Indian elections: The real story behind India's economic growth | India Votes 2024

  • The final episode of India Votes 2024 looks at the nation’s economic boom as it heads towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy. Prime Minister Modi wants India’s GDP to hit $US7 trillion by the end of this decade. Despite the growth, the question is who is benefitting? We’ll be heading into Dharavi, India’s largest slum to gauge the views of struggling workers and families who will be casting their votes in this massive election. Finally, we hear from India’s youth to understand why a significantly smaller proportion of young Indians are exercising their democratic rights to cast their ballots.
INDIA VOTES 2024, presented by the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) is a six-episode series that takes you on an insightful journey through the heart of Indian democracy. While the Indian Prime Minister #NarendraModi is seeking a third term, a brand new Coalition is on the bloc - the I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) featuring key opposition leaders such as Congress scion Rahul Gandhi, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee, and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal among many others.
INDIA VOTES 2024 goes beyond the headline and daily coverage to explain critical topics and issues facing Indian voters as they participate in the elections of the world’s largest democracy.
Subscribe now as we unravel key issues of #Indianelections through engaging explainers and provide context and clarity on the influence of politics on citizens. Subscribe: ab.co/3yqPOZ5

Tesla is projected to have 1 Billion Optimus bots by 2030 and China will surely have even more than that. The demographic ‘dividend’ will be a nightmare when most jobs are replaced by robots. Robots can work 24-7. Robots can be instantly upgraded via software. They work in weekends and public holidays. They can work without the lights or toilet breaks. Unemployment is already a massive issue in India and even more so in the future.
