- Working 5 speed manual transmission modeled after a W56 Toyota transmission. Goes with my other 3D printed 22RE engine.
Over 48 hours print time. Printed on a Kossel mini.
The output flange is just to show the rotational output speed.
You can find all the files to print your own on thingiverse.com

This shouldn't be judged as an instructional video. It should be judged as a video of an actual instructional object you can print and assemble at home. I think this is a great example of different use of 3D printing.
Granny shifting, not double clutching like you should.
This was not what I expected as the first comment. I burst into laughter. Ty for making my night and you’re absolutely correct 😂
The work that you did to make this manual 5 speed transmission is just simply amazing. So very impressed in your CAD abilities and patients it must have taken to make this work. Congrats on this Project and I look forward to seeing and printing more of your work. Thanks again Sir, and keep on chugging
hey, they said you wouldnt download a car! :)
That's hillarious... this comment made me smile
HAHAHHA GOLDEN
Amazing, it even has a reverse gear, great job!
i know im not the only one that was going "vroooOOOmmmm...vrrrroooOOOMMmm...brrrroooooooOOOM...ooom ooom ooom, vrrrrooooooom" while watching this
Holy fucking shit! This is such a great introduction into how a transmission actually work. I've always understood the basics of it, but never managed to piece it completely together visually. Now I clearly can. Thx for this one!
you have done an amazing job here
AWESOME!! So cool to see how it works!
Next up, a transfer case for 4x4.
omfg! i love it! great work, congratulations!!!!
Really awesome!
You just earned a devoted subscriber! Wanna see more of this!
great work!
Nice work !!!
You should make a complete car :)
they did... no joke !!! but only the chassis
Stance-Gaming Thats not a complete car then
It's an amazing piece of work, but both the engine and transmission are not needed in a modern car. Which means an electric car. The only mechanical advanced thing you need to print is all the steering stuff. The rest is just a platform with seats and some wheels.
Very impressive. The hobby shops have model motors like this but not transmissions.
This is awesome!
That is so bloody cool!
magnifico trabajo ....excelente material practico
Awesome. you just need a badass shift knob showing each gear.
Dude this is way too damn COOL!!
Amazing!
amazing!
love it!
If you aren't already you should try to make the front and rear axle because you are good at this
Can you make a matching transfercase? Maybe next is to 3D print Yota body unless you already did. Good job
Thanks for your job!!!, I´m using it in the school for teaching purposes about gearboxes!!, the world needs more people like you 3d Printed Engines!!, many thanks for all.
Good bro
Cool!
true and straight
cool!
yeah cos that helped me understand loads.......
Hella cool.
Nice
I just finished assembly of this last night but can't see how to make the shift rods not wander into multiple gears at the same time and lock up. Is there a way to make the shifter (and forks) default to the neutral position between 3 & 4 like the actual transmission does?
you should make a 3d printed clutch, for it
Hi, great tutorials, can you please share how do you attach it to the motor ?
genial, me encantaria tener una de esas
did anyone use support for the parts like the bell housing? thx
Te felicitó por tu trabajo de que vehículo es estaría bueno que aguas uno de camiones por ejemplo del escaña
Can you make a model of 4A-GELU engine that used by Fujiwara Takumi in Initial-D?
Please make a full creating of the video sorry my english is bad
I WANNA MAKE ONE!! with a 6 speed
I can make you one with 7
@@zigastrmsek2 I would love to see a 7 speed. Just imagine how much more complex that a 7 speed would be compared to the outstanding work on the 5 speed. I can't even imagine the work that it would take to make a 7 speed!!
Hi I'm just wondering how much would you charge for a printed kit would make a great learning tool for my classes many thanks will
No clutch ?
Where do I get the metal rods for it?
O motor está a venda??
Wow!!!!
Will you donate your project to a high school? I think it would be cool if schools could have access to functional models like this to try encourage and influence students.
It's available on Thingiverse with a non-commercial license, if you don't have a printer at your school perhaps somebody nearby would be willing to donate time to print this for you? www.thingiverse.com/thing:713815
it haves an clutch sistem?
WOW. It takes a special kind of engineer to not only model the files for such a device, but then tweek it so it will work in the 3D print universe, which has different laws of physics. Incredible!
granny shifting not double clutching like you should :D
i know its old but does this require supports
Where can I buy for teaching??
Are you printing out a whole truck and building it?
muy interesante .....
Oooooh!
hwoa!
Clutch??
what Material did you print it in?
where can I buy one? =)
grande coisa
Where's the clutch, man?
Canto vale la caja de canbios
Hello, which 3D did you used?
what ever nxt ?
and the clutch!?
*Will this fit my Honda?*
mcm :)
ATCRyderX© MCM fans everywhere!
Kishvier What the hell is MCM? I'm both your Man Crush Mondays on Wednesday?! O-O

kim hansnen ah. That should've been my next guess. Thnks.
lol i have the same soldering station and power supply
Can one get the files to print this?
Carl VanHoose
You can find all the files to print this, the engine, and transfercase on Thingiverse.com
Did you just have any problem whit your car, haven't you?
Eric Harrell Thanks Eric!

I'm done.
ok, be quiet and take my monetary paper
so from watching your videos so far, you appear to be making a scale toyota 4x4 PowerWheels...
Have you done any testing on how much torque it can take. I'm thinking about trying to make a gearbox for a motorized bike, thinking this might be a good starting point.
Scale to size try to print with 100% infill and buy laser cut replacements as they break. You’ll probably end up with a a fully metal transmission but it’d be cool to see how long a plastic case could hold up.
it would be cool someone build a working motorcycle just from a 3d printer
I need to be doing more with my spare time.
Will this be able to operate at high temps when the car is really putting in work?
At least it would be easy to just print new parts haha
where are the synchros ? lul
add a 100 shot
Which part of this transmission is the synchro's ?
I've been wondering how you modeled all this. What program? How difficult is it to model the helical gears like this?
And how did you measure the dimensions of the transmission and engine?
I've been wanting to do something similar modeled after my cars engine and transmission, but the number of small features and curves make it feel like an impossible task.
Do you just get the general shape down and fake the curves so it looks fairly similar?
DarkCupid there some softwares for mecanics wich is called solideworks
with it you can create motors, gearboxs, differantials and everything :p
DarkCupid
Everything was done in solidworks with calipers and other hand measuring tools. Some of the curves are best guesses but most are just 3 point curves which are pretty accurate for measuring with calipers.
Helical gears are easy. You just design one and then just change the perimeters of the gears
I also download this file, but please what are the length units centimeteres or inches??
You need a 3d printed car to put this in
now 3d print an automatic
ok
transmission is easy
Did you really print this on that sub $200 printer? (www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_624057.html?wid=21) Is it a good one? Only a few bugs? or Is the Tevo Tornado easier to use? I don't think I'm paying $700 for the latest Prusa MK3.
I can't download files 😭
Ca you please replace the link in the description
That is not working
Syncro shifting no good XD
I think the best printer to come is rhw x3dmachine Genesis 3d printer . Check for yourself , it's gonna be 299 for dual extruder!
Kids toy lolz..
Honestly, the whole thing looks under powered. You'll never be able to use that in a car, DUH!
