    I put some signs up where the front car needs to be for each loading, pull forward put another small marker sign, then you can stay in the loco while you load and move.

    if you put a *X* between the switches as you lay out the yard it spaces better the switch stand dont foul track beside etc. after all is laid I remove the *X* tracks and replace with normal track

    Thanks for the video. At least the stoker didn't have to get out and push the train uphill 🙂

    I don't have a video but I usually put myself in rerail mode so I can fly and then without right-clicking or opening the construction menu I select the Theodolite and use it to measuring for average grade not using it as an exact number the grade has to reach, if I can make the grade shallower I would go with that. I recommend when planning a route placing theodolites at their maximum distance between them (just before they stop measuring grade because they're too far apart), I don't know if it affects anything but having the spyglass line up with where the other is helps in my experience but I just assume it does.

    I've found that once trains get much past 8 cars long, it's just easier to load 4 cars at a time and build the long trains that way. I like it because I get to do some switching!

    While I can believe that a Black Sheep version of the game would be quite a bit better than what we have right now, especially after we got their performance update recently, there's issues on so many levels that they can't possibly fix all of them.
    I still mainly play on my second playthrough, modified industry placements on Pine Valley. Tried the other maps, but PV is still my favourite. I'm up to around 500 cars by now and that performance update makes it run quite nicely. I was lucky to get 12fps a few updates ago and after the map update it was a straight up slideshow, but now it's around 30fps.
    I recently made a list of things the game should have for 1.0 and that's 17 items long (after posting it on the subreddit and adding some more things from the comments, because it's impossible to keep track of it all). And honestly I don't even consider that list exhaustive.

      I feel ya. This old nerd runs Afterburner on PC and benchmark everything. After loading the textures, I confirm some improvement and 15- 55 fps, with VRAM usage an astonishing
      10 to 12 GB. I have a 16GB Videocard laptop. This game may run BETTER on consoles or AMD Cards?

    • @Skirakzalus
      @Skirakzalus Před měsícem +1

      I have an AMD PC, also with 16GB VRAM. Solid 60fps on a fresh map according to the AMD software. Loading my playthrough it's still a mostly stable 30fps as long as nothing is moving, only going to 27 if I go into an area with an excessive amount of cars (~150). However while on that save my VRAM usage exceeds 15GB.

    Running a narrow-gauge empire as singleplayer in RRO requires end of line loops, especially when running multiple trains simultaneously. Thats a crazy (and fun) control challenge in teleportation between two or more trains. When I resume my save the industry settings will be "easy". Always realistic physics tho. I play the game solo, as if running a good model railroad operating session.

    Even today ridiculous branch lines exist. Up until WW2 ended, Madison Indiana had standard gauge trackage that went from barge unloading on the Ohio River up 400 ft. elevation to the AMMUNTITIONS plant that was located near where Clifty Fall State Park is now. The grade had a 7000' length with an incline almost 6% from the River to Clifty Falls summit then branched to various industries. Needless to say, there was a runaway spur located at the Ohio River end of the line! Trackage was not cogged.

    Put a very long straight from the grain farm down to both the sawmill and water tower. Got my Porter going 55 before it bounced off the tracks.

    I don’t know if you saw the update awhile back but the position of your reverser actually matters now and the top speed of the Montezuma and other locomotives is higher now

    • @KerboOnYT
      @KerboOnYT  Před měsícem

      I did see the update and the reverser position does absolutely nothing other than change direction as far as I can tell. What do you think it is doing?

    • @Roboticus_Prime_RC
      @Roboticus_Prime_RC Před měsícem +2

      @@KerboOnYT you need to be in motion and gradually bring it back in small increments. The Monty isn't really powerful enough to get much speed when you have many cars, or going uphill.
      So, start at 100%, then move to 80ish when full speed, and keep moving it like that. I can usually keep Monty going around 20mph with 8 of the big log cars on flat ground

    • @Roboticus_Prime_RC
      @Roboticus_Prime_RC Před měsícem +2

      The bigger locos are much easier to see the difference.

    On the 3-way switch, it doean't show degree rotation any more. I think they opted for 8 & 2 to select side to link to a track instead. To me, I wish they would have kept the degree option since I use both depending on the application.
    When you are laying a track at 50.0 meters, I find it easier to get when I select 1 meter grid instead of 10 meter. Give it a try.

    So the snap of the switches, buffers and crossovers that go the wrong way. I push 2 on the number pad and then they work. Not a clue why but it's what I figured out

    I really hope RO! improves, and that what Studio 346 has shown so far is inspiring them to improve a fairly janky game. I know it's why a lot of streamers stop and start RO!, especially when they're doing multiplayer servers, heck, it's partially why Hyce started the project for Century of Steam.

    Does the dead end track in the wye serve a purpose or is it just because of the angle of the other tracks?

    • @KerboOnYT
      @KerboOnYT  Před měsícem +1

      It's a 3-way switch, so I add a bit of track there just in case I would accidentally go that way
