- Live version of "Face The Day' by the Angels (aka Angel City internationally).
The concert would be circa 1983.
This VHSrip is from a 20 year old tape, so the quality isn't great. I wasn't going to upload these, but there was a request, so I might upload more if anyone wants to see them.
The audio is only mono, but I did parse it through the EQ to try and reduce the thumpy echo. If I can find an actual audio track for this show, I will reupload. - Hudba
Man, this is one of the best rock songs EVER. I love this original version and love Great White's cover even more. cant stop listening to this song and playing it on my guitar and singing it. an easy one but hey theres a million easy songs we like. what a great song!!!!!!
One of the greatest front men in Rock in Roll History.
Thankyou Ireland, Elizabeth North,ànd his wonderful parents AND OF COURSE BERNARD PATRICK
F yeah
I saw Angel City at the Paramount Theater in Portland, Oregon. I think it was 1981. The bill was Aldo Nova, Missing Persons and Angel City. Best show I ever saw. Doc Neesen was incredible.
Jd Me Too ,,It Was May 16 1980 Face To Face Tour Put On By 92 KGON I Still Have The Guest Pass Stuck On A Angel City Album... Funny My Friend Dave And I Were Just Talking About That Show And I Came Across Your Comment,, Great Show We Were Lucky To See Angel City !!!
I was at that show too!
Rip Mr.Bernard Neeson..
Saw these guys a couple of times in the 80s. F'ing great band.
The song "Cant Shake It" on Great White's 'Hooked' album is also an Angels cover. I believe one of the Angels' early tours of the US, they supported Great White.
Both versions of both songs are excellent :)
I saw Angel City in 1980 open for the Kinks at the Forum in LA. What a great concert. Damn, I miss the 80's. Damn, The world now sucks.
I was at that LA forum show
One of the greatest songs ever.
Wow this takes Me back. I was living in Portland Oregon and saw Angel City in the old Paramount Theatre. They kicked Ass. What a great Time. I can’t remember the Band that opened for Angel City but it was a Blond Haired Punk Rocker. I Remember Thinking Angel City Sounded Great Light Show was great and one more Memory the Base guitarist stood still the whole Show wow Memories.
I Was There Too 1980 Baby !!
Missing Persons

1thepner think i was there, Paramount theatre? Missing Persons opened? That the same show you saw?
1980 lived in a log cabin a few miles north of the ohio river, had a receiver and a tric/trac antenae.80 ft to the barn, it never picked up nothing, but once in a special while it would,
this song came over about 8 :13 am .. from who knows where, loved it forever, theme song
DUDE THAT IS FREAKIN COOL. I got goose bumps when I read this.
Jerry Morgan i've got an even better Angel City story, wrecked a mustang at over 100 mph, when the car finally stopped, the song Devils Gate ( off of darkroom) was still playing in the deck! I freak out and eject that bitch out of there and threw it as far as i could. Scared the hell out of me because at the time i was 16 and i wasnt ready for the Devil's Gate to open up on me!!! True story
Dennis Perin whoa! Scary!
AWESOME....Rare stuff. would love to see this stuff released commercially. Love the Angels!!!
One of my all time favourites!
Same, LOVE this song!
Awesome Aussie rock 'n' roll!!! Great band!!!
So much energy! Awesome!
What a time what, what a band, the best days of my life 1981-1990 period. The Aussie live band scene at that time was unparalleled, so many bands at the top of their game. Heard an extended version of this at Bryant's Manly Vale, Sydney circa '84-'85 the performance has never left me it was borderline orgasmic. The tailing out guitar rift must have gone on for about 4 or 5 minutes i was paralysed with emotion.
RIP Doc Neeson
The Man, The Myth, The Doc.
RIP Bernie ... you will be missed
The Angels are & will always be the best. Go DOC
bad ass song
I saw these guys in 1983. I saw them with Rose Tattoo in Brisbane.
I have a 12" single vinyl (Capitol Records) from Great White on a white vinyl pressing.
Face the Day (The long of it) side one.
Face the Day (The Short of it) side two.
Promo only - Not for retail sale.
They did a great version of the original.
Cheers, Frazzo.
RIP Doc!
They had a B side song on the back of "Into the heat" realised 02/1981 its called "Public Enemy" played to a few mates its an incredible song , give it a listen it will impress big time.
Thanks for that - I tried to estimate based on looking at Doc, but watching the clips again there's Eccles and Brewster, so I shoulda picked it as 81-85.
NocturnalVagabond It's Narara '83.
Jason West no, this is tape. The Narara gig was shot on film.
In 1985 got e see them open up for triumph
The Angels - Were Huge & struck it Rich in Europe, wile ACDC are huge in USA
Seems a little slower, this performance.
Thanks mate!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Probably 1983...lools a lot like the Narara Music Festival stage...Doc climbed up that scaffold next to the stage...The Angels were considered by far the best act over the weekend...
Not Narara. John is in this clip.
This would be from Rock Arena in 83 for The Angels warm up performance before the Countdown Awards in 83
Saw AngelCity in San Antonio,Rocked so hard; I NeverFORGOT theyr Performance.#210[420
I think it was from a Countdown awards show when the band sang 5 songs at the beginning of the show.

Great Band,

Debbie, I am SO SORRY, I hit 'remove' instead of 'reply' ..... my bad for using CZcams at 3AM :(
Thinking the same- consider them AC/DC light- tho much more dynamic,melodic...
THE ANGELS!!!!!!!!!!
@BiggerThinking1 YOU SAID IT. THE GREATEST FRONTMAN.
Sadly no - only 5 tracks, I've uploaded this one, Is That You and No Secrets, and have Watch The Red and Shoot It Up still to come, hopefully the next few days. I screwed up copying Shoot It Up from tape to disk and chopped the first 10-15 seconds, so I'm trying to find the damn tape again at the moment... :(
Doc!!!
😍
