Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. first of all, I adore this song. And I recall watching the entire program on HBO, I think it was. And nevermind Stevie getting emotional because of the power of the lyric...but right about the same time he started crying, I did too. Because in 1987 or '88, when this show arired, I was living in San Francisco when men (and a number of women, too) started dying left and right, from AIDS...I had lost, and was STILL losing friendly acquaintances and friends that were closer to me than some family members. One of Dionne's best friends, was her valet (his name was Richard)...and he died of AIDS.. So, yea....when this concert aired, we were pretty much bearing witness to what AIDS was doing and continued to do, well into the 90s, before better medications were manufactured.

How brilliant is Stevie Wonder ? beyond the stratosphere his talents lie. A beautiful song that I have loved for years and years when he recorded it with the elegant Julio Iglesias. This live version I just happened to stumble upon and am so glad that I did. Dionne Warwick is beautiful too such a smooth calming effortless voice that she has compliments Stevie's , and the harmonica playing.. well out of this world. Would love to know when this concert was recorded I would say late 80's, the single with Julio was released in 1988 and Stevie wrote it for Julio and himself. Thanks for sharing.
