- The final episode of India Votes 2024 looks at the nation’s economic boom as it heads towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy. Prime Minister Modi wants India’s GDP to hit $US7 trillion by the end of this decade. Despite the growth, the question is who is benefitting? Tesla is projected to have 1 Billion Optimus bots by 2030 and China will surely have even more than that. The demographic ‘dividend’ will be a nightmare when most jobs are replaced by robots. Robots can work 24-7. Robots can be instantly upgraded via software. They work in weekends and public holidays. They can work without the lights or toilet breaks. Unemployment is already a massive issue in India and even more so in the future.

A lot of thanks to ABC for bringing this lovely report. I think you have hit the problem right on its head - India's demographic dividend cannot be harnessed only through gainful employment. BJP missed the whole point, they did not address this problem adequately. Loved the young people from Delhi - they are so eloquent.
