i like how you specified its a stockfish cheater, not to be confused with the push up cheater, who is you.
😂😂😂
Waiting for the day someone uses Komodo or Leela to cheat lol
LMAO
Facts
I really thought he was going to talk about an over the board game where a guy slapped his opponent with a cod
I love it when cheaters develop an ego and are like "I'm in a completely winning position, time to finish it on my own", like bruh.
And it's even funnier seeing the flustered subscriber realizing "wait a minute, this guys making crazy mistakes, I still have a chance" lol and then actually burying him in short order
Like, he was going to get banned for cheating anyways, might as well make that guy feel real bad before you go
his beads ran out of battery
That reminds me of the time I was cheating and I was winning but then I moved the wrong piece by accident somehow which blundered my queen and instantly cost me the entire game. :p
@@hearmeout1767 well that sure is a lesson for everyone
Imagine that cheater is a dad who plays well up until he starts letting his kids suggest his moves because he likes them getting interested in chess.
brilliant view
@@sh3lol520 niemann should have used this excuse for cheating
I've done this a BUNCH of times. Another good way to get your kids involved is to alternate moves. I'm sure that would (and has) lead to All SORTS of assumptions by folks. Shrug.
Doesn't explain the consistent move times though
Specifically a Bulgarian father, with black hair and a beard
Can we just appreciate how well the Gotham sub played? He played some really good moves.
Yeah right why not give him a shout out
he also did a ton of blunders lol
or was he the real cheater all along xd
for a gotham sub, yes
well tbh opening prep below 1500 is kinda cheating ....
I can officially say everyone thought the piece sounds were already on
Yeahh I thought its always on and clicked i wanted it on on the poll and realised later that they were off😂
@@arushgaur7116 _💀_ Bruh 😂
i didn't, i thought the silence was kind of good for keeping focused when listening to gotham
Yeah I literally don't notice the sounds one way or the other. If you asked me before this video whether Levy has sounds on or off in his videos, I wouldn't be able to tell you even though I'm a regular viewer. Just drifts into the subconscious background.
I like the piece sounds. even, Agadmator has them.
Shout out to Gotham for being featured on WIRED for chess cheating!

I remember in an online chess game I saw that I could take a pawn using en passant and the other person literally left lmao
Your analysis is actually incredible, these cheaters probably don't think they will be exposed if they cheat on and off during a game but I think you nailed the difference between their thought process and a computer's thought process. Good shit!
if you're not at that skill level, don't turn them off because you'll look like a moron and there's going to be a complete change in skill
@@ArtieDuels Cheating like this is very unsportsmanlike.

I was Gotham sub, Levy just made absolutely amazing content out of something I didn't think was that good. Just a few notes:
3:51 - I played d5 because I really wanted to give that smothered mate, so me kick rook
5:41 - Yes that was hilarious, I actually did not take the pawn on purpose because I wanted to fully focus on checkmate in the fewest moves and I missed that the promotion is check
6:07 - LMAO
9:02 - I know it's bad but I like making that sacrifice because I like the open king, and it catches them off-guard. Breaks the boring board too.
11:41 - It was already obvious he was cheating but here I was like OKAY DUDE for sure, if you want to play perfect Vienna, come get me, I know it all..
15:18 - ..up until this point. Everything was from my knowledge of the studies from the amazing Gotham Vienna course at chessly. So I kinda panicked at that point.
19:17 - Holy hell!
You made me genuinely happy with the video, thank you Levy and xqcL. I'm going back to learn more Vienna/Caro theory

Came to the comments to say this. I'm like "I thought my post-game analysis told me to kick the bishop"
I would like to see a series where someone gets a winning position (+3, + 8, etc.) but has to play the rest of the game against Stockfish. I wonder how much of an advantage different rated players need to beat Stockfish).
Great idea!
I think that it would work better with an aggressive or tactical strong player (like Rosen or Cramling's dad), because when Stockfish plays a lost position, it doesn't consider the fact that the opponent is lower rated. It will give up and let the lower rated opponent convert the advantage (if they can). A tactical grandmaster, instead, will try every possible trick in order to make the opponent make a mistake, thus having a much more interesting game.

Like the Gordon Ramsay meme "You f*cking donkey" and then "Oh dear, oh dear, gorgeous!"
you're stupid :)
If two cheaters played with the best stockfish its always a draw
Let 's be real here, Levy uploaded this video just because he is so proud of his sub playing Vienna.
The sounds add a nice effect. At first, I was afraid they would be too distracting, but you made them the perfect volume.
8:30 “why would you do that?”
Me a 800 who has played this move *multiple* times: uhhhh… well… 😬😅
Playing chess in low elo reminds me of playing low elo fps games. Its a mixed bag of playing with noobs - gamers - ex professional super nova grandmaster in one skill bracket.
I never know if my next opponent is a returning master or a fresh off the bus meat puppet still learning how to move.
im a fan of the piece sounds, but a little softer/quieter would be much appreciated. amazing video, i love the playstyle of the subscriber, its very logical and clean
Nat a huge fan, but them being quieter would certainly help
G4 is definitely a natural move for this level of play. Just a bit lower in terms of elo, bishops get trapped exactly like that all the time. You can get to 13/1400s lacking all sorts of knowledge and principles.
Exactly my thought, I would’ve played it as a reflex, forgetting my king was on that side😂
also pawn a7 to attack the bishop is played all the time at lower level. bishop being there is annoying so just get rid of it and maybe get a getaway square if you castle that side
these are my favorite chess videos on the internet. Taking down cheaters is both hilarious and satisfying. Super interesting too. Also the piece moves made nice sounds.
In the second game I actually saw the brilliant move, which I am proud of, but if I did it I would have blundered one move later and somehow lost.
Just saw you on Wired! Wanted to say you did a really good job there!

I really like the addition of pieces sounds, and I’d love to see the time control next to their profiles. Great video!
18:56 "Me attack rook"
I like the sounds and volume fine. I’ve noticed lately people caught cheating against me have had a mix of wins and losses. It’s not just someone winning every game anymore.

OMG!! I thought that was real! 😅
👋🏼👋🏼
Just gonna say, the move g4 at 8:30 I saw all the time when playing around 13-1400. It is very common for lower rated players to push out bishops that way. Usually it's probably not a good move though.
17:38
Her: you can’t speak R2-D2
Gotham:
I’ve actually been shocked at the number of times I’ve gotten your queen trap line in the Vienna. I’m only hovering around 1000 but I swear I see Qf6 after Qg4 more than half the time. Usually they mess up worse than the actual line leaves them before we get much further but still
Ngl I watch just about every upload and never even really noticed the sounds weren’t there. Come for the commentary and the recaps, it’s not pivotal to hear the pieces but definitely didn’t mind them. Keep up the awesome vids 🎉
Most cheaters set up positions in midgame, so you might experience a long thinking time, followed with devastatingly accurate moves in short consistent time.
My thoughts on the sounds:
When there are a lot of moves, especially in openings when you kind of rush through, it makes it difficult to focus on what you're saying. The rest of the time it's fine. Conclusion is, personally if you're gonna use sounds, maybe only turn them on after the opening? Is that a hassle? Idk. Great video as always!
Agree, no sound is the way to go
So basically the reason that g4 is a good move in that scenario for the second game is because it forces any attack and pressure off that kings side in initial development allowing for a less aggressive push in most games. It basically keeps black off kings side for a while and gives you the chance to get more centered development by not having to worry about kings side attacks in the early game.
Stockfish really speaks for itself!
Yep. Stockfish only plays the best moves.
Another great video and the sounds are a cool addition. Cheaters will learn one day. Just study and learn like the rest of us. The results are more worth it in the end.
8:43 "every normal person focases on something else" me who actually sometimes plays like this to bait the enemy 😂
Gotta love your enthusiasm while narrating matches.
The chess sounds were good, I wouldn't make them louder than that but I liked it.
When you start shouting moves in an epic way "KNIGHT TO E6, BRILLIANT MOVE!!!!!!" I just can't help but laugh 🤣
New viewer here, went back and watched an older video, and I definitely like hearing the chess piece noises. Very satisfying.
15:25 - I concluded on Qc4 as well. It allows for the involvement of both Bishops. But, like most patzers, I didn't consider what the proper response would be.
Maybe he just called his older brother to play chess for him 🙂
That move at 19:53 made me lol for real, not just a chuckle or a smile, and im probably the worst chess player alive
13:41 he moved a pawn to make Sub's bishop retreat at a4, so he could take it by queen with check, if I'm not missing anything (that exactly how I would've done it)
love the sounds
love these vids exposing cheaters brother!
I agree, the chess piece sounds add another comfy layer to the video's audio. Was a missing element to the formula that is a chess video.
Yep. Some people find the sounds distracting when there's a lot, but it isn't a hard fix. Also, having the sounds and reaction stickers adds a lot of personality (not that levy was lacking in that regard lol)!
I never noticed the pieces didn't have sounds. But now that they're here, "it's a no for me dawg"
Okay, that was the funniest attempt at cheating I've ever seen 🤣🤣
To be fair, if I was in the position, I would have done the bishop knight trap in game 2, but and I probably wouldn't have taken the bishop immedicably. Its a good tactic I've used when lossing a game before. Bishop pair for me. Loss at the end.
I'm not a good player by any means but I can handle blindfold positions, especially openings. Move sounds are great because I often cook or do something else while listening to the moves. These make it slightly easier to follow sometimes. Also the sounds are quite a bit ASMR ngl.
Its so funny how this guy suddenly became fully trained vienna player in the span of 2 games
As someone viewing from outside of the chess community it seems to me it’s gotten to a point where the people who can most effectively cheat are already good chess players. It also seems like when playing online chess the only ways to recognize are not really enough unless theyre doing it blatantly/poorly or have limited knowledge of chess and it shows. Im sure theres endless amounts of accusations just like the recent ones by magnus that cant be proven. Gives a lot of room for cheaters and also for chessmasters to write off a loss as someone cheating.
If youre already good at chess there is no reason to cheat. If you dont know anything about cheating in chess as a “viewer from outside the chess community”, then there is no reason for your claim
@@Mattyizhere thanks for your useless input. No reason to cheat?! Maybe learn about humans before you make your claim…
The player who knows absolutely nothing about chess and just goes in cheating is always super easy to figure out. They’ll have a win rate near perfect, win rate won’t vary vs opponent, moves all same length. no obvious opening book because the engine can just calc as it goes. and you just know when the opponent is seemingly playing randomly and you suddenly get crushed with some weird ass tactic you couldn’t have imagined, and then the accuracy score is like 99.99 or something.
Some players I suspect of cheating for a few moves here or there but you can’t always tell. These players are generally decent but ask stockfish for help when they get into a confusing situation. Those aren’t the players who take the standard 8s or so for a ridiculously obvious move.
“why is the king getting involved!?” 😂😂❤
Gotham Sub is a very good player, and should be congratulated for his exceptional play!!
Love the content levy. I don’t really play chess but you’ve got me into this world with the guess the elos and I can’t thank you enough for it! Much love!
Ngl its very likely I'd play that Qc4 move in a game (3rd game). 1600 rapid and I love not allowing my opponent to castle like that. I pretty much take the chance whenever I can because I'm a very agressive player and castling makes things much harder for me.

6:08 the reaction nearly made me spit take. Also funny that the first rematch was a huge mistake but the second rematch was entirely worth the wait
As someone who plays like three games a year, a very casual beginner, watching the cheater's moves when they had the engine turned off was hilarious. Like, even someone as inexperienced as me, someone who couldn't name a single opening (except now the Vienna, I guess), could tell that the player was utterly incompetent, never looking more than about half a move ahead if that.
If even I can tell it's bad play, it must be VERY bad.
finally a "cheater" video without Hans 👍🏼
I remember chess without Hans. Those were good days.
You should make this a series. Something like “hacker review” where viewers send in games where they think the enemy cheated and you review the analysis
5:08 this descent into confused frustration is gold
11:00 should unironically be added to the tactics trainer/puzzle rush in my opinion, beautiful sequence
Great video Levy! I think I prefer the piece sounds more than without, but I don't have a keen preference either way.
I think you should do what you like the most about the sound of the pieces mr. Levi, I enjoy your content either way so long as you are happy with it !
I’ve been playing the bots a lot and when you pin the knight (e.g. bishop g4 pinning knight to the queen), stockfish will always kick the bishop with the pawn and if you retreat the bishop it will play g4 every time. Humans rarely play that, but the bots always do.
I can see this video and wired’s video sharpening cheater tactics. Especially the consistent move timing one
It says everything about the quality of your commentary that you have almost 2 million subs when you havent even had piece sounds till now
It was nice with sound and the volume was ok too. Don't turn it up, as it can be too loud then, but this was very comfortable to watch and listen to 👍
I find funny how the moves where the pawn attacks the bishop is such a good move, when I a 600 with little knowledge about chess theory, play it all the time
I love piece sounds, id love it if you continued using them
A good way of cheating will be deliberately choosing not the best moves at random moves
As a level 750 player, I am sure I have done those very moves you say are not common to make. Granted the follow ups arent quite there, if they were, I would be a level 1300 player, but still, sometimes the brilliance shines through. I like to play the confuse the crap out of the other party and sacrifice half the board for a move that might or might not work. Hence my win rate is total garbage, but it is just such a beautiful thing when it all artfully works out.
8:35 I do that when I'm on a losing streak with "screw your pins, damn it" or "not this sht again man" kind of thoughts when doing this.
Ya but if you do it without a plan you just blunder
Love the channel Levy, I have a 1032 rating, and to be honest the pawn moves that attack the bishop I learned from playing against myself and looking for the best moves (with stockfish), and I have seen those moves really often when playing the spanish game so I didnt see anything weird there, also when watching the video, the knight to D4 was also something that I didnt find fishy, the only thing for me would be the consistency of the moves. I know might not be the best strategy to improve but I know several people that practice playing against stockfish and seeing the best moves, maybe thats why a lot of low rated player may look like cheaters.
Irigaisi explained the position well compared to another GM who blundered his game in the post-game interviews. lol
Hope you have a great day Levy, the piece sounds are alright ^^
I like the sounds of the pieces when you make a move.
“Why is the king getting involved…?”
I lost it completely cause I’ve totally never done that before /s
Very interesting video. The gameplay in 2nd video was very similar to how I would play @700 and how my opponent will play at 700 up until the end part. Pros must have best of both worlds, knowledge of mid elo and creativity of low elo.
I never noticed that there were no piece sounds, but now that you added them, it kinda bothers me a little
0:30 Ooh! You mentioned that!
Love the piece sounds! As a noobie it makes it much easier to follow
@8:46 is actually the move I would've played in that exact same situation, without any bot or cheating... Been doing that move for years and it works out for me, in like 80% of the time.
Same for the move on @13:27, would be also one that would come to mind, just to put some pressure on my opponent.
Yes but you wouldn't get 96% accuracy games. Not to mention the move in 13:27 is wrong, Levy even says that it's because his engine was on low depth, on higher depth engines don't suggest this move.
@@prestigedidiot1295 I'm getting not even close to 75% accuracy games, most of the time.
