OUTSTANDING! a few points......I was told years ago from a high end/professional engine builder to never use (cloth) when cleaning, building an engine. The fibers can carbonize- create damage. Some concerns about junk getting in the oil holes. I dont understand why you would want TAPE on the bearings inside your engine.
For anyone interested in doing this and has a bad rod bearing yes it can be done and yes it is the correct way with motor in vehicle I'd say it would work for him had his main bearings not been bad I just say you do have one or two rod bearings bad you can do them just like this very easy for you can do them all
Use Blue Loctite.. Not much on the out shell of the bearings. Then plastigage them to make sure you got the right tolerance. Reinstall bearing caps. She be good as new. As race car drivers do this shit...
Yes and no if you can pull the crank out you can do the main bearings in the car hard to do main bearings without pulling the crank the results my main bearings were bad and they spun and lock the motor down before I can actually find out if this really work but it seemed like it did
@@lonewolfcustoms3725 how did you determine main bearing as cause of failure? I also noticed you taped over the oil journal holes with tape with the shellac.. did you remove that tape??
it seemed to work but the motor's main bearings were bad to and they spun so ultimately it didn't work describe if you ain't cuz I've got a video fixing to come out about what happened to the poor charger

I did this on an engine, but used a set of bearing shells to make sure it stayed round. Took 20 thousandths off a rod journal
How long did you go at it? I'm concerned that I will remove too much material.

bearings have 'locking tabs' to prevent rotating. what am I missing?
Locating tabs assist assembly, not prevent rotating, bearing crush is what prevent bearing from spinning

So youre saying use loctite to keep rod bearings from spinning after theyve been spun? Does it work?

Would change both rod and crank bearings.

I taped over the wall holes to the rod not where the oil comes in the all comes through the crank

There was all kinds of glitter in the inside of that engine
I think a stripper owned it
Lol she messed up and dumped her glitter in the engine instead of oil
