    Thank you for sharing.
    I learn a lot from your videos. As you can tell, I am a beginner who tries to catch up and I am still watching your videos that you uploaded months ago.
    I look into the Elixir product which recommends 20-35g/sq m. The 25kg bag you talked about in the video only needs 2.5g/sq m. this is 10 times difference. As you mentioned too much fertiliser will cause issue in the water downstream, I wonder whether I shall stick to your 2.5g or use the manufacturer's 25g?
    appreciate for your advice.
    cheers

    Hi Robbie. I have used this method on our 4500 sqm lawn using a boom sprayer. Great results. I have two questions. 1, how often would you apply and 2, iron ? You have previously said ‘limit iron application to 4 times per year’. Is this different to previous references?

      That sounds like a nice lump of a lawn!
      It would be great to see some pictures, I have a group on Facebook, and I will link it below
      In the past, I have said to limit it to 4 applications, however, since then I have spoken to numerous groundsmen up and down the country and they all say that on their greens etc they have been applying iron on monthly applications for years.
      So there are different thoughts out there on how often you should, the place where I was taught this mix, they use iron 12 months of the year once a month for years.... It's one of the best golf courses in Ireland

    Like button smashed! Fortunately, ammonium sulphate is readily available in 25kg bags on the German Amazon site for about €22. What is the difference between using ammonium sulphate instead of urea (46-0-0)?

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  Před rokem +1

      Hey Mike good question. Ammonium sulfate and urea both provide plants with nitrogen.
      Urea needs to go through a process called hydrolysis in the soil to release nitrogen for the plants. This process takes some time.
      On the other hand, ammonium sulfate already contains nitrogen in a form that plants can use immediately.
      Ammonium sulfate also contains sulfur, which is good for plant growth. Urea doesn't have any additional nutrients
      You could use urea for this too

    This looks fantastic. One thing I can't work out though is the water. The issue I have is that both the seaweed and Ammonium are added to a similar amount, only 50/60ml water per metre squared.. The iron though needs about a litre per metre according to the packet. So for a 100m lawn you'd only need 5/6 litres water to apply the seaweed and ammonium, but the iron you'd need 100 litres! So my question is how does one manage to use all three combined when the water requirements are so different?

    Hi Robbie Would you be able to break down the usage in a simple month format? (best guess) The usage information on collier turf suggests not to use in the summer months (although I am this year (however we've had plenty of rain & not so much heat this year). It looks like it's suggesting to use Feb-Apr then Sept-Oct.
    But then Elixir garden supplies suggest usage of - Recommended to be used from March to August.
    I guess the green keeper didn't go into detail, but you will have a better guess than most of us 😂👍

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  Před rokem

      Hi Chris
      The elixir garden supplies isn't technical grade sulphate of ammonia (as far as I'm aware)
      It's not going to break down the same in water.
      In the spring, lawns love a bit of nitrogen and through the summer too as long as it's not to warm. I would go on at the full rate
      Round about August I would start to ease off on the nitrogen
      The sulphate of ammonia is @ 21 percent if it's applied at 2.5g per m2
      To apply it at say 10 percent, simply cut that in half 1.2g (approximately)
      During the winter either drop the ammonia down to less than 4-5 percent or cut it altogether

      @@Premier_lawns_official Awesome, thanks Robbie. It does say it's water dissolvable.
      'This fertiliser can “scorch” plants if applied directly onto them. It is common to be fork it into the soil around the plants, or mixed with water and sprayed over them as a diluted solution to minimise this.'
      If I've got some left i'll give it a go overnight as you suggest in the previous video. I'll report back with the findings.

      Liquid fertilisers are taken up by the plant right away. That is why the amount needed is much lower. If you put on more it would burn
      So, if you use a liquid you see the results much faster as it gets into the lawn right away
      On the other hand, a granular takes a while to break down and become available to the plant
      And it's not all available right away, it might take a few weeks or even months for it all to get released.

I had a lovely 20 year old Laburnum tree and I also have a cherry blossom a Canadian maple and also at the time I had a native mountain ash I bought some powder in a tub that kills moss and I sprinkled it on the lawn..... Don't ask what it was as it was a good few years ago..... It was sprinkled evenly.... And within a few months the laburnum tree was dead as a dodo I left it there for two years just to be sure but it never came back..... All other trees were OK.... Are laburnum trees susceptible to what ever is in moss killer or do you know?????

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  Před rokem

      Good question, yes I'm sure you could. But the question should really be should you?
      100 per cent the seaweed and iron, maybe leaving the Ammonia until the new seed gets established
      Fertiliser should display the which indicates the percentage of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K)
      Look for a starter fertiliser with a higher P or K number
      Ammonia is the (N)
      For new grass you want something that has plenty of (p) or (k)
      Ammonia doesn't have any of those.
      Slow-release nitrogen sources, such as polymer-coated or organic-based fertilisers, are beneficial for newly seeded lawns.
      They release nutrients gradually over time, providing a steady supply of nourishment without overwhelming the young grass.
      This helps prevent excessive growth or burn damage.

      Liquid fertilisers are in a dissolved or suspended form, which makes the nutrients readily available for plant uptake.
      The nutrients are immediately available in a soluble form, allowing plants to absorb them more efficiently.
      Granular fertilisers, on the other hand, need to dissolve and break down in the soil before the nutrients become available to plants.
      As a result, granular fertilisers are typically applied at higher rates to compensate for slower nutrient release and lower overall nutrient availability
