  • We bought a pallet-load of maple slats. Now, where to store them? There was no place on the ground or in the shop, so I turned to overhead storage.

Nice job my friend. By the way whatever it takes to get it stored away in the end is all that matters.

I'm happy with it. After I use enough of it and get it out of the way, I'll go back up and put more 2x4 supports. But for now it's doing fine.

Looks a bit overloaded, because the bars bend strongly. A rule of thumb in wood engineering is, that the bow over long time shoud not be more than the length of the beam divided by 300. Also the strong force trying to pull the screws trough the bars could be a problem, because the location of the holes is close to the end of the bars. So there is a risk of cracking. Maybe big washers could spread the force better. In my opinion more bars would be better to reduce the risk of an damage, if one fails.

Thanks, Matze. Yes, I've eyed it often, thinking more bars would have been better. I should have done that before I loaded it up. Now, I will have to take most of the load down to add more bars. I appreciate your input. The washers, I will add at first opportunity.
