Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.

That last being said, I just used one of the 2 pucks I made. (One with AC, and one with Red Clay, both with colloidal oats) the AC and I’m very pleasantly surprised! I’ve always had bad experiences with melt & pour soap, they have always burned and stung my skin especially the face. So I was giving this a try not expecting much, but OMG 😱 it was such a lovely experience washing my face with this little black puck! So nice and didn’t burn or sting and left my face so soft and lightly exfoliated. Sooooo… I might have to eat my words from earlier and make this again when this batch runs out. Mind you, I’m going to hoard it like a dragon hoards gold! lol 😂
I used soap shreds from a goat milk powder soap I had made with silk fibers and aloe Vera juice and it never really hardened up as much as I would have liked, as well as I used love spell and I really don’t care for that scent, so I’ve been trying to think of a good use for these soaps. I also fallowed your recipe as far as the amounts, I just halved everything. I used a rosehip glycerite, yellow rose infused IPA, and plain distilled water and beeswax. I felt the milk soap shreds with all its kaolin clay and aloe and silk and goats milk would make a nice base for a face soap. It turned out really nice 👍 we’ll only about half a dozen pucks actually look nice but they are all useable and that was just because of my lovely nonexistent melt & pour skills lol 😂 thank you so much for sharing this recipe and your methods, you are such a giving person and I’m glad I get to benefit from your goodness ❤️thank you!
I can’t… no, I won’t ever make a melt & pour soap from scratch again. You are a magic worker! How do you make that look so easy?! 😂 mine turned out ok but the process of getting it in the molds and trying to keep it fluid enough to do so was a disaster! lol the smoke… the mess… the many attempts lol just no, I have to say you are so very talented and I’m in awe of your mad skills because my experience was so not a fun time 😂 my hat’s way way off to you! ❤️

Thanks so much for this. I just tried it with some shreds from cp soap. I had about 100 grams to work with so I ended up with 2 nice size face bars. I added flax gel instead of water + Neroli, Petitgrain, & Ylang Ylang EOs….in addition to French green clay and Edelweiss extract. It’s not the prettiest but I’m looking forward to trying it before bed. Love your channel and hearing about your journey. 💗🧚🏻 Your bars looked so beautiful 🌹.
I would add Kaolin clay or dead sea clay. I make my bars of face wash using either or of the two clays. I like how they remove the dead skin leaving my face soft and clean without stripping my oils. Maybe I can figure out a formal using soap scrap trimmings into a facial soap?? Oh better I should leave it up to you where you're the expert 😜. Thank you for being amazing and fun and informative. I would be interested to see kojic and or hyaluronic acid as an additive in this method. My mom has always worked up a thick lather on her face and let it sit for 10 min before rinsing. I think she would love this. Thanks, as always, for sharing valuable info.❤

Hey! The alcohol is included to help remove dirt, oils, and dead skin cells as well as to assist in lowering the ph a bit.
