awesome video. I'm 53 years old and those trucks shaped my life. Growing up watching those trucks on TV influenced me to drive trucks. I started out in 1983 and still out here plugging away. It's been a hard life being away from everyone and everything I love, but I'd never do it different. . thanks so much for the memories. Glad to see that iron surviving.

Having five of the most iconic trucks of the 70's all together in one truck show is no easy feat. There was a lot of time and hard work that had went into achieving this nearly impossible task. If anyone else want to call upon any other iconic truck they can put forth their own efforts to do so. I think that by you having these five iconic trucks in one location was awesome enough as it is! Great job!

I was there, I met Robb, Brad and many awesome people at the show. I enjoyed every minute of it. Brad did an outstanding job putting together such an amazing trucking event! I traveled from Chicago to attend this show. It was definitely worth the trip!. I hope they do this again when the pandemic finally subsides.
These trucker shows are what influenced me to be a trucker! Watched every last one of them! It's amazing, how television can shape one's life!

I lived in Lincolnton for a while and then moved to Morganton so its funny to see them on the screen. I do not miss the humidity but I do miss the mountains and some beautiful women. Yes I watched all the shows growing up. Thanks

As a kid growing up in the 70s. These movies shaped my life. Steel Cowboy was the first one I remember. I started driving trucks in 1980. 5 million miles & still trucking. I’m just living a dream. I’ve been blessed.
Fantastic! I loved these shows as a kid growing up in Australia and built model kits for fun. The Rubber Duck and Movin' On kits were on my shelf and a mate had the BJ and The Bear kit. It would've have been just awesome to see these iconic rigs altogether in one place.

I was absolutely floored when I saw the Movin' on truck, because I had completely forgotten about that series but after remembering it, realizing it was (for me) the show that started the whole truck craze. Add to that, my old man was a long haul trucker at that time and you get the picture.
Cudos to those people that took the time and many $$$ to time to find and restore these childhood TV icons.

It's a real truck they run flatbed out of Wisconsin. I met one of their guys one day. So cool. I said this looks like the moving on truck from the show. He said all our trucks look like this. Cooler yet. That was a good day.

Rob, thanks so much for this video. We are about the same age and share the same passion for trucks. My dad was an Owner/Operator and in 1973 he bought a brand new Kenworth K100 flattop with the 110" bunk. It had a 425 Cat with a 15 speed. It cost him 32k. More than our house. Going OTR with him in that truck are my most treasured memories. It's nice to see you waving the flag and keeping the spirit...even after American Trucker. Keep it between the ditches big buddy...

I saved my allowance for weeks to buy the Movin' On model. And then again for the BJ and the Bear rig model. and I still have both 44 years later. I was such a BJ and the Bear fan, that my best friend started calling me "BJ" in the 7th grade, It's been my legal first name since I was 18.
I would have loved to have been there in the presence of all that classic iron. I remember as a kid watching all those shows. RIP Bandit.

I grew up watching these shows and movies myself . I am a trucker and have been since late seventies .Just last week while in a truck stop on the state line of North and South Carolina much to my surprise a iconic truck pulls in and its the first Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth . Made my day so cool ! It has been restored with such great detail I was impressed. The guy even used the old style pain in the --- Budd wheels in the restoration. Truckers today have know idea what trucking was like just back in my early days let alone how difficult it was20 yrs. or more before my starting days . I grew up around some very wealthy families and we traveled a lot. I had never seen anyone so respectful to the truckers as my dad and my friends dad. They feed you, clothe you, bring you shelter and medicine so you better give them the right of way. When a truck passes you make sure when it is clear to flash your lights and keep the lane open until he can get over. If you pass him at night give a very fast flash of your high beams so as not to blind him but let him know your coming around. If his load is off center or blows a tire, use the CB and let him know. Do people still do that I wonder? I do and thank you for what you do.
I used to watch Moving On in South Africa in the early 80's. Thats why I am a truck driver today. Driven in Africa,New Zealand and Australia...next stop Canada and USA.

Wow that's fantastic! Watching BJ and the Bear in the 70s made me fall in love with trucks especially BJ's. I love to see a show come to Colorado some day where I could see all those beauties up close.

Movin' On was the best show ever and it was really cool that they had the 1970 Valiant that Dennis Weaver drove in Duel.

Steven Spielberg does say on the documentary on the special edition dvd that there was occasions where Dennis Weaver did the driving as he was in the back seat filming over Dennis' shoulder. Most of the stunt driving in the car was done by Dale Van Sickel and the truck was driven by the legendary Carey Loftin. It's one of the best films ever made. Steven also goes on to say that after completing the film, he had to go back and shoot additional scenes as it wasn't long enough for the British format (ours is 90mins as opposed to the American 70 but there we go), so that is why the scene of the truck trying to push the car into the train is there
my dad was a truck driver and my uncle owned a trucking business I grew up loving big rigs /I bought the large matchbox superkings and watched all those iconic rigs on the big screen and tv,,,i always wonderedwhat happened to them …//im glad someone saved them and restored them //they are just as important as movie cars ,,thanks for being custodians of them ...great video ...thankyou for sharing /////

Hey Robb. I to grew up watching these shows and lovin the rigs they used. I also remember you on a TV show all about trucks. In one episode you were featuring the BJ & the bear truck. You got so excited to have found the trailer and tracked down a correct refer unit. Miss that show and your genuine enthusiasm for trucks. Being a former trucker, I was bitten by the bug young, and fulfilled that boyhood dream. Unfortunately the trucking industry is not independent trucker friendly due to over regulation. Keep the videos comin. Great job brother. Keep the bugs off your bumber and the bears off yer tail. We gone.
I also grew up loving these trucks...later I became a 15 year veteran trucker..what pains me the most is over the few years our trucking industry has become a CZcams Joke ..with crash videos ..swift-JB Hunt- Werner..ETC. and also thanks to these Three Week Driving schools . Its Really Great that channels like this Still Remember What it was like to be a Real Truck Driver!!! You're totally right. I couldn't agree more. I am not a veteran driver like you, but really looked up to guys like you as a kid, and still do. I always wanted to drive truck, but my career path took me another direction. It wasn't until I got thyroid cancer that I decided to follow my dream and drive. I went to a good truck driving school that had night classes for 2 months and I worked during the day. It wasn't one of those crap schools, like CR England, where my trainer got his education, and it showed. It is sad that trucking has become what it is now with this you tube crap. I hate the disrespect that driver's show each other...no one stops and helps out a fellow driver anymore. 4-wheelers are truly disrespectful and have no idea how to even drive around a truck. I still think of truck drivers as heroes. If you have it, a truck brought it. People need to show more appreciation toward and respect to drivers.

I'm with you there. When I was a kid I almost never had the chance to watch "Movin' On," because my grandmother would strictly enforce bedtime on school nights, plus she had her own preference for TV. The more she enforced her will, the more I wanted to see the series and get a model of the Kenworth. Now, I have both the series AND the Kenworth model (well, two models, actually), all acquired just within this past decade.

Can't get enough of that big red K Whopper COE. BJ Bear truck is all time classic truck. 35 + years since the show still awesome design.
That is one of the five original one made for the show. I have pictures of me sitting in that truck a few years back, great people they also own the movin on truck yoh see there.

In the 80’s I was working in a garage at a truck stop off I-80 and replaced the water pump on one of the BJ trucks
As a kid i had heaps of truck posters on my wall,all american was my fav,and im an aussie,my old man cringed at the thought that i might grow up to be a trucker,but i became a sparky,a stroke of luck i did my apprenticeship at a sign company installing shell and bp signs around nsw Australia, had the best of both worlds,maybe not a kenworth,but i drove a split shift izuzu,with a unic crane for lifting,some of the best years of my life,and the best part was,the boss paid for the lot

In addition to showing off the trucks you always made a point to show some respect for the truck driver. I really appreciated that. My Father was a dedicated professional truck driver. Covered over 2 million miles during his career. I always looked up to him for working so hard to deliver goods that we all so desperately rely on. Thank you for giving them some time in the spotlight.

So cool to see this I was 17 years old and was a fuel jockey at TA in maybrook NY and got to park the moving on kenworth in 1977 been hooked on driving the rest of my life!

As a kid in the UK I watched a show before all these it was from the US called Canonball That's what got me into trucking just retired last year after 42 years in UK and Europe . Safe driving to all you truckers Bob UK

I can relate to the author's obsession; when I was a kid I shared his fascination with trucks, and I have to say that the Pruitt rig was my ultimate dream. It was not until about 9 or 10 years ago that I finally got my mitts on an AMT kit, finally fulfilling a dream I had as a 9-year-old child...or so I thought. When I got my mitts on the series only about three or so years ago, I learned that the kit and all the toys based on the kit were not accurate to the series. So, last year I started to do something about that. I discovered a 1/25-scale model of a Kenworth W900, a kit that was a good 95% accurate to the series truck, made by Revell's European branch, so I got one. I later found a seller in Australia who reproduced the decals for the series truck in the same scale and got a copy of those decals from him. Along with a few spare parts I was able to find elsewhere, I was able to bring this model to a 98%-accurate series replica; now I have two "Movin' On" Pruitt rigs: The AMT version, and a more-series-accurate version, complete with interchangeable trailers (one a 40-foot dry-goods trailer, which was appropriate for the '70s, and a 53-foot reefer trailer which is common for today).
I remember "Duel" when it first aired, believe it or not, and I always had a love for that movie. I also had an urge to build a model of the notorious "Duel" truck, but there was a bit of a problem there: Nobody ever made a 1/25-scale model of a Peterbilt 281, let alone the low-slung tanker trailer. Some folks have skills and equipment to make resin reproductions, but I'm not one of them; so I had to make do with what I could find, and I think I got a good alternative. The closest-resembling model truck was an Autocar A64B, made by AMT about 1970 or so. This truck does bear much more than a passing resemblance to the Peterbilt 281; much of its configuration is identical, from the narrow nose and freestanding single-pair headlights to the smokestack on the right-hand side. The nearest I could get to the tanker trailer was a Testor kit, which isn't 100% accurate but was pretty close. Altogether I think it turned out quite well.
I thought the AMT kit was just the company's way of cashing in on the series, till I finally saw In Tandem. I don't know if it's totally accurate, but it's close to the movie version. BTW, I took 2 of the kits to make Sonny's VIT.

enjoyed this clip on the old trucks and tv & movies. In my 50's now and it brings back alot of memories. my dad was truck driver.He drove interstate 95 east cost. He pulled flatbed trailer's with load of steel. I was kid back then and would ride with him on summer breaks from school. It was the best times. I was nuts over trucks back then, watched all the shows and movie's. Did those truck models also. Its a time gone by. When i got my truck lic. i started to work in same job for 10 years as my dad. As time went on i moved onto other things. But my passion for trucks is still strong. It was a great time growing up. thx for the memories rob, did enjoy it---john

Thanks for bringing back all those great memories. I'm 53 now and watched and loved em all. I also built the Movin On truck model in 76 or 77. All those trucks are iconic representatives of a great era in America.
I used to sit in front of the TV and wait for Movin On and BJ and the Bear and how many times I have watched Smokey and the Bandit. Claude Aikens as Sonny Pruitt and then went on to become the sherriff in BJ and the Bear.

Maybe the Blue Mule wasn't available for the show. When I was in high school, the trucker down the street from me bought it and used to for actual trucking.
I operate a small farm in Iowa, my biggest tractor is a FORD 7740. Named the “Blue Mule”! Nice to know there are people out there, that understand. Most farmers, Don’t get it!

Unfortunately, they used only one Goblin truck for Maximum Overdrive and it got destroyed (blown up) during filming. The remains were hauled off to a scrapyard.
HalcyonDaze I Know where the goblin is. I worked for the now owner of it. It was sitting in the weeds the last time I saw it. The person I worked for did work for the studios here in Wilmington, NC.

My dad drove truck for over 20 years, his handle was "the Blue Mule". My brother has drove truck for over 20 years. I grew up on B.J. McKay, and Smokey and the Bandit.

Yes! But I believe there are no original surviving Blue Mules, which is probably why it didn't make it to the show, but otherwise I'm sure it definitely would have been there.

Derrell Barnhill the orangal blue mule is in Montana or was five years ago 4 were built only truck 2 survived
a guy in new mexico has the mule..he hauls pottys and movie set equip for Hollywood..and he has a bj and the bear kw..you can find him on flickr...

Its strange I actually had the same model. I loved watching Movin On, My grandmother was in one of the episodes filmed I Portland, Or. Also I just started watching Movin On here on You Tube. Thanks for bringing these trucks back to us it was nice to see them again.

When I was a kid I bought the Moving on Kenworth model kit. I built it for a hobby store contest and won 1st prize. Great video alot of memories.

Movin’ On was one of my favorite shows (along with Cade’s County). Too bad [neither] lasted very long . B.J. ...lasted for 3seasons .
Although I liked Claud Aikins better as Sonny, a serious truck driver,than a buffoon of a cop. He was an excellent actor.

Rhett Corbett. Some of my favourite films had him as an actor ''The Mechanic'', ''Buster and Billie'' ''Danger Island'' and driving that COE Ford in WLF. He did his own stunts in that film no double for him. Cheers from Australia.

By far the red and white rig is most stunningly Beautiful man….
But my favorite is the Duel Peterbuilt, absolutely terrifying rig…. I can’t imagine what people think when they see it on the road!!!! Awesome!!!!
I loved the movie "DUEL," they just don't make movies like that anymore.
Of course they do. Duel set the standard for its type of cat & mouse movie plot.
@@generalyellor8188 Well, to be more precise, they TRY to make movies like that...and almost always fall short, trying to throw in more of a background plot into their attempts and missing the mark as a result.

Xlnt video, these were some of the best shows, when tv was safe for kids, not all the bloody crap that's on tv now. They need to bring these shows back. Instead of most of the crappy reruns we're forced to watch now. I can appreciate these shows because I myself drove for 32 years, it was a great life. KEEP ON TRUCKING BROTHERS!!!!!!🚛🚛🚛🚛🚛🚛😎

Oh wow! I recognize 4 of the 5 trucks on display (Convoy, Smokey & The Bandit, B.J. and the Bear, Duel). I wished I was there to see this.
Yeah I didn't recognize the Movin on truck never heard of it.
Also never officially watched BJ and the Bear, but I've seen clips in passing to know that's what the truck was from.
I was born in 84 so BJ and the Bear is something I never got introduced to officially.
Was it a good show? Worth giving the series a watch, or is it pretty dated?
I'm thinking a chimp and a sweet Aerodine sounds like a winning combo to me.
I love me some Convoy and you can definitely tell it's from a different time.
Probably biased though as watching Convoy as a kid got me into trucking.
Nostalgia definitely has its finger on the scale for me with that movie.
The "Movin on" KW, needs to have the multiple plates, put on it, and the correct wheels, and the 78,100 gross wgt. on the door, and the correct taillights on the back, and pulling a 45' Fruehauf to look authentic...
Chris Griffin yeah 1st thing I noticed was the gross vehicle weight. Was it a 45', I though it would have been a 40'. I maybe wrong, but I think max at that time was 40 foot, I believe 45 came out in mid 80s. A lot of drivers were still using 40 in the late 80s.
