Niko Schirmer swore he would never get on this boat again, but his new movie is all about Sofie (that’s the ship’s nickname) and a sailing voyage to Svalbard. Get on board and discover what happened in a trip full of adventure, wild animals, human interactions, and gnarly couloirs.

I feel like this film was about Celeste more than about anything else :) She is an awesome and a badass skier, and she totally deserves the credit! And I also think Nikolai did a great job mentoring her into this line of work that he is doing. Hope to see more of her skiing in years to come!
No offense but I feel like she's blinded by getting clips and putting everyone else in danger. So eager to get shots, that she sacrificed safety and good decisions. Not to mention she fell on an exposed couloir with rocks everywhere and days away from the closest help. These types of people put everyone in danger.
with that being said I think she's a good skier but maybe she needs to think more about the consequences of an accident happening, and not acting like they are at a ski resort.
@@stephenclark15 all true. It only shows how little real experience she has. Nikolai spoke a lot of his own mistakes himself, and she will learn too ;)
@@stephenclark15 Im not quite sure what you mean by this. They all put them self in danger. That's the kick of it. Even Nikolai sais it, that he knows he can die. With that thinking it was nikolai that put her in danger. I might miss your point tho, but as a snowboarder i love the kicks. I want to enjoy life. Die you can do to whatever. Me and my dad was skiing and boarding all kind of thinks. My mom lived healthy and carefully. She still died early due to disease. I dont see how them teaching celeste makes her put them in more danger then they allready signed up for.

Ha, When I watched it and go that part she made me smile so hard. Definitely saw the eyes of someone who is crushing hard.
The fact that she went back to do it again is so powerful. And the support that everyone has for each other is honestly so powerful.

This was amazing to watch. Nikolai's personality shines through as usual with the epic skiing and sceneries. Love the great editing with Nikolai's thoughts of the journey a perfect complement to it all. The beautiful music really hits the emotions of the moment.

I saw it at EOFT and immediately was like: there is so much missing - you guys story telling usually is so much better!

Svalbard is very high on the list for me since a long time, but haven't managed to go there yet. But definitely need to do that as soon as the budget allows...

Yeah i thought CZcams was automatically downgrading my res to 360p or something... definitely needs a re-upload. Great story and the visuals would be incredible without distracting blockiness
Yeah, doesnt look like a CZcams issue, as most parts of the video are fine and raising the resolution (which also raises the Bitrate) does not help. Probably an error during the encoding.

Remember the old days when as a snowboarder I felt obliged to hate on skiers when we’re all just on the same team. Anyone feeling any sense of hate, just watch Nikolai enjoy his passion. Maybe time to find a crew here in Norway to find some good lines with.
You all should come to Canada's west coast to explore some seriously epic terrain. Hotsprings, big lines, and so much more.
Maybe a little love story starting here? ;-)

Just want to say I watch a LOT of ski films (as many as my heart can take); but this one, especially, was just SO REAL and true to life! Not just run after mind-boggling run, but all the other goofy, slightly disorganized stuff that goes with a real adventure like that. This is the way my friends and I would be. So I didn't feel like just a freaked-out observer but actually like I was there too. F**kin'-A!

Nicolai and team, great to meet you in Ny Alesund last summer and teach you some old sea shanties. I think I heard you sing "bound for South Australia at you reached the top the final couloir! Glad to see you got up the mountain after we left as Sophie was super quiet when we sailed off to find the bears! The snow was great, even if it was a bit of an expedition to find it! Loving the videos - keep them coming.

Great movie, exceptional places...I've never been to Svalbard while I had a chance for some sail and ski around Lyngen...and yes this is it. This year we also plan to visit Tromso - there is something in the Arctic - it is addictive. Regards from Poland!

The classic Svalbard rocks;) Even when the wind has not blown the snow away yet they leave some souvenirs on your skis. But the views, ptarmigans and reindeer on Svalbard are the best :DD
