Canada wins gold in thrilling overtime over Team U.S.A.

- Alex Carpenter scored the first two goals of the game for the Americans, but Brianne Jenner and Jamie Lee Rattray found the back of the net under three minutes apart in the second period to tie it. In overtime, captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored the golden goal to win it for Canada and snap their nine-year gold medal drought.

That second Canada goal, the tip in, was a thing of beauty.
Great hands on the first Canada goal too. Backhand to forehand in tight. Rattray is Aboriginal and had a killer NCAA career. That tip in was world class. Super OT winner. Great game between two excellent teams who went at it hammer and tongs the whole game. No loser here. Winner for women's hockey.

When it was 2-0 USA I was worried, scoring 3 unanswered goals against a team like USA would be difficult but clearly not impossible! A great team will always find a way.

I'll put any Varsity team out of say Minnesota, or the Little Caesars 18 U team against the best team made up of Canada's and US women's teams and they will smoke the ladies. Congrats to Canada (and US for making the final) but I am a huge hockey fan and had no clue this tournament was even going on. I thought it had been canceled.

And I think you misunderstood what she meant by a clutch goal scorer... its not about the overall skill level, its about the ability to score a goal at the most critical time to win a game, and not just once but several times... to say that a men's minor league team can "smoke" the women's best players from USA & CANADA does not mean the men's team are full of "clutch" goal scorers... I agree the skill levels are different between the sexes but why would you even bring that up in this venue? Do you have a grudge against females?
What a badass tip on that second goal- and the winner was brilliant too. These women were golden, no doubt about it.

Team Canada won Gold. They played well scoring last goal high and out of reach. Miss watching it as they do not have the games on Digital as before weird when the channels are Canadian. Commentators need to give Jocelyne Larocque a huge shout out. Best defence player in Women's Hockey. Canada wouldn't have won without her solid, competitive performance. The woman is amazing as she logs miraculous ice time. Proud of her effort and work ethic. She plays to win Gold for her country at the IIHF Worlds and Olympics. (Not Silver). The US is still relying on their fire power over defense. What were they doing on Poulin's goal? Cameranesi who was tracking Poulin decided at the last minute to drift towards Jenner leaving a huge lane for Jenner's pass and leaving Poulin completely alone to descend on the goal. That is a real head-scratcher.
