- In today's video I take you with me on a typical day when I'm out driving, this is what I get up to when I'm not in the workshop filming videos. It was a very busy week this. So I filmed one of the days.
I don't know how you juggle kids, 13 hour days with all that driving and then repairing salvage not to mention editing videos. Amazing work ethic, I wonder what you could achieve if you had the funding. Your missus must be very understanding too, mine gives me 2 hours in the garage on a weekend 😀
Nor do I! 😂... yes the Mrs is very understanding and helpful! 👌🏼
Always thank the staff backstage ;-)
This guy is a grafter. Deserves all the success.
The Delightful Security Guard at North Shields..... we have to put up with him every time 😆 🤣 😂 16yrs and he finally talks to me in there....... Nice to see u enjoyed it there...
“I hate doing things twice” a certain car comes to mind 😁
🤣
Humm I thought that
Another job that goes unappreciated, people think their cars appear by magic. Always made my car delivery drivers a brew, if they had time! Car Logistics is getting bigger and bigger after COVID, since everybody wants their car delivered. Hard work Dean, media superstar pays better 👍😎
Hi Dean. Enjoyed the change from the usual channel content. I could not be out of the house and on the road for that lengh of time.
You and people like you, are under Appreciated for what you all do. 👍👍 See you in the next one.
I have to say you’re doing a fantastic job guggling 12 hour days, kids, and all you’re projects. Keep up the great work! You deserve a lot more subs. But none the less love you’re content!
nice to see you up I'm our lovely city ....love the channel
Brilliant video of your day to day of being on the roads! Collect drop offs see lovely bits of nature wicked keep it up! Life of a trucker 👍
Wow long old days then, I hope it pays well. And looking after the family too as well as CZcams. If I was gone that long my Mrs would run out of text's!
That’s some graft right there. Can’t question your work ethic, you deserve the subs. 👍
Great video Dean, it's great to see the other side of your job, keep up the good work and stay safe 👍👍👍
Its Good to come along on a job & see what you do, well done m8, look forward to the next upload👍
Thank you for putting a video out for the bank holiday and hope you have a good one and hope you are staying safe and well
Big love mate, life is hard hard hard. Keep pushing
Hi dean congratulations on reaching 55,200 subscribers and well done all your hard work on the cars and the same for the videos as well
Credit to ya Dean I too have done 12 hour days for many many years and that’s 12 hours work not including getting up hour before travelling and then home gruelling physical work so like I say good on ya buddy 👍🏻😉
I feel your pain. This is my full time job too. Always cutting it fine to the final drop. Stay safe out there.
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you Dean.
That's a good set up you have there, clever how you can drive over the trailer to the van
Class video as usual bud
Also fair play thats some amount of work for the family. Should be proud matey
So much difference in you tubers .. keep pushing the likes and subscribers keep this guy going..
weirdly captivating video. I really enjoyed seeing your day. All very professional in your job. Nice one 🙂
busy man Dean thanks for the vlog and looking forward to the Boxster GTS that thumbnail Evo TME dreamcar
I used to take the piss out of dad when he was a taxi driver. He’d come home tired and I’d say but you’ve been sat in your arse all day. He say it’s mentally exhausting concentrating on traffic all day. I used to laugh until I tried it. Driving for a living is exhausting so big respect for cramming all the stuff in that you do.
Enjoyed the ride ~ thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Wish I knew you were up port of Tyne!! Literally within walking distance for me, would have been epic to meet you, love watching your videos👍🏻
Great vid, a hard days work there along with everything else👍🇮🇪
Great video, really enjoyed it, I was thinking of doing this type of work, it is something I would really enjoy 😉.
No money in it. Every man and his dog are doing it and the majority of them doing it are doing it illegally, running overweight, not complying with GB Domestic Drivers Hours etc.
Excellent work and thanks for sharing this with us take care and stay safe
I love your work man hopefully one day I can be like you
Keep it up, enjoy the videos and really appreciate all your efforts 👍🏼
I used to deliver driving school cars, worst part of the job when the trailer was on was meeting driving hours on the tacho and trying to offload in residential streets in London. People think you are joking when you say you need at least 50 feet long parking space.
Thanks Dean - love this type of video Sue 😀
up my neck of the woods in the north east, theres a few youtrube channels dedicated to driving , trucker jay in the uk bein one of my subs so theres viewer there definately. great to see your day to day , no 2 days are the same.
Trucker Jay is a knob who shouldn't be anywhere near a lorry. The vast majority of situations he gets in are ones he's deliberately created to get a CZcams video out of it. He had more accidents and mishaps in his first year of driving than most of us have in our entire careers, he certainly had more than I've had in the 26 years I've been doing it.
If you’re ever near BCA Leeds again and need a brew I’m literally 10 minutes from there 😊
Really cool seeing this side of the car trade, I’ve always been curious how it all works.
Used to drive the 3.5t then went upto the 7.5t tilt but gave it up was two many cowboys undercutting or folk wanting it cheaply. Good you’ve got a contract with dealers…I always assumed you done the hgv transporters 😅
He used to do containers with an artic
Glad to see you're using a tacho and doing it legally.
You need to be very careful if you do need them and you're not using a tacho especially on the motorways around Manchester as NW Motorway Police section are having a purge on car transporters like yours.
Great vid, really enjoyed that 👍
Good to see someone who knows about mgw’s and tacho’s on their transporter, soo many cowboys around
Keep up the Hustle... Major Respect!
Enjoyed watching this dean, found it interesting. Didn’t realise you would need a tacho, or digi card as it is these days. Long days on your own can be hard at times, the radio always seems very repetitive after a while. Being a agricultural contractor my average winter day is around 12 hours but this time of year it’s up from anywhere between 14- 20 hours a day with no days off. Takes its toll, even more now I’ve an 8 month old at home that’s changing and growing so fast.
20😣
what sort of money do you make per day roughly ? If you did it again would you buy the fiat or go for a 7.5t car transporter ?
I could sit and watch other people work all day 😂
I'm retired and that's pretty much exactly what i do.
That’s what all the people at the job centre do 😂😂
@@bradleyhayes812 free cash on the dole tho
Loving the click bait title! Editing skills are definitely getting a lot better, still watched the whole video. Can't wait for the next one!
Great insight into your work
Great jacket!
Hi Dean, I completely understand wht you are going through, you're always up against time as a driver but I know you know that as HGV driver yourself you've done enough driving hours to know the game bud, I messaged you a while ago to let you know I'd just had a stroke and my HGV was suspended don't know if you remember at all? But anyway got it back now and back on nights driving tankers out of Hull on ADR, have you ever considered buying an HGV transporter yourself to use on the job 🤔 thought it might give you more options for profit? Love the videos and keep em coming. 👌
Issue with hgv size vehicle is the Operator license. I may not be as difficult to pass but is difficult and expensive to keep compliant and stay within green band with dvsa! It may be just too much hassle for him hence the van and trailer operation..
Thank you Dean
Always makes me laugh when someone tells me how long it takes to get somewhere. I just say on the UK roads you might as well pluck a figure out of the air. Going from Ashford Kent to Worcester can take 3 hours or can take 5 hours another day.
Hi have you ever been stopped taken to a weigh bridge. I was an owner driver had a list of all the weigh bridges I went out of my way to avoid them. Good channel . Also if your over weight they won't let vehicle leave until l the excess weight has been removed worst nightmare?......
Yes I have once, and it was all good. M4 westbound
Evening buddy, what insurances do you need to tow cars using your own truck? I'm looking at getting a little truck and moving cars for garages but unsure what insurances I'd need other than liability. Cheers
Hey,
What car would you choose if you started towing with a trailer now?
I've got 2005 x5, early Q7, or the 3 liter 2 gen Tuareg in mind.
I'd appreciate if you would take a minute to think about it and answer.
😊
Love your channel ❤
Great video seeing what you do Dean. Do you charge them by mileage or do they give you a price for doing it ? 👍🏽😎
Got me with the Tommi mak and nsx 😂🤦♂️
I'm looking at setting up as a driver. I was looking at buying a beavertail transporter but wonder if this might be too restrictive and whether i should get a trailer too or just a pickup and trailer.
Cant be that far from me in peterborough. Proper work ethic mate enjoy your channel
No mate just down the road 👍🏽
great vid bud got a bit of audio overlapping from 4:05 - 6:05
Oh whoops! Sounded fine on watch back! Sorry 😣
Definitely lag 😉 from youtube!
How can you carry that much weight on 3.5 ton truck with 2 cars and ramps how do you get away with the payload and what license do you need ??thanks big fan of your videos
Always told to do at least 10 mins daily check before setting off (cross hammers) good job you havnt got a transport manager to answer to,doing only 5 mins ! Lol.i work 5 mins from bca leeds as a hgv delivery driver, bloody hate tachos, but love your channel
Yeah that would be advised on a 18T truck and above really.. I’ve only got a 3.5T van so there’s a lot less to check over. 5 mins is a long time checking over a van 🤣... thanks 🙏🏼
The first port you went to is the Nissan port.
That sounds like a long old day to me. Interesting to watch but I bet it gets a bit tedious for you particularly when the traffic is manic - although probably less on the road during lockdown!
Another great video massive respect to you. 👍🏻
Interesting job role
Not sure if you will see this but this goes to anyone who does this job..... Is there a lot of these jobs in 2023 and how would the work load be self employed Vs for a company. Reason I ask is I would like any driving job and picking up and delivering cars would be ideal for me. Great video and great insite as well cheers
Just rediscovered your channel after the first Octavia rebuild. I’m just curious as to how you managed to get into the car transport business & how you managed to acquire your truck/trailer setup? Here in Australia that same setup is about $100k +
great driver!!
Would like to see a video on how much you charge per delivery ect
Massive like and subscribed
Great videos. Keep it up. How much do you get paid?
You up in scotland often cause a look on bca alot for motors somthing there further away and price is decent but the guy a used to collect cars chucked it would meet him in glasgow or edingburgh to make it easyer around a week it took for delivery
What mileage do you do a day on average and in a year dean.
Good video that, something different.
Confessions of car delivery driver!!!
Brilliant, what sort of mpg do you get?
21/23mpg with a loaded trailer, 27/29mpg no trailer
Hi, couple of questions. To drive that setup with the trailer HGV ? And what’s it like to reverse. ATB Glen
You need Category E on your driving licence. You'll also need a tachograph fitting to the vehicle which you'll need to use when towing and to do a DCPC course. If you're not going to use a trailer you don't need to do any of that but as Dean pointed out, you're only going to be able to carry up to 1.4 tonne vehicles legally and even my MK4 Ford Focus is almost that. Most car transporters you see like his running up and down the motorways are overloaded.
@@conorturton Thanks for your time in answering my questions 👍
Did you manage to get back home under your 4 1/2 drive after your break ?
Blimey..I don't think you sleep Dean😮
How do you charge per car pick-up...milage, % of cost of car or flat rate per car🤔
£/mile with/without flat fee
Vlog videos like this will bring more views to your channel. Which intern will bring more revenue plus a regular up load for your subs keeping them interested.
Kindly advise whats needed to do such an operation. Tacho, operators licence, insurance and what else? do you knw any places one can lease a car transporter? thanks
Genuinely thought about doing this, especially with the world going click and deliver mad. I always find myself drifting on long journeys though, so how the hell do you stay alert for 12hrs a day??
My wife says the same, not sure really 😂
You said the id3 was too heavy for the truck but yet the t cross was ok.? I’d personally have thought that was heavier. I could watch your day in the life videos all day👍👍
The t-cross is only a beefy polo basically. 1.0 manual weighs 1250kgs.. ID3 is fully electric so weighs 1700kgs
Id3 are 1600kg, t-roc are around 1300-1595 if 4wd....batteries in EV's are heavy
This was a t-cross, smaller than a t-roc
@@SavingSalvage that just shows how much I know about electric cars!!!!👍
@@stephenevans1833 yeah they are heavy which is why it's very surprising how fast 0-62 some top end EV's are...Ford mustang E mach is 1995kg curb weight but 0-62 in 4.2 second
What regs do you drive under? Do you have to follow British domestic rules meaning because you drive for over 4 hours a day you can only work or 11 hours including driving.
cool, never realised 3.5 tonners need tachos though. are you speed limited to 56 or 62?
Only need a tacho if I’m towing a trailer 👍🏽... no speed restriction however the speed limit on a motorway and fuel carriageway is 60
Do you need a operating licence?
Didnt realise you needed a tacho for a van and trailer, always assumed it was anything above 7.5tn train weight.
Do you need a hgv license to drive your transporter? Is there a taco meter in your transporter ?
What speed are you allowed to go in the motorway toeing a trailer/not tiring a trailer?
Why do you drive a fiat transporter, instead of say any other brand ?
I thought you said a couple of months ago you had got a driver for the transporter, and you were concentrating on the videos.
Hi sir . I’ve just set a small business in Derbyshire recovering and delivering cars . Who do you use to keep busy as well as advertising and going to different dealerships I don’t know what else to do to get my name out .
Very surprised to see a heavy car on a trailer being pulled by an unloaded recovery truck. Brake hard and that has the potential to lift the rear axle of the truck.
Is insurance expensive for your transporter and trailer, and what type of insurance is it, thanks 👍🏼
about £3 k up to £7k for good cover
@@renorti1 Thanks mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Brill video mate
Awesome work Dean. how many miles do you do a week?
I don’t drive as much anymore. But used to do around 2000 a week.
what rates dealers paying? I tried Movex ,and the dealer rates they pass on were rubbish about £1 to £1.20 a mile perhaps better to sub direct for dealer.
Do you get home then still have to put the bins out because the wife says “ that’s not her job”
I feel your pain.
Of course he does, what, you think women appreciate what their men do all day or something?
@@toddlerj102horrible arnt they
How much total weight would that combination go for? In sweden you aren't allowed to exceed 3.5 tons on a standard license, upgraded ones go for around 4 tons
I would love a job like that better than doing 120/150 stops a day with Dpd Leeds
Just gotta graft till then lad, anything’s possible with some hard work.
@@piovo5222 I’m going to start looking out fir something 👍🏻
I know how you feel, I used to work in dpd galway in Ireland, thank god I'm gone back to driving trucks much easier 👍👍
@@eamonkelly2792 I was going to do my hgv @dpd but my manager didn’t want to lose me as a driver and he actually said that piss take
You should do it anyway and when you get it there is a lot more jobs out there 👍👍
Do.you still have the same driving times on the van's tacho as a lorry?
Fair play to you, long days in the cab. Many of the US you tubers never put or say what they do as a day job. but kfc is hiring lol
I guess you have an o licence as you said it's over 3.5t van plated weight, what is your gross carrying capacity assuming you go over the 3.5t with the trailer
Yes I do, my fiat can go upto 6T and Iveco 7T
Interesting video, always curious how people spend their working day.
I thought the tcross would be new if it had come into the port, mileage looked like 124k when you drove it off the truck unless I'm mistaken?
