    In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off the grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, now we turn it into our Tiny Home on Wheels!

    Watch Season 3: Bus Build series here: • The Bus Build - Rehabi...
    In its previous life, our MCI bus was used as a school bus, although we don't think we can legitimately call it a skoolie. We are confident that converting our bus into a class a motor home will have challenges, but doing a massive overhaul and remodel on a motorhome / RV remodel didn’t seem to align with the off grid bus life we were aiming for.
    In Season 4 we share the interior build as we turn it into our home.

    Such a great episode - And I have a crossover comment! Don - If you recall, I am also a fan of Sample Library Review - A while back I built a "Laptop Board" to mount my laptop, Focusrite, external HD and power strip so I could have a portable guitar VST interface that I could bring wherever I might play/record - So your "Water Board" looks brilliant to me! 😁

    Turn the pressure tank around where the line from the filter goes straight into the pressure tank FIRST! The way it is now the water will go to the lines that are being turned on/used BEFORE the pressure tank knows the water has been turned on. Also could've dropped the filter & made a straight line to the pressure tank rather than that extra turn. For every turn & connect slows the water down & possibility for a leak. Also why so many cutoffs? A cutoff under a cutoff (where your water hose connects) . Also what did he use to connect the line to the pressure tank? 🤔 I couldn't see it well. No hate AT ALL. Love you guys & have followed from day one! Just curious.

    • @LacroixCruiser
      @LacroixCruiser Před 2 lety +2

      For the pressure tank, it’s a dead end ( water doesn’t flow through it), and according to the instructions it can be mounted in any location in the system. Being a liquid under pressure, the pressure is equal in the whole system.

    As a Texas Licensed plumber,at 7:53 it's best to install the hose bibb before the house filter and please install a backflow preventor so you will prevent a cross connection and so you won't contaminate your fresh water, you can also buy a Hose bibb B.F.P.

    I envy your creativity and strength to convert your bus into an RV. Buying a twenty year old bus or older like yours for a conversion is not expensive, but the RV conversion and mechanical overhaul must cost a fortune, I'm guessing over hundred thousand dollars. Wouldn't it be a better option to buy an existing converted used motor coach? Yes I'm aware it would cost over $100,000 or even over $150,000.

    • @LacroixCruiser
      @LacroixCruiser Před 2 lety +2

      The advantages of doing it yourself are many, but principally, the layout is exactly as you want it, you know how it was built, and you can decide what is important for you.
      Buying someone else’s conversion ( DIY or professional) is a big risk. As for costs, ours cost us around 75,000$ to build

    • @Rehabit8
      @Rehabit8  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Kaz Goz. I second what Lacroix Cruiser said. I don't have a final cost yet but it will be under $100,000 for sure. Our design is so specific to our life, the only reason I could fit my pilates studio in was because we built it and designed the bus around it and many other features.

    When I do my build, I'm going to be alone. That's why I'm thinking of a box truck or a 7m school bus. However, if I can do it, I would prefer a bus. A bus will be like a mansion for a single guy like me but if I can, I will. I'm a bit of a nerd and I will have multiple monitors in it, or maybe a single 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark
