    🌟 Get ready to join our adventurous family on an extraordinary Disney cruise as we set sail to the captivating ports of Ponta Delgada and Lisbon! 🚢
    🌺 Our first stop was Ponta Delgada, where we were fortunate enough to experience the mesmerizing religious festival of Senhor Santo Christo dos Milagres. The streets came alive with a riot of vibrant colors as they were adorned with breathtaking floral displays. The fragrance of the flowers filled the air, immersing us in a truly magical atmosphere. And oh, the Portuguese tarts! They were simply divine - warm, creamy, and with every bite, we were transported to dessert heaven. 🌸🥐
    🌿 Next, we found ourselves in the lush paradise of Jardim Botânico António Borges, a botanical garden filled with hidden treasures. As we explored the winding paths and discovered secret caves, we were in awe of the natural beauty surrounding us. Our taste buds were then treated to a symphony of flavors in the form of a mouthwatering panini, featuring locally grown pineapple, savory chorizo, and the irresistible local cheese. It was a culinary masterpiece that left us craving more! 🍍🧀
    🌞 Our journey continued to the vibrant city of Lisbon, where the sun greeted us with its warm embrace. However, the heat and the long walks proved to be a bit challenging for our little ones, resulting in some adorable grumpiness. But hey, it's all part of the adventure, and we embraced every moment with laughter and understanding. 😅
    🚖 Taxi-hunting in Lisbon turned into an unexpected adventure, as we opted for a thrilling tuk-tuk ride through the lively streets. The wind in our hair, the bustling energy around us, and the panoramic views made it an exhilarating experience. Once in the heart of the city, our local guide Ricardo became our superhero, leading us on a fascinating 3-hour walking tour.
    🌆 Our tour began at the breathtaking Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, where we were treated to sweeping views of Lisbon's iconic landmarks. The Convento de São Pedro de Alcântara captivated us with its historical significance and architectural splendor. As hunger struck, we discovered a hidden gem called PARQUE PRINCIPE REA, where we savored the delightful flavors of Portuguese empanadas and chicken pie, fueling our bodies for the adventures that lay ahead. 🥟🍗
    🚋 Of course, a trip to Lisbon wouldn't be complete without a wild trolley ride! Packed with locals and fellow travelers, it was a whirlwind experience filled with laughter and camaraderie. Our guide introduced us to a tantalizing twist on the classic Portuguese tarts, suggesting a sprinkle of cinnamon. It was a game-changer, adding a delightful aroma and flavor that we simply couldn't resist. And to quench our thirst, we indulged in refreshing lemon iced tea, the perfect accompaniment to our sweet treats. 🚃🍮🍋
    🛳️ As our time in Lisbon drew to a close, we bid farewell to this vibrant city, cherishing every moment of our family travel experience. Don't forget to hit that like button, leave a comment, and subscribe to our channel for more thrilling adventures around the globe! 🌍✨

    Sao Miguel Island was seriously one of the most magical places we've ever been! It is such a beautiful island and we'd love to return! Lisbon is a bit hectic and the trolley ride was like a roller coaster 😂 the kids got pretty wiped from all the walking too haha. Have you ever been to either places? Let us know what other places we should visit in our year of travel ❤

    Cute how kids were learning location from a real map!...that's how we found anywhere, growing up before GPS 😏

      Sometimes old-school map reading is better! Especially when you're in cities that are that old. It makes you feel like a real explorer using a map vs GPS...

    Wow beautiful country! Another one on the bucket list ! Also if we go to Portugal, we are sure to check out one of the football stadiums and get us a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey for a souvenir as we would with Messi if we go to Argentina😆 My hubby is eastern European (Romania) and he's a big football fan.

      @WorldFamilyExplorers  Před rokem +4

      Hi Rick, great question! We are currently on summer break, but we will start homeschooling again in August! Our kids have been learning a ton from traveling though lots of life lessons and history. My dad will be bringing our books though in Bulgaria (we don't use very much computer for homeschooling) so we can start our book work again in August 😄

    Ponta Delgada looked beautiful! The botanical gardens took me back to when I was little and played outside all the time.
    Was communication an issue? Our cruises so far have been to countries where English is spoken in the ports, I wasn't sure how Portugal and other European stops were.

    • @WorldFamilyExplorers
      @WorldFamilyExplorers  Před rokem +2

      Close to port its generally not much of an issue as English is widely spoken (especially in tourist areas). When you get off the beaten path and to more local places, it can be more challenging. We try to learn basic phrases in each language and typically get by with that and some sign language 😅 The Google translate app on my phone helps a lot as well! You can take a picture of a menu or items in the grocery stores and it translates the words in the picture.

    Did you need any visas, to get off in the ports? We are taking the Dream back on the transatlantic cruise in September.

    • @WorldFamilyExplorers
      @WorldFamilyExplorers  Před rokem +3

      No, it was a very quick and simple process! You will need to submit pictures of your passports to Disney at check in. They clear customs for you with those. So you just scan your room key when leaving the ship on port days and that's it. Bring your passport to get back on board though! What ports do you stop at? That's sailing is from UK I think so port stops are probably different.

      @@WorldFamilyExplorers we are leaving out of Southampton in England, stops are Vigo, Spain and Lisbon. Then we cross and go to Bermuda, and finish in New York! We have 3 little ones under 7 so the info from your videos is very helpful. Thanks for the response!

    • @WorldFamilyExplorers
      @WorldFamilyExplorers  Před rokem +2

      @kyleconductor so glad you found the videos helpful! You will have an amazing time! In Lisbon, there is an earthquake museum close to Port so if you don't feel like walking around much that day (it's a lot of hills so be warned 😅) that can be a fun alternative for the kids!

    • @WorldFamilyExplorers
      @WorldFamilyExplorers  Před rokem +1

      @kyleconductor and Bermuda!! What a great stop! It sounds like your stops are a bit more spread out which will be nice! Ours were all the second week pretty much back to back so it was a bit tiring. All the days at sea are such a treat though! You have plenty of time to enjoy everything the ship has to offer and you don't need to rush around.
