It's the one you Porsche fanboys have been waiting for - a Porsche 911 Turbo S showdown!
Mat's in 911 992 Turbo S, and he's going to find out just how different the performance is compared to the older 991 model.
It won't surprise any of you that the newer model can put down more power. With a 3.7-litre flat-six twin-turbo at the rear, it's got the ability to produce 650hp and 800Nm! As for the 991? It's also packing a flat-six twin-turbo, but it can 'only' produce 580hp & 750Nm.
But of course, this isn't our first drag race with the 992 Turbo S, and we've seen it destroy countless supercars over the past few months! So will the 991 be able to keep up? There's only one way to find out... LET'S RACE!

Koenigsegg needs to build a production Jesko, to test a Jesko. SF90 Stradale/McLaren 765LT are the only cars so far, that can run a consistant, sub-10 1/4 mile, on pump gas, with no mods at all.

I like the old wheels on the 991 better, but the new back of the 992 looks stunning. That rear combined with the old rims would look really sweet.
The new turbo S’ launch control is so POWERFUL. It launched like a rocket and zoomed off pretty fast. Porsche did a great job there.
Its not powerfull launch control but car as whole.

Hi Matt if you want to get through the soft limiter on the 911 apparently if you put it in gear and hold both paddles you can use the full rev range
I remember in the 90's when the standard super car was 0 60 in 5 seconds. The older 911s were doing it . They're pretty solid cars.

@@GuardsRed996 Might be wrong but Laxop was possibly referring to Volkswagen's history of "fixing" emission figures. So while it's a Porsche drivetrain, VW corporate have probably dictated that normal driving modes have lazy gear changes to keep revs and emissions lower.

When I was a teenager back in the 80’s a supercar was doing high 12’s low 13’s in a quarter mile lol there was a guy that had 75,000 invested into his box nova made for street racing it was the fasted car around back then and he was in the low 11’s and now we have stock cars right from factory running 10’s lol , I know there has been a few videos of the turbo S hitting the high 9’s that is hyper car numbers .. cars have become truly insane
also big shout out to tire manufactures. Tires have improved a LOT since the 80s

Is not a motorbike quick. I tried with my CBR600 once to impress a Mercedes SL I had just behind me in a red light before the highway start, light green and I did a little wheelie and full gas until 6th gear and guess what I had just at my back... yes the SL turn out to be the 65 and it was quicker than my bike by far and that in 2006... So the new 911 turbo S is for sure quicker than even the fastest bike

@@ozelusus Really?, my last bike was a GSX-R 750 and I ride on a track a GSX-R1000 also all from 2006 to 2008, since then I had no bikes... you know, wife doesn't want and I just obey. Doesn't matter the bikes still are ONE little tire tractioning against 4 huge tires of the Porsche, the car beat them for sure. Maybe new electronics does the miracle... I'll search for a video bike beating the porsche.

For those of you who have never launched a stock 992 Turbo S, it launches so hard it makes your toes tingle. It's 60 foot time is that of an 8 second drag car on a prepped surface.

That's what an extra 60HP and better gearing will do for. The Turbo exhaust note (they do offer a Sport exhaust option) has been subdued for some time. My 991.2 C4S factory Sport exhaust makes a joyful noise, and saved a bunch of money over the Turbo (Turbo is bonkers though). Any number of automotive types have stated that Porsche under reports HP ratings, the new TT may be in that class.

I’ve had both the 992 and the 991 and have kept the 991 . It’s a rawer experience with the gearbox being way better. Yea the 992 is faster but not as fun. Plus I prefer buttons to iPads all over the dash. Sound wise 991 wins , the 992 is way too clinical unless you’re going full beans, feels like an electric car at any other pace.
They need to get a sponsor by Dyson with all these Rev limits haha

Actually there is video with that battle. The brand new 911 turbo S has got excsactly the same torque with older GT2 and with it's superior lunch control beats the theoritically stronger -model especially in high level of performance! The extra 50 PS can' t make the difference for the GT2

The weight transfer during the rolling race in the 991 was crazy!
Man I remember watching Top Gear when the Ferrari 458 came out, they raced it vs the Previous F430, I was blown away at how much faster the 458 was, that is the same feeling I have now. It’s shocking to see how much faster the 992 is then this 991 which is itself insanely fast. The new 992 is my new favorite 911 (Previously the 911 997.1 was my favorite), I will own one, at some point.
