You know it's a good day when your favorite bonsai channel puts out a video with your favorite bonsai species
Great tree, and great job styling Jason! Blue Atlas Cedar is now on my bonsai wish list! 😍 8" oval for the win!
The tree Looks so peaceful
I saw a huge Blue Atlas Cedar in my local nursery over here in the UK, I’ve finally managed to source a young tree in a 5 litre pot and started my you tube research. This has been by far the most informative video so far and it’s filled me with hope that in time I might have a tree that’s somewhere close to what you have achieved . Thanks for posting , I’ll definitely be subscribing !
Beautiful
8imch pot looks awesome and will give room for the roots to grow.
Happy to see new content!
Beautiful tree. Well done 👍👍👍. Love you work and confidence.
Awesome tree and good precise styling. The 8'' rectangular pot is the way to go.
Looking good 👍
The rectangular 1 I think would fit the best definitely
Nice video Jason. What a beautiful tree!
The 8” oval for sure. Nicely done styling. Thanks for your videos.
The movement in the trunk is great! Iv recently Potted up some blue cedar airlayers I took their now in the phase your trees been in for the last few years. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely love your videos. 0 BS. Great explanations from a to z
Thank you
8 inch oval looked great. Great job!
Great video. I get the branch placement for the side branches (alternating), but can you perhaps explain how you handle back branches? how to choose and position them to fit the tree design?
Thank you so.much.
Atlas cedars are beautiful. The downside is most of them are straight up no movement. Glad to see you added some to this tree it makes it amazing 👏
Aussie Dave here, wow beautiful work, I bought 2 blue ice cedar, that I have wired the trunks, but after watching your video I need to tighten my trunks 🤗🤗
FINALLY a new video 👍👍👍👍
I’ll go with the 8” oval. Nice to see you back 👍👍🇵🇷
The oval - large one looks good. Thanks Jason
Rectangle pot for me. It makes the tree look really sharp in its lines, making it look more impressive. Giving it a wow factor.
Rectangle pot. Gives it room to grow. Nice style. Great little tree,
The bigger round one , great lesson on cedar bonsai for me to, thank you Sir 🙏🏼🙏🏼🏴
Good material…well done.
Great tree!
I like the rectangle. Great video!
My favorite species. I wish I could grow one here in phoenix.
Absolutely awesome video! Got a couple of these myself to work on. 8 inch rectangular for me.
Amazing species and great work!
Very nice
Fantastic 💚🙏
great tree jason it's now on my bucket list
What a spectacular tree, you have an amazing skill to create such a beautiful bonsai and to make it look so easy. Thank you for uploading this video
Definitely the rectangular pot😍
Nice work on the Cedar. I like the 8" Oval
Really like the Blue Atlas Cedar - 8" Oval or a thin/shallow rectangle might work as well down the road (White or grey in color to work with the foliage).
Looks great! I prefer the 8” oval
hello friends, the bonsai is really good, thank you for sharing, it is very inspiring, greetings, one hobby, friend, from a new friend, always success
I would definitely use the rectangular pot. Thanks for another great video
Thanks mate
Beautiful tree, its my favourite tree of all, my hope is to have one eventually
Always great videos Jason. Awesome tree! 8" oval for me.
I feel the midsize pot work the best . Great Video
Great video, you make it look so simple! I don't usually work with conifers but may give the blue atlas cedar a try. I would go with the 8 inch oval.
Nicely done! I always look forward to your uploads.
They always have some Blue Atlas at a nursery near me for like 50 dollars fora 3 gallon pot tree. I might have to pick one up this year after seeing how this came out.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience great video 😊 hello from the UK 🇬🇧
I like the large round, although I think I like the rectangle more.
Jason this’s a beautiful tree. The 8” oval pad if perfect for it. Thank you for your class. Martin
Awesome tree. 8” oval
i like the 8in oval
8" oval. Such a cool tree. Not familiar with the species, I'll be looking for one in the spring...
Rectangle all day! Great little tree. I have two I need to repot from nursery soil/containers but I’m nervous about how they respond to root pruning. I hope you record the repot. 🤙
Wonderful tree i Like the Colors👌
Im new to this and happy to have found your channell. 💚🙏✨️
I'd love to see you style another tree in the style of an Atlantic cedar. Nice multitrunk with a wide flat plateau
Nice tree. I like both the 8" rectangle and the oval, but I have to say I'd go for the oval!
I like the oval pot
I like the 8" oval but I think that the 8" rectangle looks just slightly better. I would go for the rectangle pot. It just looks more grounded and less forced than the tiny oval pot (especially the six-inch oval) and gives more space for the tree to continue to develop.
Great videos 👍🏽8" oval for the win.
I think you should do walks around your nursery to show what you been working on and doing around and explaining more details and information maybe like seasonal walks or something sounds really nice as a playlist 🍁 I don't no just a suggestion
Very naius Lauik
Beautiful tree - also my favourite. For me the 8" oval is the pot - have you got one a little shallower though?
I like the oval pot. Question, did you just recently style this tree? Gauging time of year. Here in Southern Oregon they recommend late April when it has warmed up. I have 3 I have been growing for 5 years and will first style this year. We are zone 7b. I know they can be prone to needle drop if they get unhappy. I like to compare to see how trees do in other areas. Thank you so much as always for your videos and knowledge.
Beautiful! I like the rectangular pot. How do you decide the depth of the pot?
Awesome video. Id say the 8” oval?
Go with the larger oval! Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Hi Jason! I got one of your blue atlas cedars but I want to thicken the trunk. Do you recommend I repot it from a bonsai pot to a nursery pot. What soil would you recommend?
Do the 8 inch oval. You need to decrease the root mass slowly over time. They do not respond well to root pruning so do as minimal as possible. Learned that by experiencing and killing a nice one that I root pruned too much to get it into the "perfect pot". Dark brown color really highlights the blue foliage.
Jason great video like always. If I may I have a question. I’m in Cal. San Pedro and I have Chinese elm that I was planning on repotting in the spring. It never lost any leaves this winter and it is putting out new leave now. Should I repot or still wait till spring?
Thanks for any advice.
Hi Jason, you mentioned fertiliser for the cedar. Do you use slow release water soluble? I live in Australia and I've heard cedars don't like fertiliser as a rule. Interested in your opinions. Thank you
Nice material that never find in my country
How big was it when you wired the trunk? I have 7 BAC that are 3 years old, I recently wired the trunks & was wondering how long it would take for them to develop into something this size. Thanks!
I like the 8 inch oval. Maybe it looks too big for some people but I'd rather start with a bigger pot & maybe in the future goes for smaller or bigger pot depending on the design.
The rectangle looks nice too if you are going for an aggressive, edgy look. But I prefer Balance, spiky on top, smooth curve at the bottom.
Go for the bigger oval. Great video!
🙏🏼👍
I personally struggle finding the right pot, I tend to choose pots a bit too big!! Honestly all those pots looked good but I think ether the small one to the rectangle one suit it best!
If heard a lot about them not liking their roots touched and and very difficult to keep alive. Any advice on when to repot and how to go about caring for them after? And big cuts.
I like the oval
Hello Dave what kind of fertilisers did you used in these type if trees?
I Prefer the Oval Pot..😉
Cheers thks for sharing
Great looking tree. Do you find blue atlas can sulk after repotting
In my experience they really don't like repotting. They resent too much root removal.
❤👍👍
🍎👍
Hey what time of years did u style this?
Round drum may be best.
Just bought one from you guys. Question, when repotting, do you treat these guys like junipers in regards to root work? Heard that they hate root work.
when is the best period to reduce the root ball ?
8" oval... looks ace in all of em lol
Shallow oval 8”
can i req sir.i want to you show formation of top tree
i mean you can show that formation use draw for top of tree many style
formal or cascade for example
thank you
glad to see you again
good day for you and family
Is this the one that is for sale?
Whens a good time to repot cedar?
The 8 inch over is the better pot. Wife asks is it for sale? We would love to have it. We are in WA, near Pacific Bonsai Museum.
i go 8' oval pot
With regards to propagation, is this tree grafted? Does anyone have experience rooting cuttings or air layering atlas cedars?
Nice vid, thanks, and good to see you up and going after such a difficult time recently!
Rectangle...
Do you guys sell any of these trees? I have a lot of difficulty finding bonsai-worthy stock (I have none locally).
Hi Jason do you know of goerge omi ? He has a lot of blue atlas cedars . Is he still around ? He had a channel here . Every time someone who messes with blue atlas cedars on here from California I wonder if anyone knows him .
third pot
