- As John Schneider prepares for his first NFL draft without Pete Carroll by his side, there's a "breath of fresh air" in the building as veteran defender Uchena Nwosu describes it.
How will this translate to what we see on the field, and how will Schneider approach the draft with a new coaching staff in place?
Long-time Seattle Seahawks beat reporter Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune joined me to share his thoughts on what he's seeing, hearing, and sensing as the Seahawks transition to a new era.

Gregg, please do not retire. As Dan said, you are the best. Keep going with Tacoma Tribune and everything, Gregg.
Gregg was speaking facts! Until we get better with the interior trenches more specifically the Oline we’re never going to get past the 49ers in terms of winning the division/playing them in the playoffs
It’s not about the O-line. It’s all about the defense. The Hawks had the worst defense in the league, could not stop anyone, and spent most of the game on the field. So much so that Hawks offense had the least possessions in the league. You cannot win if the defense cannot stop anyone, no matter how good your offense is. So, fix the defense first in this draft, and then address the offense. That means they need to get a couple of the best ILBs, a Safety, and an Edge. This will take multiple years, as Hawks do not have nearly enough draft picks to fill all positions with quality starters.
@@tomdrewenskus8167 our oline was terrible last year too even when we got Lucas back it was so inconsistent
Great show as always Dan. Keep up the great work and content
You drink beer from cans? I'll take draft Guinness at room temperature. The way God intended.
Another great one Dan!!! I am in the group I think we should trade DK. Get some draft picks that will help build the team. We are not ready to compete so why keep paying DK the money and cap hit when his talent will not help the team win. We can get a good WR in the draft but the haul we could get for him I think would help fill spots we are in dire need of.
I totally agree
Good show, could you cover your favorite draft picks and how they have moved up and down the board since you started looking? On PFN they have the ups and downs.
I’m doing a “my guys” show next week
it is not like med school or learning German. It is still English, but is a new code.
Penix is a great quarterback.
Never build around a WR
Do these guys not pay attention to John Schneider. He says they meet with qbs, because down the road these guys get cut or are available down the road in the league. Seahawks are always competing. I love this team and pay attention very deeply. I have seen these negative pod cast before where they say the seahawks are not going to make the playoffs, rebuild year, or not going to be competitive. Under John Schneider and Pete Carroll, how many times have they been to the playoffs in those years? If you were ever a true competitor you know that the first part is believing you are going to win and every year I believe the seahawks are going to win. Start believing and trust the professionals to do their job. None of these guys have been GMs In the NFL. I would always go to the professional for the best opinion. John Schneider I trust!
I like alot of what you said but I'm sure there is plenty of truth to john looking at qbs to build trade interest.
I like John but trust the professional? John admitted they traded for Williams because they thought they were better than they were. Not for nothing he's the pro and none if are and yet he's made plenty of mistakes.
Just signed Laken for four million for one season.
Saw that tonight! “Up to” 4 million. Great timing huh? lol
@@SeahawksForeverDanViens Now you'll have to redo this entire video. 😄
Not a huge fan of Gregg as I think he stirs shit up for clicks. But love your show Dan. Good content & discussions 👏🏻👏🏻💙💚 DK needs to do work on the Juggs machine 😂
Don't disagree about the Juggs machine. Might be nice for him to play with a qb that is more consistent than a fading Wilson and a hot and cold Geno.
Penix is not a second choice.
Tony Montana is a fan and all he sent you was beer? I gotta that's ok. Don't flirt with his sister, though. He's overly protective.
Sam Howell could be the 1 million dollar ruse....they could trade DK and move up..and get a QB. Just saying.
Trading DK would not get us to the first two picks. Seattle needs to build the line.
Why everyone wanna get rid of DK so bad? He's elite. And getting better.
Trading DK costs you a 20 million dollar dead money cap hit…..it will not happen….
@@randycrenshaw9817 this all goes back to the Hill trade. Everyone thinks you can get the farm for trading a receiver. What they don’t understand it would cost Seattle an additional 12.5 million in dead cap and with the receiver class being as deep as it is, the return wouldn’t be worth it.
Seriously it’s mind boggling to talk about trading Metcalf! He will be one of the best ever ! You watch these new coaches take him to next level !
Whenever I hear penix it’s hard to respect that opinion.
If we traded back and he was available at our 2cd pick. I'd be down. But if we go QB with our only 1st or second round pick. Dumb........ the elite oline is gonna be gone by the 3rd round
@@randycrenshaw9817 yep. The whole qb of the future is a overrated concept right now. No one talks about that at the jets and they actually need to think about that
Geno could play another 5 years and be above average. Howell is younger than penix and has 4500 nfl passing yards and 28 touchdowns.....we have too many holes. Fix the trenches and the LB room. Wins will come. If we didn't have dk I think we are in the low 20s offensively next year
@@randycrenshaw9817 I think dk is a
Bit overrated but I like the skill positions players as a whole including Geno
@@alginvestmentllc7638qbotf is overrated? Doubt the Texans feel that way. The jets? Sure they should but they won't since they built their whole team for an old guy with a bad leg.
love this show keep it up dan 🫡
