Tourmalin is my favorit stone, especially the green one; I have several of this stone in my small collection. Green turrmaline strengthens the nervous system.
I cut some tailings from a Maine Tourmaline mine two days ago. Mostly feldspar, but occasionally I get some colorful tourmaline bits in it.

I would love to find a video that covers Pariaba Tourmaline in depth. I am a new collector and have purchased a few stones. I would love to know how the color impacts value, especially in relation to other factors like inclusions and size.
Example, if neon blue is the most desirable color, what if you had a larger green hue stone that was cleaner. How would they compare?
What about less saturated stones?
Would you consider doing a video focusing on Pariaba Tourmaline?
Hello and thank you for the question. Sorry for the delay in responding. We have been out of the country for a while, and we were also dealing with some health issues in my family. I will try to give you a short answer and perhaps do a more in depth lesson with one of the experts in that field. The short answer is as follows. I always say with colored gemstones Color is the most important of the 4 c's. Once you see that incredible color for the first time you never forget, But in this case, country of origin is also a huge factor in the value. This color (I call it teal) was first discovered in Paraiba, Brazil. However, which frequently happens in the gem business. other similar colored tourmalines from Africa were being sold as paraiba tourmaline. Lawsuits ensued and the result, only tourmaline from Paraiba, Brazil can be called Paraiba. To further confuse the issue, some similar colored apatite from madagascar was being marketed as "paraiba colored apatite". Not necessarily illegal but maybe a bit misleading. Finally this thought: Color is first and foremost. Than the clarity. You can have a huge stone that is very heavily included and it wouldn't be worth very much. As for the cut? you would want to maximize the carat weight. Some cuts retain more of the carat weight of the rough than others, Hope this helps and good luck!

I don't know-it seems your watermelon might have gotten a little rotten! Just kidding, that is definitely a multi-color tourmaline, but I would reserve the watermelon moniker for the green and red. But that does not diminish the value of your tourmaline!

Just wondering about watermelon tourmaline. I have a piece that has a black outer edge, a purple color band to the core, which is transparent to black. Is this a type of watermelon tourmaline? If not, what is it please?
