    I had to google this because today was the first time I experienced this with VR and WOW!!!!!!!!!! I had NO IDEA that technology had advanced this far! At one point I looked from above Earth and I swooshed down and my stomached just dropped and I had to slow down. I fount my house and WOW!!! Its just a WHOLE NEW perspective on life. Its like we are all living on this planet and we are so tiny but I realized that even though we are tiny, we can create strong and powerful effects that can ripple across the world!

    • @theskii
      @theskii Před 5 měsíci

      @@rogermoreno1152 Typically you will see a little more bottlenecking graphically on VR due to a closer view of the screen and the console having to render 2 1080p monitors all the while tracking gyro and location in space. Also, the VR game space is just generally newer, so you might not see as high quality games as you do with AAA releases on standard consoles.

    If there is any one app that must be experienced in VR its Google earth VR. If you already like Google Earth in general , then get ready to have your socks blown off, as you transported inside that virtual world full immersive presence. Its insane. More over they mixed the virtual world along side the real world via photogrammetry satellite data capture, and full on photography street view. so you can travel places you now virtually and then switch to the real imagery if so desired. Its so cool visiting the places you already know quite well, as it enables you to accurately judge just how well their process has achieved. you feel like your transported back into that environment. Often you will find low res geometry capture, but it matters little when overall you get that sense that scale and proportions are indeed accurate to that of the real world. i cant imagine what the future will hold, cameras around the world not just capturing regular imagery but also lidar data. in truth one could see this extending to real times data streams. It already exists but not for consumer level access. LEts not forget Google earth itself use to be Keyhole, for the military.

      May I ask, why did you sell it? I have been looking into buying one but I feel that the resolution may be a bit too low- I have been spoilt with a 3440x1440 ultra wide monitor.

    • @theichytype
      @theichytype Před 7 lety +1

      It varies from people, many with the Vive I heard love it, but for me although some VR contents are cool, most tend to last very short (you can see Steam reviews play time). More reasons would be my play area is under room scale so the wires are really annoying and I kept bump into stuff, and it's just that I need money more at this moment :)
      Also yes the resolution isn't good when I'm looking at sedentary stuff with very obvious screen door effect; when I'm moving or it's dark it's pretty immersive (but then again limited to small play area which became impractical to me)

    • @tested2032
      @tested2032 Před 7 lety

      Andy Lee thanks for the reply! Yeah the low playtimes is something I noticed when checking out the earthvr steam page- 0.1 hours on record- lol. The conundrum is that i have a gtx980 which i feel like would be wasted if I didnt put it to good use, as when vr gets higher resolution (likely gen 3 vr: 2-3 years away) my 980 will be too weak and irrelevant. I also am also thinking of renting my vive out, charging people about 10 bucks for an hour or two of gameplay. This could compensate for half of the purchase cost, and i would just sell it when gen 2 (probabally wireless) comes out. Did you have many friends who showed much intrest in trying out your vive? Lastly, have you trued any source engine games (portal, tf2 ect), i play tf2 alot and am wondering if first person shooters work well in vr. Thanks!!!

    • @theichytype
      @theichytype Před 7 lety

      980 is great for high end desktop games! I had 970 and the fan kicks in loud with many games in ultra settings. Oculus Rift has new tech which enables 960 to run it so can't say for sure but I'd guess 980 can handle next gen if Vive follow up something similar.
      Some friends that asked about the Vive are mostly pc gamers or just curious what VR is. Once a friend came to try it, we moved all the stuff out to make it room scale, he ended up playing The Lab Longbow for straight 4 hours lol (by then I only played 2), it was late at night so could've been longer.
      I heard Onward is the top VR FPS game. Haven't played it yet but look at that steam play time compared to other titles. xD

    it would be cool if there were like "monuments" or like little info boxes integrated in the map that you could turn on and off so like you could be looking around some where and ask, like oh whats this mountain, or whats this building, or whats the significance of this rail road and a Wikipedia article or something could pop up. Sort of like a guided tour of the entire earth in VR
