    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks!! For the interview, I would definitely say not to worry about it. As far as I know they mainly use it as a check to see if you still stand behind your choice to apply to AUC and whether you did not fully 'bullshit' your application. For me, the person literally told me at the start of the interview that he did not see any reason for me not to get admitted so yeah it was definitely not as stressful of an experience as I expected it to be 😅

    Thanks for the video! I already applied about two weeks ago but your video was super informative and enjoyable :)) I was wondering how long does it take to hear back from the admission team and when are interviews usually scheduled?

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před 3 lety +1

      If I am correct the interviews usually take place sometime in April, so I think you should expect a yes/no decision for the interview near the end of March. I am not sure though because I applied as an early bird three years ago.

    Lovely video! I just submitted my application yesterday and with this video realized that I took a different approach to the interest in the AUC program essay. Instead of talking about the program in general, I talked about my interest in the courses I put in my study plan since in Embark the study plan was basically in the same box as the interest in AUC essay. I dedicated 2/3 of the essay to my background and how I developed these interests and only in the last section did I emphasize why I think AUC would be the place to pursue all of the facets of my academic aspirations. I also didn't realize how different AUC is from other dutch programs, and I wonder if I screwed it up because of that. As you can tell I'm very nervous I didn't do it right...

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh noo! I understand this feels very stressful, but I don’t think you should worry too much. If you are clearly passionate about the courses you want to pursue and AUC allows you to pursue them in that combination, I don’t see why that would be a reason to reject your application. It is always easy to get scared about what you did when you find out others did it differently, but remember that many people will have interpreted the instructions in many different ways. Also, although my interpretation might be slightly more informed than that of most, that does not mean at all that it is the one and only acceptable interpretation. So don’t worry, I am sure you will be fine ❤️

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před 3 lety +3

      My references were written by my English teacher, who I knew quite well because we often talked about shows and books we liked, and my Biology teacher who had already written me a recommendation letter before for a pre-university program. What I did exactly at AUC is quite a long story but I will add it to my video idea list! ❤️

    hi Jaël, not sure if you still check the comments on this video but, I'm applying to start in sep 2023 and i have some questions:
    - do you *have* to live on campus or can i continue living at home since i am closeby already?
    - i have autism spectrum disorder, should i mention this or avoid it? it does impact my grades but, i don't want to make myself look worse😭.
    - do you know if submitting your application by the early deadline (dec 1) makes a big difference on your chance of getting accepted? did you submit it dec 1 or feb 1?

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před rokem

      - Living on campus is mandatory
      - It is illegal to discriminate based on disability in admissions, but of course you can never be sure whether people actually uphold that... I think if I were in your shoes I would mention it if your grades were impacted by it, but also make it part of your personal story and highlighting ways in which it sets you apart from other candidates in a positive sense. Hope that helps somewhat (I cannot speak on this from personal experience)
      - I applied for the early deadline, but I am quite sure it only gives you advantage when picking rooms (I got a single room in my first year because of this)
      Good luck with your application!! ❤️

    also, i have a question : do you have to live in the campus? or can i stay somewhere else if i want to and can't afford the housing tuitions?

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před 2 lety

      Yes you have to live on campus! And to be honest, that is definitely the best deal in terms of costs that you will get for housing in Amsterdam. If you live in a shared unit you usually pay between 200 and 300 euros a month, and for a single you will pay 300 after rent benefit. To compare, the average room in a shared unit in Amsterdam is approximately 600 euros. So I am afraid that you won't find a cheaper option than AUC offers anyways :(

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't think there is a real example, but a list/table with courses you want to follow and some justification why you want to follow those courses should be enough
