@@sterlingattaway5225 honestly, the melee moves is one of the things that made the game a lot more fun. I like that they expanded it in re6 but it didn't make up for the game being a trainwreck in general. Too bad they probably won't be bringing combat back since resident evil is returning to it's horror roots (which I'm not at all disappointed about since it's better that way, but the combat was pretty fun)

Chris Redfield has a boxer style of fighting. Sheva has a surinamese kickboxing style/karate, Jill has a Muay Thai/Judo fighting style, and Wesker has a Krav Maga/MMA style of fighting.
Wesker krav maga? Did you looked at those kicks? I think he has been practicing taekwondo
Jill’s is closer to kickboxing than Sheva. They both have kickboxing combos tho. Wesker is a hybrid of Wing Chun, Taekwondo and Karate

Back in the day, it was so awesome when you came across a good duo on Mercenaries! I used to get some pretty epic matches with people doing stylish melees and some impossible last minute combo saves. I got endless hours of pure fun gameplay with this mode on my PS3 :) Very nice video!
Every now and then, I feel like jumping in for a good co-op merc play. Pulling of ultimate melees with my partner was especially satisfying.
I legit spent weeks 24/7 with my friend on this game trying get perfect score with over 150 combo legit this mode is almost better than the game it self;
Legendary games never die, not even 10 years later ^_^
I one time had this epic moment where me and my friend was just going ham with the melee combo. It was awsome. Was with berry and i think wesker? Been a while
Once in awhile me and my younger bro would play coop mercs in PS3, it's just fun. Sometimes we'd ucky when we encounter decent players in online.
You should’ve added Boulder punch combo to Chris’ melee Arsenal.
Chris can punch a boulder to make it move... Punches Wesker in the gut multiple times and gets no effect

There’s something about these melee attacks that make them so epic and badass. It’s the cinematic camera that shakes during the animations. It really adds that extra oomf into the impact of the moves. Which is something that’s missing in RE4 remake and it’s mercenaries mode.

I love how Wesker knows he's badass even when taking hits from Chris.
It's only when chris gains ground after blows or even causes him to flinch is when he gets pissed.

Some of the names of his moves are references to some fighting moves. Tiger Uppercut = Sagat, Street Fighter, Jaguar Kick = Adon, Street Fighter.

I find it funny that Chris has the weakest attack damages overall in the game unless you use his back hand and haymaker and be with a special partnered to have some of his moves altered for increase damage

When compared to Sheva she is like 50 damage shorter, although her impale is stronger but that's cus she uses a knife
Also same to Jill, she's 50 shorter but her double moves deal more damage

In the meaning of STRENGTH, Jill is lower than Chris, but when we say skills, she has more technics than him of course.

Despite re6 having a bigger main cast(I think) this one had better melee animations tbh.

say waht you will about re 5 being a departure of the roots that made the series grea(RE 1 HD is my favorite to this day) but playing mercenaries and roundhouse kicking zombies with friends was fun as hell.

All things considered, RE5 was a really fun, solid game. The thing that detracted from the overall experience was the turret sections and linear scripted campaigns where you and your partner simply had specific roles to play.
If the co-op concept was more along the lines of Outbreak where your partner could be anywhere in the entire campaign instead of both players forced in the same instance; I believe RE5 could've set a new gold standard.

I think its main problem was being a clone of RE4 with better gameplay/graphics and different protagonists. But I have to admit, second to RE6's mercenaries mode, I love this one's. I sort of wish they had Leon,HUNK and Claire included as well for it.
I'd also like to point as someone who's played RE5 and RE6 both COOp and alone, if you play alone the AI becomes the most annoying thing. Makes one miss Luis Sera even more lol (Wish he was in mercenaries too)
@@7_Siete i agree with you when it comes to the coop in story mode in RE5 and RE6. It's better when you have someone to play with. When you're on solo, you're AI partner is sometimes dumb AF, i spend more time healing them and looking after them.
But in my case RE5 has the best mercenaries mode, i still play it once in while. Many playable characters esp Wesker. The only thing i liked about RE6 mercs is that you can shoot the time bonus rather than spending precious moments just to melee it.
@@Kaye.Bueno. Yeah playing No Hope alone in RE6 made me hate Helena.
My preference for RE6's mercenaries comes from the mobility the game gives you + the counter attacks, I really like the mechanic of +10 secs on counters. RE5's require a bit more skill imo, still lots of fun.
I will be forever cursed by my fav characters having the worst loadouts (BSAA Jill I'm looking at you)
@@7_Siete RE6 has quicker pace for me than RE5. You really have to be good in timing with those QTEs.
I prefer BSAA Jill than the battlesuit one tho. But my top faves where Midnight Wesker and Sheva Tribal
@@Kaye.Bueno. I find RE5's so much harder maybe I'm just that bad lol, the combo doesn't last long either and dodging blows is really hard for me.
I prefer BSAA for her looks but battlesuit's sniper works better to down the tougher enemies.
I really liked S.T.A.R.S Wesker and BSAA Jill, haven't really played much anymore though.
Chris had to get gassed up for his role in 5, bc of that ass-whuppin he took against Wesker at the end of Code:Veronica.
