I was eight years old when I watched this show on our family's 19 inch b&w Zenith portable. I loved the theme music. I loved Ernest Borgnine. Gosh. And Tim Conway! What a Gas! Thanks for posting. It's been sixty years since I've seen this. Great memories of better times.
The best part to know is we really do still worship volcanoes like way back then.. We are still not allowed to throw the appropriate politicians into em... National Park Rules.
I remember when Parker first arrived the men gave him a hard time but he turned out to be a good guy and later on the men liked him. Tim Conway was,a funny guy his son is now on KFI radio.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
Pretty sure if we circle back around the carrier we can get a shark on the tail hook at least and hit the third wire. The VF21 JUST SCREWED ME VF-11 1 squadron and everybody else happy New Year
No, thy all Navy men, including my wife's late uncle who served on PT 180 in the Solomon Islands. Their training was conducted at Melville, R.I. Coasties often manned landing craft and sometimes crash boats which look similar to PTs.
The big native girl with the crush on Parker really is a good-looking gal. Some of my best girlfriends or lady friends were a bit bigger. I figure more to love. Plus, bigger ladies appreciate a caring boyfriend.
Your a joke you belong to a jim jones cult called trump your to young to know or talk about great shows from a great time about a a President that was a war hero not dr bone spires
I am a Democrat and I regard your comment as a revelation of abject ignorance. It's a certainty that there were more Democrats employed in the production of this series than there are in producing today's TV shows. You should be deeply embarrassed and ashamed of yourself for posting such a stupid comment, but we know that MAGA Maniacs are incapable of either embarrassment or shame.

The return of quality programming.
Only the truly brain dead pay $200 a month to watch them really tasteless brain dead dribbles on cable TV
When Chuck first stuck that 45 pistol down his front waist and squealed, I nearly lost it. I guess the censors had a good sense of humor.
This has ALWAYS been my favorite show! Especially when McHale & his group would keep hiding little Fugi from Captain Binghamton! :)
40 years later I became what I always hated... Ole Lead Bottom...
@@thekingsilverado3266 Hi Theking! Haven't we all become "Ole Lead Bottom" Lol!
Danny Arnold wrote for Bewitched and for Barney Miller
Programs like this make me bloody sad, why do we have to watch the crap they make today when they once were able to make this gold?

I think the screen writers had something to do with that
You cannot write facial expressions or delivery or timing, and Tim Conway could read a phone book and make it seem funny.
Watched this during my Jr High years (1961-1962). I forgot the Tim Conway stared on the show,
People consider fortune cookies as Chinese. However, they originated with Japanese immigrants to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The nurses were always bombshells. I remember a very young Rachel Welch. Hubba Hubba!

Wow... a comedy that doesn't have to talk about sex to be funny... what a concept.
