper while traveling? Do you put tables and such? Also, do you have a generator? If so, what works for you?

    • @grefeaway2451
      @grefeaway2451  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Kathleen, if you mean in the camper aisle, we try to keep it empty while traveling. We have a pop up table that we keep in the bed of our truck as well as some foldable chairs.
      No generator, so far the solar has been enough. The goal is to upgrade the solar & batteries if we ever need more power instead of buying a generator. We’ll see how that goes over time.

      I see so many reviews of different trailers, vans, etc. They are very thorough and informative. But it is so frustrating that the most important question on everyone's mind never seems to be answered. And that is the PRICE! How much does it cost?

    • @dupre7416
      @dupre7416 Před 3 lety +1

      @@RicardoRoams honestly, that's the most important question. It can be perfect in every way but if it's too expensive what's the point of even looking? I think these are over $40,000. I could afford that but I don't think it's a good use of money. Check the used market and other brands. They might not be as nice but life is full of compromises.

    With all that wood, aren't you worried about mould? Especially in high humidity PNW. Using propane for cooking introduces water vapor, so you'll have to wipe down all surfaces constantly. I speak from experience as I owned a wooden sail boat and an old camperized van. I was constantly buying dri eze, by the kgs. Good luck to you both. Please keep us posted about issues.

    Hi! My husband and I are deciding between a t@b 400 and an Airstream Bambi 16. Could you comment on how the bed is for two people in the 400? I'm worried that the slanting angle of the back of the teardrop might be a deal breaker. Thanks :)

    • @grefeaway2451
      @grefeaway2451  Před 4 lety

      Sorry I missed your comment. We actually got our choice down to these two models as well.
      If both of you are claustrophobic then sleeping in the tab will be challenging. Thankfully that’s not a problem for us, but it is for others. The slope of the bed is visually there. Physically you probably won’t hit it so it’s more of a mental thing.
      Good luck on your choice. Both are great units I think.

    I've been told that you could get by towing the 400 with no wd hitch, but with only a sway bar. What do you think about that? I'm getting my 2020 next week.

    • @grefeaway2451
      @grefeaway2451  Před 4 lety

      Greg, that’s awesome! We do use a WD hitch on ours, but we started out without one. There’s no doubt that it tows easier (the truck just behaves better in the wind). When we picked ours up the dealer said we wouldn’t even need a sway bar but I hate towing on the highway without anti-sway.

    Why did you guys have to show the great improvements in this TAB 400 202o model! Now i really have to take a second look at the AIrstream Nest, I like the nest because of the electric fridge and all fiberglass and the FACT they are selling for 33,000 down from MSRP of 47,000, just like the Hymer GT trailer selling on RV trader for 13,000 down from 40,000. The AC improvement, quality build make this a real challenge NOW:( I look for big black tanks first, like the combo on the nest is 28, Lance 1995 45 gallons, etc........ but if im going to be at a park like thousand trails guess that really does not matter until at BLM land and then you can just pack up and dump weekly for one person:)

    It seems you do not answer any questions based on all the questions below and no replies. The #1 question on the 2020 is the new Air Conditioner. People say that it does not cool over 90 degrees. How did yours do over the summer? Are you having any issues with the a/c? Have you camped in temps over 90 degrees?

    • @juliegrefe4368
