The mother of one of my daughter’s oldest friends (since Kindergarten) just lost her 5 year battle to ovarian cancer. The mom was in the middle of making a quilt for my daughter’s friend’s daughter (her granddaughter), using the granddaughter’s receiving blankets from when she was a baby. (The granddaughter is 13 now.) Sadly, she did not finish. She got all the blocks constructed and sewn together and was in the process of quilting the backing and batting in between. When my daughter’s friend came to me and asked me if I could finish the quilt, I was both truly honored and terribly nervous! I sew clothing for my own granddaughter; I crochet afghans, but I have never quilted! Thank you so much for this in depth tutorial so I can finish a very special quilt designed by a very special angel in heaven. ❤️
I’m sure the quilt came out beautifully. You are a special person to do that for her.
I hope you finished it for her. 🙏🏼❤️😇
@@AmyThomas74 Awe, thank you for that! ❤️
@@annamarieh333 Yes, I did finish it. Now I want to learn more about quilting to make for my own family!

I watch this video for binding every time I finish a quilt. Thanks so much Donna. You are the best quilting teacher on CZcams.
Totally agree. She is the best.
Great job explaining how to finish the quilt not just creating the top! It makes the idea of starting less intimidating.😊
Donna, there are so many quilters who teach on utube. You are so good. I love your very clear and precise instructions as I'm a new enthusiastic beginner. You are the best!!!! Thank you.
This is by far the most comprehensive and thorough quilting tutorial I’ve ever watched. I feel really confident about completing my 10 year old unfinished quilt. I’ve been afraid of it until now. Thank you so much 😊
Jesus Loves You All no Matter what he is coming back soon Jesus is king my savior my everything ❤
Oh my goodness, I just found this video on Google because I’ve had an unfinished quilt in my closet for 13 years that I’ve been scared to finish because I find binding too intimidating! I’m hoping this helps me feel more brave! 😄 Hope yours turned out great!
You made the actual quilting and binding much less intimidating than many other videos.
I feel more confident that I can do this!
Still going to start small, but I can be just as proud of a table runner as anything else 🙂
Thanks so much!
Start small and grow!
I agree as well. Just finished my first quilt top and I am ready to add a border, then sandwich!
Jesus Loves You All no Matter what he is coming back soon Jesus is king my savior my everything ❤
Wow! Beginner at sewing here at 70 years old, and this is exactly what I needed to see and hear. Thank you so much!
I am a bigginer sewer too! I find Donna a great teacher
Hi Michael, I totally agree with you here. I just took up quilting in the last year, and Donna gives the best lessons. I wish School back then was this good.
Seniors having fun!!
Ditto….
This was the best explanation of borders and yardage I've seen. Thank you for your wonderful videos. You have taught me a lot. Yes please on the video of the other steps to the longarm.
This was very helpful.I have learned a lot from you and have made some of the projects. I also love the hand cuts by Matt. They are right on.
Definitely yes on video for long arm. Thank you!

Probably the most simply and complete directions I have ever seen! Saved now, thanks so much!
I’m so impressed by this presentation of so many quilting steps and tips all at once. The presenter is focused on the tasks and steps involved, is clear, concise, and prepared for teaching. The camera angles and details are excellent. I can’t wait to practice what I’ve learned here and will probably return more than once for a refresher when I’m ready to bind my first quilt.
You said it!!! I soooo appreciate her thoroughness of instruction, as well. You are an excellent teacher, Donna!!!!! Invaluable information, especially since I’ve been so scared and dreading when I get to the point of having to put on a border. You made it seem very doable. Thank you immensely!!!!!
Can’t agree more😄... she nailed it totally. Fab job.
I agree. I think she does the best videos by far. No extraneous chit chat, clear instructions and the camera work is excellent.
Me too! I'LL be downloading this for sure Thanks!
Nnnn
I have watched over 10 quilting videos, and your ‘how to quilt’ from beginning to end provided sufficient detail for me to complete a T-shirt quilt. As a beginner or one-time quilter, you described other options/methods, which was not only educational, but also encouraged me to want to attempt to make more quilts. Thank you, thank you. Subscribed.
Finally!! A Binding lesson that makes sense! Thank you Donna 👍👍👍👍👍👍😃
Even though I know the steps to finish a quilt, it was like a refreshing tutorial. The precise methods of it all. It was nice of you to present it. Your patience of teaching is appreciated! 😍 I have sooo many projects of yours on my to do list I don’t know which one to do next 🤩thank u Donna.
Very nice tutorial, makes you feel i nspire to start
One of the most helpful patchwork videos on CZcams. Thank you
As someone getting back into quilting after a 10 year hiatus, I am so glad I've found Donna and her tutorials, they're so helpful! She is a great teacher, her explanations and demonstrations are so clear. Thank you!
I am also back to quilting after 10-year hiatus. She is a great teacher, and makes it seem so easy. I wish I knew what the pattern was for this Robert Kaufman fabric quilt, I love it!!
Jesus Loves You All no Matter what he is coming back soon Jesus is king my savior my everything ❤
I would love to see more on the long arm. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach all the steps.
Donna, this was fabulous! I'm an experienced quilter but your tutorials are so smooth and methodical that I feel like tackling my UFOs right away. Thank you!
Ditto 🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️

That was simply outstanding! Clear and concise, with great production values. This is what all quilting videos should aspire to. Thank you!
Very well shown and easy to understand. Like the many ways to do binding and in a very easy way
Jesus Loves You All no Matter what he is coming back soon Jesus is king my savior my everything ❤
I've just finished a 'lockdown quilt' for my grand-daughter. It took me all year as it was quite a complex pattern. I hadn't thought about the fact that I had to back it, quilt it and bind it!! So this tutorial has been a life saver. I am so glad I've found your videos. Thank you so much as they are wonderfully clear and lovely to watch. I should get the quilt completed tomorrow. Phewph!
Don't forget to put a label on the back. We have inherited quilts from several generations. We are unsure who made them or when.
You don't need quilting classes just watch Donna do her magic!🥰🥰
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
YES!!! You said it!!!
Don't forget to add a label to your finished quilt! Whether it's a gift for someone else or a quilt for yourself, having a name & date is such a great bit of history. And if it's for a special event, add that info & the place. It can be handwritten on a fabric remnant with a archive pen or printed from the computer or embroidered - whatever works for you.
Lately I have been writing directly on the backing because I saw a quilt I MADE at a Christmas Bazar type of sale. Someone had removed my label and added hers. Needless to say I was 😠 angry. So now I write on the backing itself. Yes, it can still be covered but can't be removed.
@@midgegravelese1752 that's awful
Yes I agree
This is so important! We have inherited quilts that we are unsure who made them & when.
Donna Jordan is the best at teaching. ❤
Just watching this again to refresh my memory as I'm ready to add my borders for my first ever quilt! Made with jelly rolls in log cabin design!
Me also lol
Your a great teacher Donna! Even though I know the steps, it’s always nice to watch and see how others do it. Never know what great tips you can pick up.
Would love to hear more about your long arm machine. Happy Sewing ✂️🧵🌸💕
I would also like to see how the long arm is set up as well.
I really love the black and pink floral fabric used in the 50” square quilt. Beautiful.
Thank you. Very helpful
What a breath of fresh air! I quilt sporadically and sometimes feel like a beginner each time. I know I'll be referring to your tutorial in my journey. I especially like your attention to details like the finger pressing, which way the seams go naturally, etc. Thank you very much for making me feel like I can do more than I already have!
I'm a newish quilter and I have watched countless CZcams videos on quilting. You do the best at explaining. You're a great instructor! Thanks for all your videos.
Your machine binding steps are just geniuos! Perfectly done! You are a great teacher! Perfect timing and pauses between steps with a GREAT cameraman! Can see great! You truly lovr what you do! What a happy life you have! Blessings!
. I too would like to see more on the long arm use, like how do you do the second row of quilting and get it matched up? Thank you for your videos they are so clear and very helpful.
I come back to this many times! Thank you.
You are by far my favorite quilter for tutorials. Very easy to follow along and you do not leave things out. Alot of times I find myself talking (cussing) at the video because I have so many unanswered questions. Sometimes it causes quite the commotion because the entire family comes running to see what is wrong. Oops...
Thank you for allowing me to get through this binding without a bunch of yahoo's storming my sewing room. :)
Oh man ... I fell in love with the fabrics you used in that black/rose quilt ...
Not enough hours in the day, beds to hold - all the quilts I want to make .... and KEEP, lol
YES PLEASE a video on long arming would be wonderful! Thank you!
She has several videos, including this one. Look them up. czcams.com/video/rk8mPrK5UwE/video.html
As I did my binding I reviewed your tutorial several times until I finished my binding. What a tea Cher you are.
I could listen to Donna everyday. She explains quilting so I can understand.
You always explain everything so well. It is kind of scary when you finish the top and then what. You helped relieve some of the fear.
My jaw literally just dropped watching how you finished stitching the binding down to the top. So easy!! Just create a half inch overhang then finish with a quarter inch seam!! Wow. I've been doing the pocket method as I could never do the other complicated ways. Amazing! Thank you so much!!
Greetings, i use a thermal bating,(i live the UK) which is thicker so if this is the case with you or any other reader make your binding strip just a bit wider, to make sure you have enough to wrap round, from the front to back....
@@tadeyishu Thank you for this tip.

Very clear, easy to understand and see as you went step by step. I just bought a seeing machine and haven't sewn anything at all in 40 years. I've subscribed and am looking forward to learning as I go.
I deeply appreciate all of the effort put into this for us! Wow! I just started crazy quilt squares and I'm so inspired!
thank you Donna i wish you all blessing
Thank you, Donna, for such a thorough review of all the steps to getting quilt tops Quilted.
I would be thrilled for you to do a detailed tutorial on the Gammill since I just bought a Gammill 22” without a computer right before the pandemic hit so I wasn’t able to get my training...I’ve been relying on you tubes and some are pretty good, but there’s also a lot of confusion and everyone does it slightly different. My biggest issue is loading correctly and using pantos...Ive never seen you use them since I’ve always seen you use the computer, but I know there’s many of us who need to learn how to advance to line up correctly.
You keep your instructions simple, but cover everything and do it in a way we all understand.. your a born teacher Donna and I think I can speak for everyone when I say....thank you for taking the time to make all these great videos. Please Keep them coming
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed watching. However I was surprised to see you stitch the boarders and binding with straight seams when attaching pieces. I learned to always attach pieces with a slanted or 45 degree sewing line.
This has been the absolute best video tutorial on how to finish a quilt I have seen. All steps explained perfectly and simply. Thank you.
I would absolutely love to see the process of setting up the computer part of setting up the longarm machine. I love your very clear and precise way you have of showing us the steps of making quilts. Thank you for all you do. 💖
Thank you! I was so excited to see this tutorial on finishing a quilt top. You are a blessing to all new quilters. I would love to see a video on the long arm.
I too would love to see more on how to set up the long arm, particularly starting, stopping and matching up. Love watching your tutorials Donna!
Thank you so much, Jordan family, for creating this video. I am in the planning stage of my first full sized quilt, so this helps me tremendously!
Donna, you are amazing!!! What a wonderful instructor you are. Thank you for all you do!💕💕💕
Donna, Thank you so much for this video. I've been quilting on and off for about 30 years. I can't wait to get back to my quilting after watching your tutorial. I've learnt so much from you today. I've now got
that excitement back that I had all of those years ago. Thank you again.

Donna, this tutorial was amazing and will definitely help me finish my projects with confidence and satisfaction. I love your tutorials and have referred to them over and over again.
Thank you so very much!
Thank you so much! This is the first tutorial that I found that explains everything in a way I understand! I am new to quilting and no one explains the entire process. It all is clear now, thanks to you!
What kind of machine do you recommend for home use?

This is soooo helpful!!! Thank you, Donna for making things much simpler!!
Thank you Donna, you gave me so much knowledge and confidence to work on my quilt.
Finally, An awesome step by step that is clear for those of us novices. Thank you so much for this. Now I may be able to get my edges to look better. I have been adding the edges but had no clue on how to make those mitered corners. I love all your videos. Like others I would love to see videos on long arm however for those of us that do not own one like me I would prefer videos on how to free motion on our home sewing machine. Thanks Donna!
The borders idea is brilliant. It’s really going to make my quilt pop
This was exactly what I was looking for the presenter is extremely knowledgeable and explain it such away it is easy to understand. I’ve watched the video twice, I would recommend it for a newbie to quilting.
I am just about ready to bind my first quilt, and this was so useful to review! I had saved it in a list months ago, knowing I'd need it eventually. You explain things so precisely!
Thank you so much, Donna! I am a first-time quilter and have hardly sewed before in my life! You have no idea how many times I’ve watched segments of this video. Very helpful. I’ll look for others of yours.

PERFECT instruction and very detailed for the newbie quilter. Thank you for putting so much time into your videos, they teach us newbies SOOO much! Please don't stop and yes, I'd love to see a video on the computer setup of the longarm. Also, thank you for reminding us that quilting isn't about 100% perfection, it should be about having fun!
That was one of the best tutorials I’ve seen on any subject. All the techniques were presented precisely and you didn’t waste one second of our time on anything unnecessary. It was a pleasure to watch and learn!
That was a wonderful tutorial and perfect timing as I’m about to sew binding on today and have never done it on my own so I will be great to have this video beside my machine. Keep up the great teaching 👏

I would love to know more about long arm quilting. I really love your quilting tutorials.. my husband tells people he goes to bed ever night with me and Donna Jordan. Haha. He wakes up and knows what a seam allowance and how to bind. X

So happy you did this for us beginner's!!! Thank you!!
And yes, I would love to see a detailed video on how the long arm works.
I wanted to have a go at quilting, having very tiny amount of sewing knowledge, thought it would be really hard. But your tutorial really made me feel I can do this and get excited. I was very lucky to win a sewing machine recently and am learning how to use it, I've started with napkins to practice and now have the bug ~ quilting here I come
Happy for you! Have you made a quilt now?
If you use the precuts - 5" squares (charm packs) or the long, 2 inch strips, most of the cutting is done for you. And a good, sharp rotary cutter & rulers - it goes pretty fast and helps you to be accurate!
I'm pretty sure that I speak for the Entire quilting community when I say we are AlWayZ so Happy when we gain another quilter...

Wishing you all the best.
