Yes I have been there, as a tourist…. and I felt in love with this country! I think Norwegian people are educated, they don’t talk to much, and they really speak English very well ! I was impressed about the USA influence there! The prices absolutely crazy ! 😊. The nature was the best thing I have ever seen! I ‘d Like to come back to see Northern lights!

I was a bit surprised. Some of the stereotypes seems to be just a stenotypes. But I've spent in Norway only three days. First thing I'm getting on the bus stop and a Norwegian man starts a small talk with me, he's not worried about me not speaking Norwegian, he'd be totally comfortable to have a small talk in English. I'd agree about rare eye contact with others on the street. And my friends were surprised when the waiter left the change on the table saying no single word.
I think I'd love to live there, because of two reasons: one is the people - the more I learn about them, the more I see I'm just the same. I live in England and don't like this wide spread shallow kindness here, that feels far from honest (edit: In my personal opinion). I'd prefer Norwegian way to be distant at first but open and true to feelings if being known to each other for longer.
The second, I just love outdoors, hiking and wild camping and all the nature.
Thank you for your videos Anna. Tusen takk, ha en god dag!

The reason why don't talk during a twelve hour hike isn't only that we're shy (although we are that too). On walks as long as that you have to conserve energy and of course also focus on walking across rugged terrain so you don't stumble and fall.

Good video as always Anna, and being Norwegian I'm not offended at all .. (not publicly :-P). I tought you made good points, I'm a introvert and I suppose thats pretty common among us, I enjoy my own company alot and because of health issues can't get walking as much as I would love to, and miss it every moment too... I miss being able to walk in the mountain, or go hunting as I used to do as younger... or the fishingtrips on mountain lakes.

Horns on the helmets doesn't come from Sweden, or any Scandinavian countries. Vikings never had horns on their helmets. It never happened, and it's just a myth that has later become ''pop-culture'' assosiated with the ''stereotypical viking''. The Gjermundbu helmet is the only viking helm discovered, which was found in Norway. The myth about the horned helmets comes from a Wagner Opera play, and is possibly also influenced by the fact that English monks described the raiding Vikings as ''devils'' or ''demons'', which is often creatures depicted with horns.

@@AnnaGoldmanTravel Yes, helmets with horns have never been real. No real viking helm discovered had ever any horns or markings from horns, it's all just a myth and ''pop-culture'', made famous by an old Wagner Opera play and possibly from ancient text from English monks describing the vikings as ''spawns of satan'' and such things. In short: Vikings never had horns on their helmets, it's all just made up and never had anything to do with reality.

I am Norwegian but has spent the last 20 years in UK. Even if I find the British to be (relative to other nations) in many ways similar to Norwegians with certain differences of course. One of the most annoying things for me in UK is that democracy does not really work very well. They have this system that in theory if you get 50.1% of the votes for Parliament you could actually get 100% of the representatives, the MP's. As the constituencies are only one person, not like for example in Norway where it could for example be 10, so if you get only 5-6% of the votes in one Norwegian constituency you could very easily be elected to be an MP, something which of course is totally impossible in UK. The result is that democracy is flawed, and since UK is SO conservative this will never change, of course to do with the two largest parties ALWAYS will defend it. Also if you have a problem in Norway which can be related to a law that needs to be changed Norwegians would of course see this as the solution, change the law. In the UK people look at you like you have ten heads if you suggest to change a law in Parliament, it's almost equal; to suggesting to change the laws of nature. So UK is great in many ways (it's in the NAME for Christ sake; Great Britain) but I must say I struggle with some of it. Also that UK has no personal numbers for people, so you have to identify yourself with name and a "utility bill", ridiculous. So many problems in UK as it's often impossible to actually find where a person is. In Norway institutions like banks etc can just look at the personal number and address and everything just pops up in no time, makes things so much more efficient.

Just a norwegian checklist up to date :) Things are a little more complicated now though however due to price fluctuations and what not, electricity is insane, gas (AKA Fuel) has insane prices as well.... So yeah, but our biggest benefit of all is that we are expensive, which means when we go to places like Germany, Turkey, or any other european country.... It's dirt cheap :)
Norwegians love being alone : True, with exceptions. Either family or drinking (as you mentioned)
Can do everything : Not everyone has this mindset, only a select type of people has this mindset... But, most people overall, if it's realistic enough within their budget and materials
The inner viking : Yes, we don't care for winter, we were once the type of vikings that was most feared (fun fact)
Manners and behavior : We can be polite, but.. We don't like talking, pretty much accurate
How to greet norwegians : Simple, we don't anymore, unless it's within respect, personally I don't do hand shakes or anything like that...
Punctuality : Not sure what to say really
Money Talks : We do talk about our money... But, some of us don't like talking about it...
Friends : Yes, we are very good friends :)

As if you look up someones earnings you will have to log on with your name, so the person you have looked up will be able to see that you had a sneaky look, something which is extremely embarrassing and of course this does not really happen unless it's special reasons for it, or you are famous or very rich, in that case some newspaper or similar would do it for the purpose of publishing the result.I think it's a good thing as transparency is good to avoid corruption etc.

"Norwegians are not very social people"..really? unlike most other countries on the planet or what? I am a very social person with the right people.. that is, if I sense that we have at least some things in common- pretty basic, don`t you think so? Alcohol: I don`t drink much alcohol, I don`t need it to be social.. and I know quite a few other Norwegians with the same attitude. Having said that, I DO enjoy the occasional beer/glass of wine etc. I don`t think I am very shy, besides; you can find shy people in ALL countries on the planet. I am probably not the loudest person at a party (personally , I find these people annoying), but also not the most quiet, far from it. "Eye contact with strangers is avoided"? really?!! I guess, it depends on. I haven`t noticed much difference (if any) between how people behave on the streets here in Oslo, compared to Copenhagen, Berlin, Munich, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Cologne..or Sydney ,Australia for that matter..

@@bjrnjensen7074 if I try to make eye contact and the person notices me and I smile or nod a little or wave and he/she ignores me, is it "staring" if I continue looking after that or does it become "staring" long before?

If you don't mind I'd like to ask you some more questions
I definitely won't cold approach people on the street just for chitchating but if I join a hobby group is it easy to make friends? Or is it just moderately hard? Or still really hard?
