Marko said in an interview that he wrote the song for his wife and that along the way he ended up bringing together two old friends, in this case him and Tarja. About being an alien he says that he never fit in anywhere and discovered a while ago that he has ADHD, and that made him understand better who he is. Tarja and Marko have renewed their friendship and are touring together to celebrate this. It's beautiful to see them both on stage happy.

Ahh thanks for the explanation and meaning. It’s had narrative but then changed to another. The power of music

This is his solo band, he also has his original band Pharoh and now works some with Tarja's band during their South American tour

Small correction. Not Pharoh, but Tarot. Tarot goes way back into 80's, being Marko Hietala's first and most known original metal band. First album, 'Spell of Iron' was released 1986 and 'Gravity of Light' (2010) was their latest.
One of their big hits was debut album's "Spell of Iron", which perfectly showcases the sound of the band and young Marko Hietala's voice. Rare music video can be checked here: czcams.com/video/Z7vGdz5YTwI/video.html

Hey, mate! Loved your reaction! 🥰Thanks for this! I love this song, the sort of "classic old school rock" vibe with bluesy sort of feels, the synthetizer and the strings arrangement on the background (not to mention Marko's crazy awesome bass line in the beginning), and especially I love the fact that the meanings behind it are sort open to interpretation (I like your take on it btw). To me it's more like he feels he doesn't fit anywhere in this bloody world, he never did and not by choice, but still tried hard to meet the expectations of others to the detriment of his self in order to be accepted ("I never chose to be an Alien/And I turned page after page"). It's as if the essence of who he really is simply is too diverging from everything on Earth, he's completely dissociated from everything in this planet, does not belong anywhere and feels all alone because of that, forsaken, misunderstood, causing his heart to give in to rage and sorrow. They're just looking for a home, and what better home for an alien than Mars (Mars maybe being a symbol of the feeling of finally belonging somewhere or with someone who understands him and is just like him, an "alien", and they finally find home in each other). And despite all rage and hatred, they still believe in each other (that part of the video where their foreheads touch, OMG🥲). It's also so relatable! Who among us never felt that way during our lifetime, like an alien or even a freak, longing for a home, a place (not necessarily literal) where we can be ourselves and just belong?
I don't believe Marko intended to aim it to Tarja, but I mean, it's so fitting their trajectories, their individual journeys to find themselves and express their souls through their Art: both of them are "aliens" of sorts both as individuals and as artists; they always got along well and I think they have this vocal and stage chemistry and became friends while in NW for this reason, perhaps they understood each other, but then all that drama followed involving Tarja and the guys (including Marko - once he himself said that he felt like he had lost a friend, a sister; they treat each other like wise brother and sister, it's lovely🥰), and then years later Marko had his own personal issues which led him to leave the band... They both kind of felt isolated (in different moments in time, ofc) and overcame their respective inner struggles, pains and challenges, so they were always meant to find their way back to each other sooner or later, like kins or kindred spirits ("Alone together left on Mars", as says the last line of the song), that's how I see it! I'm not saying it's the truth, it's just one possible interpretation and I do find it beautifully fitting this moment of their lives 😍🖤

Exactly it’s down to interpretation and I don’t think you’re far off. What you said makes sense and I think it aligns better with the song 😊.
Thanks for watching and yes hello again 😊

@@KaireemReactions Hello!☺ Yes, that's it, I mean, the poetic beauty of art is that it's subjective, therefore there's not actually such a thing as right or wrong, it just is what it is and resonates within each person differently. Oh, btw, I just found out that Marko originally intended this song as love song to his wife, then it became a reunion between long-time friends (him and Tarja) and he quickly realised that what he wrote was actually bigger than he first thought it was, because it brings a multiplicity of meanings and all of them are true.
Anyway, thanks, mate! See you around☺
