I love that you're digging into bluegrass. There are a lot of gatekeepers who say that you have to play a string instrument if you want to play bluegrass. But I know that, despite them sometimes being hard to find, there are also bluegrass musicians who love hearing new and different sounds added to the genre, regardless the instrument. I hope you know, or find some, of the more easygoing types. I'd love to hear some saxy bluegrass.

Thank you so much!! I've definitely come across people who are not interested in hearing saxophone in bluegrass (especially at jams) but usually after I play a song or two they end up enjoying it! Just gotta keep getting out there and playing, I enjoy it afterall:)

Way late to this video, but I really wanted to chime in & let you know how validating it is hearing that you only completed one semester of music school, and are out and gigging regularly nonetheless!
I was able to complete 3 semesters of Jazz Studies before switching to audio engineering. Neither of which I could hack, and I can completely relate to being miserable. My applied lessons Trumpet professor was insanely good, but he taught Trumpet like a football coach which left me pretty disillusioned to the whole thing (RIP Stephen Jones)
Anyway - Thank you for the great content Frankie! Keep up the good work, you're going places!

WOAH DUDE - talk about blowing up. You posted this on Mar 30 and said you have 33k subs but today it's Apr 15 and you now have 219k. That's crazy!! Congrats! I just discovered your channel when the shorts started randomly popping up in my feed. I always loved the alto sax and wanted to play when I was in middle school (6th grade) but back then, an entry level sax was like $450....yeah this was back in the late 70s.....and my dad said it was too expensive. So he made me play trumpet because it only cost $150. Played until I was 16 because in HS, marching band was SO DAMNED FUN BUT all the cute girls were not in band and I wanted to hang out with them. Plus by that time I was totally burned out on sax.
Anyways - my favorite saxophonists back then were David Sanborn and Grover Washington Jr...but really Sanborn was it for me. His album "As We Speak" has so many amazing memories associated with it. Great stuff!! If you don't know him, he was the saxophonist on the David Bowie song Young Americans and was SUPER popular throughout the 80s and 90s. Really awesome dude.
Anyways, keep up the great work

I don’t know much about saxophone players, but I’ve been listening to Grace Kelly lately and I’ve enjoyed her music (I’m a big fan of the Michael Connelly “Bosch” novels and the Amazon Video show that was made from them, and Connelly has a ton of jazz references in those books, so he mentioned Grace Kelly, and then she recorded a song “Blues for Harry Bosch,” which got me listening to her music)

I wanted to learn sax when I was younger, but my school would make us either play flute or clarinet before learning sax. I remember going into 5th grade we did an instrument test and I got a good sound with the clarinet, but I ended up going into choir instead or band or orchestra. Lol. I was already taking piano lessons and later started playing guitar. too. Still love sax and those sax licks/runs that you don't really hear in other instruments. I may try my hand at learning sax in the future. Either way, it's one of my favorite instruments to listen to and watch being played.

small criticism; you don’t need to add those little pieces of text next to you when you think you need to add context in post, the organic part of you just speaking into a camera overrides any benefit that, sprinkled pieces of hindsight littered through your video, could add.
edit: something that might be less impactful is editing your video to flow better/ cut pieces that don’t fit in post.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. If you watch my other videos you’ll notice I don’t do this nearly as much. I felt it was necessary for this QnA video to provide as much context and depth to my answer as possible.
I also didn’t change the order as much as I would with other videos as the point of this is not to be super attention grabbing and viral like some videos. I just wanted to answer the questions I got and provide time stamps for people to jump around to hear whatever answers they wanted. Thanks!
