I can't tell you how many mascara ive tried. From £3 to £40. And the maybelline sky high is the best. Never clumps, smudges or runs. Second place goes to maybelline lash sensational.
I'm curious how they wear. I have tried mascaras that I loved right when I applied them, but then within a few hours they flaked everywhere and looked terrible. The ELF one is cheap enough that I will give it a try regardless.
I was thinking the same thing. I have oily skin and my mascara and eyeliner tend to melt down my face as the day goes on. I'd love to know how these looked a few hours later!
I didn't have that issues with any of these but that could vary from person to person...
Same thought here too. I got the Essence Lash Princess for the good reviews and cheap price, but it flakes all day on me. Just trying to finish the bottle before I get a different mascara.

Thank you for including ones that contain more natural ingredients and are vegan and cruelty free! I have tried the cover girl clean and it's a mess for me too! I have loved elf skin care products that I've tried. Adding the mascara to my list to try!

My holy grail is Loreal telescopic. It had a great brush that makes it easy to get close to lash line and separates & lengthens. I only need 1 coat.
Lash Princess in either the green or pink are my favorites
I tend to go for the volumizing mascara, since my lashes are long, but thin. The Loreal voluminous mascara was my favorite for a long time. But now I'm really liking IT cosmetics superhero mascara. The Thrive cosmetics original mascara is really great for lengthening and it comes in brown.

Try L'Oreal Telescopic. Just the regular telescopic. Love this one for lengthening!

I have used the Maybelline Full 'N Soft mascara for YEARS. I've tried others in there, but I always come back to this one. I do 2 coats and it separates and lengthens so well for me.
Ooh I love a good mascara review where they use brown! My fave as of late has been the elf lash n roll. Went to my Target app to see if they had the one you tried (all sold out) and see they have an actual tubing mascara now! I might just have to try that!

I've tried a few of these. I have used the Covergirl Lash Blast Volume since it came out and love it. I find multiple coats and adding coats of the waterproof after gives me WOW lashes. I'm going to have to try the Maybelline Sky High and ELF Big Mood. Thanks for comparing them and sharing the results with us.

Makes me wonder if my sky high was already old when I bought it because it pretty much always clumps and has a messy look. Makes it look like I have 7 clumps of lashes
I use L’Oreal Lash Paradise and love it. I like it with two coats, but can get a little clumpy on the second coat. I have recently have been using a lash primer also in the same brand with one coat of mascara and it comes out beautifully.

There is some great info in here. If you notice that you get a smeary mess when cleaning up the spots on your lid, wait until its dry then use a spoolie to easily scrape it away. I think I may try a brown mascara now. I love the way the Elf big mood looked! I am also going to have to try that out. It gives exactly the look I am going for in my mascara!

My absolute favorite mascara formula is the Maybelline Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Washable! I hate clumpy lashes, and mascara that is super hard to wash off.
This was an unexpected video! I'm afraid to try mascaras because every single one of them has too much smudging and fallout. I stick with the one I know, Elf Lash N' Roll

My fav right now is ELF LashnRoll i think it's called. It comes n brown too. I made the happy accident of grabbing it n brown and actually really liked how it looked. I love a natural look for eveyday wear. Great video Courtney

The purple cover girl lash blast fusion is where it’s at for me.
I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this but the new Loreal Panorama mascara is FANTASTIC. Good length and natural volume. And it removes like a tubing formula. No smudges or flakes. I have oily skin/eyelids so the no smudging thing is major for me.

And it cosmetics is just not the same since they got bought out they keep discontinuing products that I like and not coming up with better ones. So I’m looking for a new mascara and I’d love to get something at the drugstore. Thank you for doing this review. It was really helpful.
Sky High is an excellent mascara, but I prefer the waterproof, which is difficult to remove. My absolute favorite mascaras are pricey tubing formulas. The Thrive tubing mascara is actually my favorite for everyday, but it separates from my lashes when I cry. For that reason, I have been choosing the Caliray mascara instead because it is easy to remove but it withstands tears as well as a conventional waterproof mascara.

I may be alone in this, but I never do more than 1 coat. Once mascara dries, trying to apply more on top just results in clumpiness. I used to love that Essence mascara, but it smudges every time. I don't really have a mascara I love, just ones I like well enough. Sigh.
I never do more than one coat either, otherwise it's so clumpy! I get best results with a tubing mascara
If you want volume, try a lash primer under mascara. It is formulated to have another coat on top, so it rarely clumps

I agree about Essence. I used to love it too but I think they changed the formula.

This was fun. I also recommend the Wet and Wild mega length mascara. I can't remember if it comes in a brown but I love the length I get. I also have uber blonde lashes. :)

The new elf tubing mascara I'd bomb and it comes in brown . It is called lash xtndr. I have already purchased a back up tube.

Maybelline sky high is my go-to for now. The loreal lash paradise or lash sensational are pretty nice too, but i prefer a tubing mascara

I have used BareMinerals for years, but before I used that brand, I used CoverGirl LashBlast in the orange and purple tubes 😄
Your lashes are beautiful! I know it's not drugstore, but my go to is the Icon Mascara from Il Makiage. It's $29, and it does come in brown. I find it to be the least clumpy out of all the ones I've tried. It builds up well, too.

I tried many, but the best one and only one I use is Maybelline. Gives me great length and last until I wash it out. 👍
So far my favourite mascara is waterproof Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift. Tried so many mascaras in my time. I currently have a few open but I have a new tube of the one I mentioned. It will be interesting to see if anything knocks it of its perch!
Someone else recommended this one! But it is nice to experiment. You never know what you may find!
My fave from the drug store is the tried and true L'Oreal Lash Paradise
Using a lash primer is a game changer. I use a volumizing mascara. Both combined, make my lashes look long and full.

The maybeline sky high is really good but i get it everywhere maybe because i have very thin like almost missing in some spots but thats just my fault i guess. But yea easily messy for me but it is good at length and separation.
My all-time favorite was Cover Girl Lash Blast Length (in the yellow tube). Since it was discontinued, i haven't found anything that does smudge or flake. 😢

The Honest Beauty mascara has been one of my very favorites. 😂 And I think that the primer does help. But I switched to Essence Lash Like a Boss which works equally well for me for $5 per tube and doesn't require the primer step. Loved the video!

My old favorite was the L'oreal Voluminous and I do still like that one a lot. Then I tried the Essence Lash Princess and it became my new favorite and I still like that one as well. So I tried the Essence What the Fake! and that is now my new favorite. It says it is for both volume and length. I have very sparse lashes so I do like a volumizing mascara and don't mine a little clumpiness. I thought your lashes looked really good with the Essence one. I tried the L'oreal Telescoping mascara and didn't care for it either.

This year I gave up on makeup except an eyebrow pencil, a tinted sunscreen & lip color! I curl my lashes and add a bold lip color & I am good to go. Life became simple & I feel beautiful!

Hi Courtney, have you tried tubing mascaras? My mascara always used to run (I have oily skin) but tubing mascara doesn’t run and comes off with warm water.
A’Del Natural Cosmetics is online but their shipping is always free! They also align with my values. They donate a %of proceeds to pregnancy centers.
ANYWAY, their mascara is awesome and falls in the drugstore pricing.
It helps to wipe the excess formula off the brush on the opening of the mascara bottle. I have been using Maybelline Lash Sensational and had a problem with heavy clumsiness and after doing this (a lot of women do this technique) it made a big difference. Hope this helps someone.
*Tubing Formula and Wands* . I'm 56 with small hooded eyes and stick straight barely there lashes. I prefer tubing formulas as they are easily removed with water only. Wands make a huge difference for me. I use the super skinny wand from the Wet N Wild Mega length for the first coat with Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes, this acts as a primer coat for me. Then I use the fat wand that comes with the Essence BBPE. This mascara doesn't flake, smudge or clump up. Sadly, it only comes in black. I rarely use mascara on the lower lashes, but when I do, I use the Believe Beauty High Definition Skinny in brown. If you find a wand that you like, SAVE it!

My hair is about as dark a brown you can be without looking black but im with you, I prefer a brown/black mascara because it just looks better with a brown tone. Brown is too light and black is too harsh. Nice review thanks!

Most mascara smudges on my super oily skin. I find tubing mascaras are less likely to smudge (but some still do). ELF just came out with a brand new tubing mascara called Lash XTNDR. I've been using it for a little over a week and man, oh man I must say it's fantastic! 2 coats give me long, beautiful lashes. And it does. Not. Smudge. I don't know if it comes in brown. I use black. I've used the Thrive Causemetics tubing mascara that everyone raves about. The ELF is better in my opinion because the Thrive flakes a little. ELF Lash XTNDR gets a 10/10 from me. That's the first mascara I've ever said that about! And trust me, I've tried all the drugstore mascaras. I hate Essence, L'Oreal, and Maybelline mascaras. Raccoon eyes all the way. CoverGirl formulas are better. They still smudge, but not as much as the rest
I have such trouble with mascara not irritating my eyes. The one I keep returning to is Clinique High Impact. It is pricey. I can't seem to find any other that won't irritate my eyes. :( This is a great review of several mascaras.
Same. Clinique is the only mascara that is non irritating & it's a tubing formula so it doesn't run. Plus the brush is tiny

Brown mascara became impossible to find & it was always my preference too. Black can too harsh & fake looking on those of us with lighter coloring/pale lashes. I finally just gave in & opted for brownish-black. I dislike overly wet formulas & because my eyes water so much I must use tubing or wp formulas.
I wish it was easier to find brown as well! It's tricky finding just the right one that fits the bill!
The Honest mascara is so much better with the primer. The trick is don’t let the primer dry and wipe the wand of the mascara side off so you don’t get too much product at once. I go back and forth with the Honest and Thrive. I want to try the Milano tubing mascara that’s supposed to be the dupe for the Thrive
It’s interesting how personal mascara is. I found the Lash Princess to be clumpy and flake and smudge horribly. I like Sky High mascara a lot. I’m currently using the Ulta Lash Flash, a tubing formula.
I just discovered City Beauty, Beyond Mascara. No, it isn't drugstore, but, they have bogo's occasionally and that puts the regularly $35 mascara into my price range. I swear my lashes are in better condition! Thicker lashes, longer, more fluttery, doesn't smear or flake nor do my lashes get hard and brittle, at least on my hooded eyes. It comes off beautifully with balm. They don't have brown though. Thanks for showing us your results.

Fellow brown mascara user here, black is just too harsh on me! I'm a big fan of the Maybelline Sky High. I curl first and usually all I need is one coat for daytime, I'll put two for night time if I'm going out. It's never failed on me, clean application and lasts all day. 👍
I'll look out for the elf next time I need a new tube! Even if the wand is seriously scary!!! 😂

My lashes are long, straight as a board and white at the tips. Every mascara I’ve ever used (I’m 76) lumps on the first coat.

@@SwavyCurlyCourtney it has an hourglass wand and a much wetter formula than Lash Paradise so I don't get any clumping with it, just long separated lashes that appear fuller.
I guess my question is if you like the results of some of these on one coat why are you going back in with another coat?
I’m guessing the reason that the ‘clean’ Covergirl mascara smeared more that the OG orange mascara was bc the clean version has argon oil, maybe too much oil.

Try essence bye bye panda eyes or no more panda eyes (not sure which name but something panda eyes). I’ve always had an issue with flaking, but not with this one!
