Honestly, it's exactly as you mentioned, I haven't touched a lego set in 15 years and I just bought the BTS set 😂 I guess I'm roped into lego now

First bit of research I've seen anybody put into a review of this set. Props. I'm okay with this being a more reach out to others set than specifically most Lego fans as it introduces a different demographic to Lego, and it's one I don't have to consider budgeting for this year. Win/Win.
7:00 as much as I love the current LEGO ideas models, this brings up a perfect point of focusing the ideas sets as a way to intrude the hobby to non-LEGO fans. Look how quick the Office sold out compared to other LEGO ideas sets, I won't be surprised if the BTS set is the highest selling set of the year, mainly from the volume of the fan base.
Since they couldn't do the Gucci logo, a red LEGO spelled out in Gucci's font across the open jacket would've been cool.
It was really a missed opportunity! The TinyTan (a chibi version of BTS) made by Nendoroid and Q Posket have "Jimin" (the guy's name) there, and they did the same with other brand names on previous lines for other songs (they used both the artist's name and the song title). Using "LEGO" sounds really cool!

@@ShortRound42 Gucci font is probably still protected by a trademark even if the word doesn't say "Gucci". They still have to pay if they want to use even just the font. It's a big 'maybe'.

Your review is spot on, I am 60 years old and haven’t played with Legos ever, not my kind of toy, but....... I am a BTS fan and ordered this the day it came out! I am on backorder, so I think you were correct in saying it will introduce millions of BTS fans to Legos. When I was ordering it, I browsed their catalog and if I like the BTS build, I may buy some other ones that attracted my eye.
I'm a 30 year old man who's a member of BTS "Army", so big props for doing research on the members for this video, Tiago - It was totally spot-on, LOL. I particularly like when you went through the band members one by one. These guys are so big, they've spoken at the United Nations multiple times.

I love your honesty. As a BTS fan (ARMY since MOTS era), I agree with you that this is a set for ARMY and not for Lego fans. I also agree that this is the type of IDEAs set that will help Lego reach out to more people and ultimately have a big benefit to the hobby. As an AFOL, the price is not ideal and the building techniques are simple. However, I will be getting a couple of sets if I can with the aim of building a light up disco floor that looks like the one in the music video.
Simple building techniques are great for noobies like me who’s never played with Legos. Bought plenty for kids over the years.

I gotta say, I'm not into bts, but I would solely get this set for the mini-figures. They are soo incredibly detailed and the hair colors are fantastic new colors

I agree that this seems mostly for BTS fans, bc as one of those fans, I see so much abt this that make the price worth it to me.
This was an excellent review! Not just your descriptions of the set and pro/con opinions, but esp bc of how you went into the details of the band and creation of the set. And as an ARMY, I'm really happy for and proud of the designers, Josh and Jacob, for this set, so it's great whenever I see them get their credits.
The tiny album covers are sooo cute. I am not a Lego fan and got my set because I like the music (they have the most beautiful Korean lyrics), and I’m geeking out at the tiny things. I thoroughly enjoyed building this one, really takes me back to my childhood days and I’m thinking of getting more … think my inner kid just jumped out lol 🤣
As both an extremely dedicated army and an extremely dedicated AFOL, I really appreciated your approach to this review….thank you for being both respectful to BTS for the armies as well as honest about the set for the Lego fans. Given my combo of interests, there was absolutely no question that I was going to buy this despite it being overpriced and while it certainly wasn’t the most technically interesting build I’ve ever done, it was definitely one of the most joyful given the details included in the set. And I totally agree that there are now going to be thousands of non-Lego fans doing their first ever build as a result of this set which absolutely makes it a brilliant move for Lego as a company.
(And for those watching this who are unfamiliar with BTS, I can almost guarantee that they are not what you think they are. Sure, songs like Dynamite and Butter are fun bubblegum pop made in English to appeal to American radio. But if you look at literally anything else from their ten-year career and 300-song discography, you will find real art. They have entirely transcended the boyband label. Please take it from me, a 45-year-old serious music fan…they are worth your time.)
We won’t hate you for an honest review, especially from a Lego enthusiast! It’s understandably directed more towards ARMYs. I being simple definitely makes it more appealing to fans and casual listeners who have never done Lego before also! I personally wish it was a little more complex and I would love the challenge! I hope they can do more of BTS’ artistic sets in the future, such as Blood, Sweat & Tears etc!
Even though I’m not a bts fan, I think I’d probably pick this set up on sale. I like the minifigures, the ice cream truck, the basketball hoop, etc
I just completed the set. The details are amazing. There are actual bts albums in the record store and donuts in the donut store.

It is very refreshing to get a review not just nagging on BTS or their fandom, with someone being objective about the brick number, usage, features and price while still reiterating how someone else might enjoy even thought you might not be picking it up for yourself. I am a big bts and lego fan and I personally love these two worlds colliding but I understand its not for everyone and to each their own!
I appreciate how much effort you put in doing the research for reviewing this model.
Not a huge BTS Fan, but man this set is pretty! Can easily see turning this into a modular-style record shop.

I’m not embarrassed to admit that this set will be displayed along some of my bigger 4k+ piece sets. It’s a very small and simple set, but with what BTS has meant to me and millions of other people I think they deserve the spot. I am mad at myself for forgetting the release date and having to buy the set from a reseller though and having only bought one set. Usually I buy one set to build and one to save, but these price gauging scalpers aren’t getting my money twice.
It's the perfect crossover for my wife's interests (BTS Army) and my own (LEGO), so it's an automatic purchase for us. Wish there weren't so many stickers, but what're you gonna do..

I am ‘elder age’ and never bothered with Lego sets because they seemed so complicated- but as an ARMY i felt ‘obligated’ to get this set. And had so much fun putting it together! Lego was clever to make this the ‘gateway’ to get new enthusiasts!

I just went to the Lego shop near my working place, only after 1 week of it's released, it already sold out
the only set that in the shop is on the display table...
As both an ARMY and a Lego fan, you are correct about everything: the pricing is absolutely atrocious and each scene is essentially just a box. But it's really cute and it's going to look fantastic sitting alongside my other BTS collectibles.
This is the first time i’ve heard their individual names, and I can’t guarantee that knowledge will last. Still think the only thing of worth to me would be the green vest to make a manager at the boutique hotel - here’s hoping that one will be in PAB. It’s a decent set, but never one I would see myself getting even for parts. Nice review as always, Tiago

Thank you so much for your review!! As a Lego fan this is not the most exciting build but the result is very cute and I the minifigs are fantastic. As a BTS ARMY I really loved seeing you break down what all was included in the set. This is definetly made for ARMY the details are fantastic and seeing their records in the record shop made me want to buy this. Between the minifigs, the attention to detail regarding the MV plus the albums ft in the record shop I am leaning toward purchasing it now! The price may be a little steep for what you actually get, but Lego and BTS are the only areas I allow myself to splurge so I think it will be worth it to pick one up!
I really like the way you mentioned that this set is more for ARMY, less for LEGO fans, because that is absolutely right! I also think that LEGO would profit a lot more in their IDEAs series by accepting and making LEGO sets for many different kinds of fandoms. People will 100% buy LEGO sets of something they're interested in, or have a particular passion for. Loved this review, thank you for your honesty and look at the details of this LEGO IDEAs set! 💜

Thank you so much for this review! I'm not a Lego person but I've been BTS ARMY since 2018. I was interested to see that a lot of the great details are only stickers, not details imprinted on the pieces. I'm visually impaired and don't have a lot of luck trying to place stickers, get them aligned, and so forth. I was originally planning to purchase this set because I thought all I had to do was snap the pieces together, but honestly will probably pass on it now. Thanks for helping me make an informed decision! 💜
Not really an Army but I still got this Lego set since it is a historical event! I have it on display now at work and people love it.
I'm a bts fan and a lego fan. I was so excited by this set but I noticed its simplicity right away. I love that they made a set for bts but I definitely wish it was more complex/ exciting.
My only issue with this set existing is that Lego does not have a "Pop Culture" category and instead uses the Ideas line. I think if Ideas can't survive without big name sets like this, they should just remove it. But we definitely need a pop culture line for this kind of stuff going forward.
I would disagree. They've been trying their hand at pop culture with LEGO Art sets. They did the Wharhol set, The beattles, Rolling stones and probably a few more. They're doing just fine with the assortment they've been pushing, this was just a tad different from the usual stuff to test the waters I think.
If successful we can expect to see a lot more of this. Like the sitcom sets... Enough of those already 😅
@@TiagoCatarino Well I think my point is that Ideas feels more like "insert popular thing here" instead of original ideas not based on pop culture. Which is why a line dedicated to stuff like movies, music, art, TV shows, etc.. could be insanely popular.
I mean, they rebranded a TON of stuff into Icons, so... what about that? It feels like they could get a lot more focused instead of splitting so many sets like this into multiple categories.
I myself have never bought a Lego set for myself, only my kids and my wife. As new Army I couldn't resist getting this. Although quite pricey for the piece count, I just couldn't pass it up. My kids and I will be building this together. Hopefully they agree to chip in to buy me the light my bricks set for this as well!!!! Father's day gift anyone 😉
I don't care about this at all, but I would have been crazy over a Fall Out Boy set about twenty years ago, so I see the potential. If you have enough fans, fan service is the best service.
great review, I was actually impressed with the actual Lego, almost all the sets from the music video are included and there are a lot of details as well, doesn't feel like it's something generic that they just labeled with bts's name, it actually feels pretty legit imo
also, props of the research and on getting accurate information about the group, ppl don't usually take the time to actually get to know them before giving their hot takes on them lol, so thank you for that
I'm one of those ARMY who hasn't touch a LEGO set in years. Last one was around seven years ago when my now teenager son filled the house with domino rally tracks made out of bricks among other things and needed "mom's help" to achieve some of his most outrageous ideas. And my last build for myself was Frodo and Gandalf cart for LOTR. I hope I can get my hands on this set, but I can't find any store shipping to Argentina. If any LEGO fan can give me some hints I'll be thankful!

I got into BTS because of this song which I initially thought was by Bruno Mars! This music video isn’t my favourite of theirs. (They performance of Dynamite in a US TV show I forgot which, was much better). But it is iconic for its place in the history of 21st century pop and in my own life. Haven’t touched Lego in over 40 years so I am happy that this is on the “simpler” side (compared to the 1970s these are definitely more “complex”). Thanks for the review!
I appreciate that this exists for those who it's for, and after seeing the source material, the build is pretty accurate! However I did think that the build was kind of lackluster and boxy, feeling like a City facade. I'm not sure what much you could do though without sacrificing accuracy.

Yup pretty sure this set is great for those who want to reenact scenes from the music video but the amount of detail on the build makes it feel like a Lego City set from 2006
It's still too expensive
As the goal is to reach out to audiences that don't usually build LEGO sets, probably keeping the build simple was on purpose.

I am a lego fan and an army. I agree that is not the best lego ideas but as a fan, I enjoyed all the little details I found. And the machanism where they can dance in sync is really fun (I made them dance singing dynamite LOL). I still think that the price is a little too high, 80 dollars would have been enough. I liked your review
I will absolutely be picking this up sometime, it’s been 4 yrs since I got myself a Lego set. Hopefully I’ll be getting a couples sets this year.

Interesting to see the wide variety of hands. Suga has the older hands from like, 2020ish with the extremely noticeable ejector pin witness marks. J-Hope on the other hand has virtually seamless hands. Wonder if it's because of different factories? Or just a mixture of old stock? Hmmm

Love how you viewed the set through the lens of a LEGO fan. I agree, the set looks quite basic. Don't like the bare sidewalk, would have been nice to see it tiled up with a few jumper plates for the minifigures.

I was a lego fan first and a BTS fan second. But I am a huge ARMY now and you are spot on with your review. As a lego fan, I do not feel like this set is anything special, but did I buy it? Even knowing that the price point was horrible? Of course I did, because I buy anything BTS related and I really wanted the 7 figurines. Was I surprised that the set was already on back order when I logged into my VIP account just minutes after it's release? Of course I wasn't because ARMY sells out anything with BTS on it. This set is out here to reach the millions of fans who will potentially become Lego fans because of this set. Great review, and I also appreciate all the research you did on the band members and the Dynamite MV.

Excellent review! I still haven’t watched the actual music video- so, I don’t know what any of these locations really represent-but thanks to your excellent editing skills- I get it now! Lol. The hair, faces, and torsos have been done well- and omg that sticker from the official release photos from TLG killed me! I’m awful with stickers but even I would have fixed that craziness lol. You are 100% correct- this is a lego set for BTS fans- likely it will do extremely well, and if it doesn’t & ends up going on sale or there’s a double VIP promo, it’s a decent parts pack in my eyes. All in all, for the original designer’s benefit, I hope it does well- I’ll be shocked if it doesn’t. Could things have been done better? Absolutely. The price is awful, however- most lego sets these days are. I truly appreciate your ability to point out tons of details, your honesty, editing, overall opinion, all in such a very short & concise video! Good point on the whole “lego Ideas” explanation.. however, I feel like we typically see a lot of the “beautifully designed Lego models that will be changed in the final design anyways” 😂. Very great review. With regards to the thoughts on ideas, and who this set is for was Spot On in my opinion. I'm not a fan of BTS but because it's an ideas set i'll be getting it, even if its just cuz i want the stage :D
i really like your review, i watched few of them and u did ur research on the subject first (for example u make sure know all about BTS first, if any movies u get to know the movies first) then u did the Lego review. Very good and well thought review. Like certain other reviewers they just review the Lego sets and are not familiar about the themes/characters/movies that the Lego sets based upon.

Yess! I knew that stage was probably going to have a fig motion action and I'm so gratified to see I was right! I would have liked anything above the disco stage. It wasn’t like the video, sure, but it could have had a bit of anything besides a white blank wall.

My husband and children love lego and I am army to the bone. I agree the price point is terrible given the number of pieces (as someone who has many many lego in her home this was pricey for what it was). I actually almost passed on getting the set as I didn’t see anything special about it (my bias in Rm and his look isn’t my favorite here) but after seeing the album details and the stage details I was sold. My husband helped me secure a set (and he gladly racked up more vip points) and I’m excited to start my build. I do wish that the pieces were printed versus just stickers but 🤷🏽♀️. It is very clearly a lego set for bts fans not for avid lego collectors. That being said army sold it out the day of the release 🤣 the power of army is real
It is good that the reaction is sincere. I understand that for the LEGO fans this may be too simple and some of them can see it unfair that the set was chosen thanks to the power of ARMY. I have been buying LEGO for several years for my daughter, always scolding her that we have no more space to display it, the bricks are everywhere and stepping on it really hurts. And now I have bought my first own LEGO set just because as ARMY I love BTS, the set is cute and I can play with my daughter together. Is it overpriced? Yes, like most of BTS merch and LEGO things. But still it was kind of healing to build it and it looks great next to the other BTS merch. I am glad I have it :-)

I love it, reminds me of classic Town with the 4 stud wide van and the simple building facades. I've never listened to BTS, so the figures don't do much for me, but I'll totally get it on sale

ARMY here! 💜 You hit the nail on the head with your comments on how this set is good for LEGO even if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Me personally, I’ve NEVER touched a LEGO set. I always was intimidated by them, but as an ARMY I figured I’d give it a go. I have had so much fun putting this set together, and I love the cute details they threw in just for the fans. The stage is an especially cool feature.
In fact, I’ve had so much fun with this that I might start completing other LEGO sets. Never thought I’d even consider that before!
