i bought the xiaomi redrice too from ebay.com. only over US $200. I love it very much. everything in the phone are working great and i would highly recommend to other people. I do not want to spend $700 over to pay for a brand name. brand-name phones are just a bit more widgets and fancy stuff, i do not need it at all. next time i will by a Octa-core and feel the great performance. Hurrah! Chinese are great, wonderful!!!!

I imported a Huawei Honor 2 in 2012 to my homecountry The Netherlands when almost no one even had heard of Huawei over here. They laughed at me and look where they are now, it was Galaxy S3 performance for half the price, never had problems with it.

Bought a Huawei Ascend P6 after owning an iPhone (hated it due to the obsessive iTunes slavery you're forced to deal with to upload ANY files on it) and later a HTC Incredible S, and have never looked back.
It's the nicest phone i've ever had. Honestly didnt expect that good quality as it was rather affordable too compared to some of the overpriced stuff from LG, Sony etc.
I dropped it on a hard wood floor three times, nothing broke, no scratches, no gaps.

There also Chinese foot printed in the whole continental. The American people are bitching about cheap labor,so all the Chinese and other countries get the jobs. Now you ain't got shit.

Not surprising at all that the Chinese companies are making decent phones. Most of the big brand cell phones are manufactured in China already for the past decade. Now it's just those Chinese factories finally figured out that it is more profitable to put their own brands on the phones they're making.

Wow...those phones still keep up good specs, even from 2 and a half years ago up to now.
I had a Razr i, Moto G, Moto X and now i'm settled with a Nexus 5....however I would totally buy a chinese smartphone, because I personally attested the good build quality of those 3 most popular chinese brands and they all seem good. Redmi 2 was such a popular phone in Brazil, that it quickly ran out of stock, causing the prices to go up and up.
However...concerning technical support, there are still some problems if compared to the popular Korean brands that are well established in Brazil.
A brand that also looks nice and I've never seen around here is the "Meizu", worth checking.

+abdul razak Not exactly, One plus 2 was like ¥1999 RMB when it was introduced, which was comparable to the cheapest version of Xiaomi 5, and new one plus 3 is ¥2499 RMB, still much cheaper than Huawei p9 (from ¥3299) or Oppo R9(or oppo F1 in overseas) from ¥2799, so basically it is a medium price range phone among all Chinese local brands. But most Chinese people still prefer iPhone, as long as they can afford.

I buy most of my electronics directly from China or surrounding asian countries. Not only is it cheaper but I know how to get the good stuff. I have a saying that if you 'buy from China, for China' you can't go wrong. On the other hand if you 'buy from China, for America' for instance, you're taking a risk. They produce really good stuff but the quality control for exports is not very good.

Xiaomi is one of the biggest smartphone makers in the world, and they are a very good brand. I did notice that some of the phones are older and run older versions of Android.

On the labels I see WCDMA and I thought "WCDMA in China? That's weird! I thought they have TD-SCDMA" So I looked it up on wikipedia and found this:
    - China Mobile uses the Chinese TD-SCDMA standard for 3G
    - Unicom, China Telecom and others uses the International WCDMA standard for 3G
They both use for 2G the worldwide GSM standard.
Same goes for 4G. China Mobile uses TD-LTE where the others support either FDD-LTE or both. So I guess you can get 3G or 4G on China Mobile but you would need a phone that supports TD which will only have 2G when you go abroad since no other country has TD-SCDMA and few countries support TD-LTE.
The reason they use it? TD transmitters are cheaper to make and more efficient in massive user environments. Basicly all cheap wireless technologies (WiFi, bluetooth) are TD (Time Duplexing) where the counterpart FD (Frequency Duplexing) is only used by providers. Advantage of FD is that it is more reliable when you move at high speeds.

Well that's actually not too bad, although to be honest I would still prefer the Samsung quality even though it's mainly made in China, because it's regulated by a manufacturer from a different country. The Chinese phone is likely to break soon after buying.
