I absolutely loved the demo, but it was the first game where I switched to English where Japanese voice was available. Not because the VA was bad, but because your team members talk to you in combat, and it's pretty hard to concentrate on 2 place, and the English VA is pretty damn decent too :)

@@SakuraGundamR34 Yeah, I play all my JRPGs in Japanese as well, but this, no, it was way too inconvenient to do so. Looking at subs to see what your teammates are telling you while also concentrating on battle is just a no-go. The English voice cast is pretty damn decent luckily, so I'm not too bothered by it.

I'd give the game like a 7.5. Beginning was fun and interesting but late game repetitiveness, pacing, and issues took a lot of enjoyment out towards end.
P.S. the ending level is total crap. WAY TOO LONG and throws endless areas at you with minimal story to flush out villain, 2 hour level with 3min story. Final boss was good though.

Interesting that you say that the characters are one-dimensional. I'm playing Kasane's route rather than Yuito's and all of the characters have been very good so far. I did think that Yuito seemed more basic and generic than Kasane did, which was what prompted me to play her route first, so I think that might be the problem on your end. A lot of Yuito's party ends up having bond episodes with Kasane anyway so I think they'll reveal a lot more character on my second time through just because I already know more interesting facets of their personality through Kasane's episodes. Yuito seems completely like a "generic good guy anime protagonist" so it wouldn't surprise me that much if his interactions with the other characters were also pretty basic. Kasane is much different and her character development, along with the development of her relationships with the other characters, has been a pretty stand out element of the story for me, at least compared to your typical action anime.

For the amount of VO of cut scenes, I think the price is well worth it. Story wise, I just finished the yuito side of things, there are some questions still left unanswered but at least not that convoluted in the end. They do still try to explain, some things. But overall I think the anime is the supplement for this. Thinking if I should play the Kasane side of things. Maybe on ex mode. But yes, difficulty wise I feel there's not much a difference from the different settings.

I'm level 20+ right now and some of the new areas have some really challenging battles leading up to the boss battle. Few things I noticed since I started with Kasane
Probably about I'd say half way through and a bit after that (when you're bond level is 4+) the game became too easy. Not too sure how Yuito worked but WIth Kasane you can build her in a way where you can crush enemies easy and basically always have your powers up. Especially towards the end where you can always invis, slow time, clones with one team then invincibility and fire for the other...
Story wise it's kinda just okay... typical anime I suppose but they went way too far with the twists for the sake of twists. Places you explore are lackluster, glorified corridors... NPCs that add nothing. I dunno pretty let down by the game myself. I suppose it's a nice casual hack and slash. With only one boss that was noticeably harder if you didn't know he had a blind spot on his side on Kasane's run.

A extremely well developed game with no bugs, deep progression systems and an actual anime being developed along side it. Your complaint is still images? It's done like that purposefully. Given his remark about how each playthrough is 50/50 in terms of story differences based on who you pick again leads me to believe he was trying to speed through this game (this would only give him about 10 hours for each playthrough, which sounds like a speed run to me if each playthrough is supposed to be around 25-30 hours according to other reviewers and the devs for each character). This would explain why he thinks sidequests don't exist and why he sounds frustrated that the cutscenes equal out the gameplay.

I have seen zero side quests in that time, though there are companion episodes that are just more cutscenes. I don't know if these count as "quests", or not, because you don't actually do anything but watch dialogue...

@@k.constantine Hey I can answer a few questions based on demo. The basic combat (I.e w/o psychic stuff) can be described as a more casual nier automata. Most of the basics are there, although the dodge in this game is more of a step-dodge. Idk if it’s the s but I had trouble dodging ‘into’ attacks for the perfect dodge. Light attack 4+ combo and a heavy attack, both characters have unique attack properties. Heavy attack is usually used after a string of attacks and can be used in the air or for a ground strike. There are perfect dodges, but from what I’ve played in the demo it’s much less forgiving than nier or bayonetta, however a party members SAS mechanic makes perfect doges/counters more easier to achieve. Air dodges, 2+ SAS (using other characters abilities), tech recovery after being attacked and a few more things are from the brain map. There are also extended combos implemented with attack->physic-attack-psychic etc from the brain tree.
Certain party members can ‘parry’ or take damage for you but it’s random; there are also assist attacks which appear with a button prompt and usually stagger enemies. I believe the frequency or added effects increase with your bond with the character, but besides that I’m not sure what prompts them. The combat doesn’t seem extremely deep or even complex but it is highly serviceable. There’s a few no hit runs on CZcams already.

I have a channel if you even want to call it that. 1 video lol. I think I touched on how anime game level design is lazy, boring and stagnant in most cases. This is just a pattern in Eastern games that I've noticed. Which turns me off from most anime looking games. Because if they are not a anime fighter, or a gacha game. Its a rare anime action game with flat environments, floaty models, etc.
Im not saying western games don't game their issues. These are just some of the plagues that are iconic to me in eastern games, specifically of the anime like games.

Looks like I’ll wait till it’s $29.99, unfortunately by the time it becomes cheap a better game will come out that will shadow this title and then forgotten.

This game is a must buy for me lol. If you aren’t into anime, the style or combat then you aren’t gonna like the game.

Or if you hate that the gameplay is only 20-25 hours for each character....and the 2nd playthrough is a lot of repeated scenarios. Story has big plot holes.
If you wanna drop 60 bucks on on a linear game like this instead of waiting till its heavily discounted, that's on you.
I would rather wait till.... YS 9, skyward sword re-release, tales of arise, etc
