    You can use a Shockwave Blade with the protector on a rifle...
    So if you have an AR pistol and put a 16 inch upper on it, there you go...
    Not an SBR.

      Remember that the ATF loves technicalities.
      Technically if you purchase a “virgin lower” (one that has never been built into either a rifle or a pistol, you can build it up either way you wish into a rifle or a pistol.
      But, you can not switch back and forth as you see fit.
      Yes you can put whatever length barrel you wish on a pistol, but you can not convert it to a rifle.
      Thus, you can not just put a 16 in barrel on your pistol with the shockwave blade, and call it a rifle so you can put the SBP on it.
      You also can not use a virgin lower, build a rifle out of it, decide that you would rather have a pistol (so that you can put a sub 16 in barrel on it) and convert it to a pistol with a sub 16 in pistol as instead of making it into a pistol you will have technically (in the eyes of the ATF) instead made an SBR.
      This is why it is also always wise to make sure that if you purchase a stripped lower, that it really is a virgin lower. As then you can make it whichever you want, either a pistol or a rifle, but even then you still can not switch back and forth. The ATF keeps track as to what form of weapon is attached to a certain SN, pistol or rifle, or neither if it is still virgin.
      I had a friend a few years back who purchased a stripped lower that he was unaware had originally been built and sold as a rifle. He built it into a very nice pistol, decided that he was bored with it and tried to sell it to a gun store as part of helping him pay for a new rifle that he found (a beautiful condition M1911, not an A either). A few days later the ATF showed up on his doorstep wanting to talk to him about manufacturing and selling an unregistered SBR.
      It turns out that when the gun store was running the serial number through the ATF to make sure that it was not stolen, they listed it as a pistol, and the ATF’s records has that sn as having been manufactured and originally sold as a rifle.
      Thankfully the ATF agents were actually pretty cool and willing to work with him that he had in good faith purchased what he believed was a virgin lower. But this could have ended up really screwing him over for the rest of his life as well as made him a felon, thus stripping him of his right to own firearms at all.
      All on the technicality that a firearm can either be a rifle, a pistol (or an SBR, with the right paperwork), but can not be switched back and forth once it has been made as one or the other.
      Yes they will never know what one does at home with their lower.
      I just wanted you and others to be warned that one technically can not do what you are suggesting,

      This is the same reason that you can not purchase an off the shelf, fully assembled, full size 870, for example, and make it a PGO with a sub 18 in barrel without it technically becoming a SBR.

    The laws on SBR and SBS especially the constructive possession are stupid as hell.
    What if somebody owns a rifle or shotgun and has a hacksaw or pipe cutter in their tool box? That could be constructive possession yet I don't see plumbers that own a rifle or shotgun getting charged.

    Technically if you own both an AR rifle and an AR pistol you have constructive possession because there's nothing stopping you from moving the brace off of the pistol and putting the stock on it from the rifle. So to say that having a piece of rubber is constructive possession is a load of crap.

      So you’re saying that, the hundred of thousands, perhaps millions of Americans who have a compete AR15 and and an ARP, could be charged with “constructive possession?”

    If it's illegal to modify the brace, modify your shirt. Shooting jackets have been around for years. There's companies that make shirts with a gel pad in the shoulder.

    I can't believe anyone would pay for a tax stamp just to put that on. Go to the range, put it on, shoot, take it off, go home. Leave it on at home if you want. Does the ATF hang out at your local range? No, they don't, and most cops are clueless when it comes to SBR laws.

    Really at this time in our country the atf is worried about your ultra deadly 10" ar "pistol" and a stock on it? What about Isis and north korea but no when my shotgun is 2" less than what it's supposed to be its suddenly an extremely dangerous weapon never mind that shortening any gun's barrel makes it weaker and less accurate.

    Does it matter ? The ATF cannot make laws. There is NO law that says how you can and cannot fire a weapon. The ATF can only write regulations to existing law. The problem is people bending the knee and giving precedence for Traitors to make a law.

    There is no federal constructive possession laws for sbr's
    Just keep the upper and lower receivers apart when transporting to and from your shooting spot and use whatever stock you want.

    lets be honest, whatever the stated "puropse", this device makes the blade functionaly a sholder stock, by your reasoning you could put any stock on a pistol and just say it was to help it stay propped against a wall. I agree that the whole SBR/pistol thing is a BS law, but it is a law, and this device is clearly intended to skirt that law.

    While l agree that it's unfortunate, this is obviously designed to be a pad for shouldering a brace. Let me also say I think the NFA should be abolished. I am certainly not agreeing with the ATF on this. Or anything else for that matter. I'm just pointing out the fact that it's blatantly obvious this product is an attempt to skirt a law that shouldn't exist in the first place.

      Chris Heath I agree NFA should be repealed. That said, this product serves no purpose other than to function as a shoulder stock. I hate the "lean it up against a wall" argument as well. I don't lean my Walther or glock up against a wall. I'm all for AR pistols, I have one, with just a foam cheek pad on the tube, works great, and is enough of a screw you to the NFA that I don't need a "brace"

      Sean Flipflop lol it's not taking away rights, the NFA did that long ago. It's simply recognizing that this device can be only one thing, a stock, and as long as an SBR is defined by a rifle with a barrel under 16 inches, then this type of product will be illegal. Has been since the 1930's.

    The way I see it: Altering the brace is one thing... adding an accessory to it is another. Either way the ATF can suck it and I hope to see the NFA repealed in my lifetime. GOD BLESS

      Because "braces" are pretty much exclusively used as pseudo-stocks for AR "pistols" and 12 or 20 gauge "firearms" so why does the ATF even give a shit at this point? There's better braces that work exactly like a stock out right now but they simply are more expensive than the blade. The ATF backed down and let us use braces as stocks again because they literally cannot legally enforce what they were saying before without getting sued out the ass and having to deal with legal fees. A bunch of people called them out on it and risked jail time on the basis that abusing the brace and placing it against your shoulder does not redefine it's original intended purpose any more than hammering in a nail with the back end of a screwdriver redefines its purpose. They can't enforce any of this crap. They basically just say no to stuff they don't like until a bunch of people break the "law" and they realize they might have to go to court with their nonsensical bullshit so they back out. So just slap that fucker on your blade and wait. Guarentee the ATF wont even know or care. Is a cop gonna stop you at the range and ask what's that on your gun? Are your fellow range mates gonna know and turn you in? Come on

    Gun owners really piss me off with their eagerness to comply with unconstitutional laws. The ONLY reason these laws are enforceable is because people accept and comply with them in mass. If every gun owner decided to have the balls to stand up for themselves AND each other, the NFA would disappear really quickly.

    I agree with you saying the ATF sucks and so does the NFA but let’s be honest. anybody with any common sense would be able to see what the intent was here, leaning it up against a wall? get real. You had to see this coming a mile away and so did IC13. The whole pistol vs SBR thing is ridiculous and it should go away, but just step back and look at this product and tell me that it wasn’t designed to make the blade more comfortable to shoulder.

      The NFA exceeds Congress's authority under the Commerce Clause, even without the Second Amendment its still Unconstitutional. A $200 transfer tax in 1934 is the equivalent of a $2,854 tax today, on top of fingerprinting and permission from the local head of law enforcement per NFA Item.
      The Constitution outlines that Taxes are Voluntary and cannot be used to undermine law, liberty, or Citizens Rights - The Registration System of Firearms is Unlawful. If you are required to pay a tax and get a receipt that is, in effect, a license. They can simply refuse to take your money and issue you a receipt -- therefore, no license, and you are prohibited from owning them and they have done just that in other areas (New Jersey comes to mind). It is worth noting that 2A says "shall not be infringed". It does not say "shall not be prohibited", a Tax can be an infringement. Imagine if the tax wasn't $200 but it was $10,000 - that would make owning a Firearm listed by unobtainable for the masses.
      Any law, bill, legislation that is unjust, Unconstitutional, and approved by the people should be seen as "Null and Void".
      “The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and the name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void and ineffective for any purpose since unconstitutionality dates from the time of its enactment and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it; an unconstitutional law, in legal contemplation, is as inoperative as if it had never been passed … An unconstitutional law is void.” (16 Am.     I have it on my pistol and I use it when I go shooting on private property. Just be smart about it. Keep it off unless you are shooting the pistol. If you carry in a vehicle obviously leave it off. I have a feeling it will get over turned. Add on do not modify a brace. Why is it that you can put a saddle on a brace but not this plug? They can't keep this up forever. Times are changing.

    I strongly hate the atf. They should be abolished. That being said, they exist and have authority and yea putting that padding on your blade undoubtably turns the stabilizing brace into a stock.
    When the brace first came out the atf said yellow light and everybody blew through that intersection with stuff like this, so of course they turned it into a red light. As a lawyer I know why their rule is unconstitutional, but as a rational adult I also know why they have changed course.

    Honestly this one is a step to far, I get it. Stated intent is one thing but this is %100 designed to make the brace more comfortable to shoulder.       For the most part, ATF field agents are gun people too, but they enforce the regulations their superiors come up with. What we actually need to do is elect legislators who will tackle the issues with the ATF, come up with actual laws regarding what is and isn't a weapon, regardless of barrel length or stock design, and make the ATF enforce that, not give the ATF leadership carte blanch authority to make decisions on their own. They are a regulatory agency, not a legislation agency. That's the job of elected legislators. If they do THEIR job, then the ATF would have defined boundary's within which they are to operate.

That’s why we have issues like having to settle for a pistol stabilizing brace, just so that we don’t have to ask the ATF for permission every time we want to travel out of state with an SBR (short barrel riffle) or check in with the ATF every time we move. That’s ridiculous. Also their reasoning behind barrel length is so that it cannot be easily concealed. So therefore I feel having a concealed carry permit should totally destroy that bullshit law of theirs. If you can legally conceal a pistol, then why not a SBR? We need to fix problems like these. They don’t want us to have a tactical advantage, and that’s simply it. I support law enforcement, but I do not support tyranny. Besides that criminals can just simply purchase a pistol length barrel, and put it on an AR15 or just buy the whole pistol upper and install it illegally. Because there’s no laws preventing criminals from purchasing weapon parts. Only the lower receiver they cannot buy. Also I wonder how much ammunition is bought, and used by criminals. They are looking in the wrong direction. They need to take the magnifying glass off of us law abiding citizens.

    It wouldn't be constructive possession if you had the two at your house, that would be like saying you can't have a stock and a pistol at the same house. The blade with the protector attached would be considered a stock, so you could put it on a rifle and it would be a stock but if you put it on a pistol then it's illegal.

    Is the NFA unconstitutional? Probably.
    Is a felony for possession of an unregistered SBR ridiculous? Yes.
    Have pistol braces made it so that I don’t really need an SBR? Also yes.
    Stuff like this won’t repeal the NFA, braces will. Braces point out the ridiculousness of the NFA and form legislative power in numbers through mass legal ownership. Stuff like this just rocks the boat and will get the atf to reclassify braces so that we regress our current situation.

    It would be better to have an adjustable length of pull on your SBR. I'm sure you know this, but for those who don't. Bending your trigger pulling arm to an angle that allows you shoulder a pistol brace. Is likely to make your arm cramp. Also if your not using a red dot sight. For instance your using your back up irons, or a magnified optic the eye relief will be wrong. In a gun fight or a comp. your going to be tensing up your arm and it will cramp over time.

    first the endplate was intended to help keep ar pistol from sliding when standing up against wall or a rack or in gun cabinet or safe second the endplate is not perminatly attached to shockwave pistol brace like by screw its only held in place by O-rings wich means easly detaches by pulling off or can be detached by getting caught on something

    I purchase a Shockwave Blade last year and a buttpad you are talking about. I purchased the buttpad on eBay that was made on one of the new printers. It was very simple and was designed just like yours except being all plastic without the o rings to keep it in the blade. I was concerned about the legal aspect of the buttpad and sold both together. The buyer agreed about the legal aspect.

    You can have possession of that. Why couldn't you use it on a rifle? If you had that on a gun with a 16 inch barrel, you wouldn't be breaking any laws. I think that would make a nice lightweight stock for a light contour barrel AR rifle. It would make a super light rig. If possession of this itself makes you a criminal, you could not own an AR15 rifle and an AR15 pistol at the same time. Otherwise the possession of the collapsible stock on the rifle lower, that fits the pistol upper would make you a criminal. I own a shotgun and a hacksaw. Possession of the two are not a crime. As long as I don't cut the barrel off below 18 inches, I am not breaking the law.

      The law isn't about how you use the weapon. It's about WHAT the weapon actually is by the letter of the law. You can shoulder a "pistol" because it doesn't become a rifle in the eyes of the law by the way you use it. Hence, the "protector" is deemed a "remanufacturing" of the shockwave blade and thus creates a new weapon which is an SBR in the eyes of the law.

      nrm3247 a lot of indoor ranges (atleast in my state) have range Nazi's that look over your guns. When I went shooting with my friends at their local indoor range, the range officer nearly shit his pants when he watched me install a suppressor on my AR. Halted all shooting and made a scene of it. When I handed him a copy of my paper work, he sat down and read over it. Dude acted like I was trying to get caught with a fake tax stamp. When he was all said and done he hovered around me the whole time I was there. Needless to say I am never setting foot in that facility again.

    I know everyone talks about this 'shouldering' issue a lot, but can anyone cite one prosecution from the ATF for it? I have never heard of one. I have never even heard of a stand alone 'constructive possession' arrest or citation. What I have heard is this law, and others like it, are there to use as "secondary" citations or arrests ... meaning, once they arrest for a larger, more offensive, violation they will tack on secondary violations like "constructive possession" of a 2 oz aluminum asshole cover for your AR pistol brace. My point? We might be making too big of a deal from all this. But, what do I know.

    The ATF’s 2017 letter says that their letter from 2015 was misinterpreted. As of now, in 2019, the ATF says “incidental, sporadic, or situational use” of an AR-15 pistol’s arm brace as a shoulder stock isn’t illegal.
