  • Pericarditis (Pericardial Inflammation) Signs & Symptoms (& Why They Occur)
    Pericarditis is a cardiac condition involving inflammation of the pericardium (the sac that surrounds the heart). There are many different causes of pericarditis, including viral infections, medications and autoimmune conditions. Inflammation of the pericardium can lead to a variety of signs and symptoms, including characteristic chest pain, which we discuss in this lesson along with the complications of pericarditis.

    My daughter got this at 8 yrs old. Had chest pain and fever. Was misdiagnosed by multiple doctors over several days as it got worse. My wife kept trying different doctors until a Mexican Lady Doctor listened to her little heart minutes before closing the office closed and took some xrays AFTER HOURS. We went to the store and my kid said she felt really bad and wanted to go home. As I opened the door the phone was ringing and the Mexican doctor was calling and yelled for me to take her to Children's hospital Emergency RIGHT NOW!! Emergency heart surgery at St Joseph Hospital in Orange California saved her life. We were later told our little girl wouldn't have made it through the night without the surgery.... I am crying just remembering this... event of 14 years ago... She was a month in ICU and recovered.... They never did know why this happened.... poor little kid...

    I suffered from a fever than couldnt be brought down by paracetamol, then chest pain when lying down, felt better when sitting up. Went to the A&E, they thought it was just a normal infection, got sent home with antibiotics, tried to sleep but still hurt like mad when lying down, was so painful til i teared up. Went to A&E second time and insisted something was really wrong. Previously googled my symptoms and suspected it was pericarditis and due to the fact I have an autoimmune disease (SLE) the doctor there was rude to us when we say we suspect it was pericarditis, he look offended as if we are questioning his earlier diagnosis, but we remain adamant and continue advocating for ourselves until he finally relent and took us in observation ward for the night, eventually admitted for 6 nights in the hospital after my SPO2 levels dropped to 90! (having shortness of breath) So please, advocate and be firm if you suspect something is not right, it is ok to google your symptoms and voice out any suspicions so the doctors can figure it out/ rule it out. always play it safe and advocate for your self and health!

      Thats ur take away from this video?

    • @MrYorickJenkins
      @MrYorickJenkins Před rokem

      @@americaneden3090 one of the takeaways, to use the modern idiom, yes except they are doing it all the time now. "Often" is an adverb so it does not work as an adjective. What's more, it is entirely superfluous to stick "times" onto "often". The word is "often" for Christ's sake and the word "often" means frequently, many times.The last point is that if doctors and scientists are unreliable on grammar, it may undermine trust in their competence so far as scientific precision is concerned.
