  • How much did it cost for dental work in Ajijic Mexico. New dental crowns, whitening, and a root canal. Stories about retired life at our project home in the mountains of central Mexico, our USA travels in our 40' Monaco motor home, or whatever else is on my mind today.

    I went to a dental school in Yucatan. 4 root canals, 4 extractions, x-rays, 4 crowns, and upper and lower partials for a grand total of $ 600 USD. Took approximately 8 months!! Saludos.

    @crystalmckee3606 Před 5 lety +14

    I was just quoted $3000 for a root canal and crown. As it turns out by the time I made a decision my tooth died and I ended up having it pulled for 350 instead. I'm so mad now. Americans are being screwed over by the dental and medical field. I want to move to Mexico now.

    Your teeth look amazing. I had a root canal in April by a dentist in Florida. He broke through the root and laid the filler on my jaw. Cost me $2,500. 4 months of pain and multiple excuses and multiple dentists later, I still had the infection, it destroyed the original tooth and the tooth behind it. Had to have both extracted. Now I have to have 2 implants! US dentists are ridiculous!

    • @JCTravelStories
      @JCTravelStories  Před 6 lety

      +Hula Shack ...OUCH!!! I asked about implants here. 8900 pesos for the implant ... then 4500 pesos for the tooth. About $750 total per tooth.

    • @HulaShack1
      @HulaShack1 Před 6 lety +5

      My implants are 5K per tooth. (with the crown) I wish I was living in Mexico now! Thank you for your videos.. I am learning so much! I have a friend who just had their teeth redone here in Florida. He spent $65,000 on dental work. I thought he had to have had full dentures with 8-10 implants to hold them in place....nope....he only had one missing tooth so only 1 implant. The rest was just crowns. Can you imagine? He would have been better off flying to Mexico and having the work down down there and could have stayed in a 5 star resort for a month and still would have been cheaper.

    We have used Cancun Dental by Ocean Dental. The price for 2 round trip tickets, Nyx hotel with breakfast buffet, right on the ocean and all 4 implants ant 1 root canal was still much LESS than HALF the price we were quoted in Houston! Cancun dental is absolutely awesome and better equipment than the dentist uses in Houston too. Not to mention beautiful City, attractions, and was pampered like "Rock stars"! Cancun Dental is 1 800 278 3215. Dr. Irma speaks 3 languages, trained in the United States and her team of doctors are Highly trained and people come from all around the world to see her and perfection work.

    Dental work in Mexico is AWESOME!! Last month we went to Puerta Vallarta and got dental work done (3 crowns, a bridge, 2 cleanings) a couple of free extras for $1250 USD. In the US I was given an estimate for this at somewhere around $5000. So we decided Mexico at Dentalestetic in PV (Dr, Melisa and her team are FANTASTIC). The service was phenomenal, even picked us up and took us back from our airbnb. Fit in 3 appts. in a week. Long story short we are going to PV again in October and are still saving money with the entire cost of the trips! Keep spreading the good news JC travel, there are better ways then to succumb to US healthcare gouging. Elmer and Melissa (soon to be 50 yr old expats)

    I have a friend living/retired in Hawaii. She needed hip surgery, in US hospital approx her copay would be $48,000. She flew to India & surgery, 5 days in hospital care, 10 days convalescing in a private care center was $4000. total.
    I have VA/Tricare insurance & it sux. The copays on dental are more than my whole retirement benefits so I just dont go.
    Big pharm & medical are slowly killing us retired people.
    I too have major spinal issues. I was given a tens-unit but cant use it becuz I have afib & “””” have metal staples “”””dropped into my upper abdomen when I had my gall bladder removed by a military surgeon. The staples are just millimeters from my heart & the tens-unit will heat them up.....
    End of my bitch session

    Better equipment than my dentist in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Just a few here have that high tech scanning camera. One single crown just cost $1900cdn. Insurance only paid $800cdn. I have plans to drive my truck and 5th wheel to San Miguel. Perhaps PV and then across to Ajijic could be the better choice.

    Mexico has great dentists. My husband has been to Mexico, across the border there near El Paso, but it was a nice little Taxi cab ride across the border. They took him right to the dental office. After it was over they drove him right back across the border and they did a great job on his teeth and it was for a fraction of the cost here in Texas. If I ever have problems with my teeth, I think I'll take a cruise across the border myself. :) Thanks again for the great video :) Looks like they did a great job on your teeth too!

      CNC - computerized numerical control unit. It takes the data from the computer aided design unit they used to scan your mouth and transferred that data to the CNC which used little drill bits (cooled with water) to shape a chunk of ceramic suspended in the CNC machine. Easy peasy.

    Awesome video. Feb 2020. Wife needs 9 fillings (that includes 4 old ones that need to be redone), cleaning, night guard, and whitening. USA dental insurance will only "cover" 5 fillings because the ones that need redone "are not necessary right now" plus they will not cover the night guard....USA Dentist with insurance out of pocket cost for 5 fillings and rest: $2,500 USD.........went to Baja Dent in Ensenada Mexico.....including EVERYTHING (all 9 fillings)....$700 USD.....that leaves me $1,800 in savings to spend in seafood, wine, and beer....Cheers!

    You know a good crown job here in the U. S. is around $700 to well over a thousand dollars. I have heard a Mexican crown job is only about $8 to $16. WHAT???? ... So that’s one of the reasons most people are “ sneaking” over the border. You can live like a king over there on very little. The trick is to save up as much as you can here in the US and take it to Mexico and live in lifelong luxury. Sounds like a good place to retire. I’m going to Mexico!

    • @JCTravelStories
      @JCTravelStories  Před 5 lety +7

      Crowns here are not that cheap. Around $200. Also, nobody has to "sneak over the border" going south into Mexico. Its a very welcoming country for all.

      JC Travel Stories .....Check out “Tangerine Travels” Where they compare dentist prices in Mexico. I think it was 100 pesos for major dental work . ....What I meant by “sneaking over” is if your legal ( not running away) you don’t have anything to worry about and of course you can enjoy the wonderful people and scenery. of Mexico. and what’s more is a US dollar will buy about 17 pesos , so you can live very , very well. Mexico is a great place to visit, live and even retire❤️👍🏻 Enjoy your stay!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

They seem to be pretty up-to-date on dentistry. And the price is right! Lol Thank you. Enjoy your videos. Very nice family inclusion too. God bless.

      Eric Cowan ... I've been to a few different dentists around town. I chose this one because its got state of the art equipment, and its close to my house. Also, on the staff are several different experts so its a one stop shop for every procedure you might need. And they are young dentists. They know new stuff that dentists who went to school 10 years ago would be having to catch up on.
