  • Scarring is a very common concern amongst our clients. We have those that are concerned with minor ice pick scars, those with deeper boxcar scars, stretch marks and even surgical scars. We also have those that are a bit confused, thinking that a post inflammatory mark after a pimple is a scar.

    Today, I am going to clarify what a scar is and talk about how to treat each one so that you are able to finally make some improvements in your skin.
    First of all, what IS a scar?
    A scar is an area on your body where an injury has occurred. The skin will have an abnormal formation of connective tissues which are initially thick or pink - but with time will fade to white.
    These areas can be raised (such as a hypertrophic or keloid scar).
    A hypertrophic scar is raised, but remains on the exact site of the injury.
    A keloid is also raised, but it will extend past the area of injury. Those that are prone to keloids need to aggressively watch the types of products they use on their skin.
    A scar can also be flat or even become an atrophic scar (or, a depression in the skin) - as in an acne ice-pick scar or a pock mark.
    An atrophic scar has damaged collagen tissues.
    What generally happens is that the inflammation from a large pimple (or even a chicken pock) in the skin destroys the collagen. After it is damaged and the pimple is healed, the top layer of skin ends up adhering to the deeper skin tissues. This, then becomes a depression in the skin’s texture that is usually in the shape of a “V”.
    The box car scar is a combination of several Ice-pick scars that are very close together and form a larger depression.
    Then we have our last type of “scar” which is really just Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation. This is the one that many people will mistake as a scar, when it is really just a temporary darkening of the skin due to inflammation. This usually occurs after a pimple has healed.

    I use EVERY thing she showed for the body and my deep stretch marks are improving everyday, I posted about it in the psc group too😊 it may seem like a lot of different products but the serum 30 and Derma Fixx are only used on problem areas. Can't wait to see my skin improve more nd more. And real quick I noticed the pump on the Derma Fixx is different in the video than my pump lol I have what looks like the triple treat pump and it doesn't reach the bottom of the bottle, I've been have to shake out the lotion recently lol I. John Newmark everyone has their favorites. Use the glycolic if it suits you. It isn’t nearly as strong as Tca though and won’t have too much effect - if any - on a true scar. It is more of a surface acid.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  Před 5 lety +3

      We are SO glad to hear that you have gotten rid of your acne! What an achievement. The big 3 for that are AB Cleanser + Vitamin B Complex + adding on the Retinol .20% at night.
      The retinol should really help to minimize those PIH marks, but you can do more with a chemical peel if you wish. If you have never done a peel, the Mandelic 40% is a great place to start here: www.platinumskincare.com/mandelic-peel-22-40/
      Another great peel is the Salicylic 15% that I mentioned in the video: www.platinumskincare.com/salicylic-peel-3-15-25/
      Either will really speed up the rate of the tissue regeneration and turnover. Keep using Retinol every evening ... and if you ever do get a pimple it will heal very quickly and the mark will go away in less than 2 weeks.

    Can few treatments of tca help flatten slightly raised white scar? I have few of them, they are very small scars from mole removal. I know you said hypertrophic scars are not for tca but those scars arent that. They are not thick, they are just slightly raised( like not even a milimetar from skin surface)

    • @PlatinumSkinCare

    While these videos are super informative, rarely do you ever speak of the amount of time you should avoid sun exposure before a treatment? The chest area is a highly visible abused area by most of us boaters/sun bathers. What’s the best solution for a peal of the chest?

    How much time should you stay out of the sun before you do a peal? How much after?

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  Před 4 lety +1

      Donna Forrest hello. We recommend to always refrain from direct sun exposure. It is the sun that causes the damages and pigmentation that arise. A good spf of 40-50 every single day is best. I always apply face, neck and chest every day. If you are an avid tanner, it would be best to have at least a few weeks of coverage before you peel. We want the skin to be it’s natural color when we do peels. If you have excess melanin in there (tan), then you can run into blotchy, uneven results.

    What is the process of getting rid of your cystic acne scars?
    I have them all over my neck and face. Large white scars.
    I've never used a tca peel before. The research I've been doing I've come up with 13% tca combined with the 30% to put in my ice pick scars
    Is that ok for fair skinned first time user?

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  Před 4 lety

      Yes, the CROSS method is using a small wooden pick and applying the 30 tca INside the scar. The rest of the face will be treated with a milder TCA, such as the 13%. Hello. This really depends on your skin's coloring. Milder acids and percentages for darker skin tones. I would suggest TCA 13 or 20 for a Fitzpatrick 4/5 No stronger for the scars. I also suggest Super Cop 2x for the scars. It can be applied daily to help regenerate scars. See here: www.platinumskincare.com/scar-treatment/

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  Před 4 lety

      Yes, all TCA peels will be helpful because they break down damaged tissues and stimulate the creation of new, "normal" tissues. I would start doing a series of full facial peels. Begin with the TCA 13% at 1-2 layers on your entire face. **Then, if you want to add an extra layer of treatment to your depressed scars, go ahead and use a Q-tip and add another layer there. I also suggest using Dr. Pickart's SuperCop 2x every evening on your scars for more tissue remodeling. www.platinumskincare.com/copper-super-cop-2x/ www.platinumskincare.com/tca-peel-13-20-30/

      @@2willyboy If you are using OUR retinol, it is deeply penetrating and should go on top. IF it isn't ours... then don't worry.
      If your skin is still irritated, then give it a couple days of just using healing oils/ointments. Then, when it feels good start up with the coppers. After a week you can use the retinol.

      This is a great video for someone looking for starting ideas. czcams.com/video/izplqbC-0hA/video.html You don't mention what you are trying to cover up? Acne, Scars, just those freckles? With pigmentation I would suggest Fade Bright 2x per day, Retinol .20% Molecular Serum evenings and a TCA 13% peel at 1-3 layers. This will also work well for acne or anything else really. Fade Bright is a pretreatment for medium toned skin prior to any peels, and it is also excellent for markings of any type.
