- I've been wanting to do some sketches and plan out what I would or 'would have' worn to a Halloween party or such. (if that were doable) but since its looking like none of us will be going anywhere, I can still find joy in drawing it!
I filmed this before I heard about the 'Inktober' drama. So I do mention the challenge in this video. I have decided not to participate specifically in that challenge throughout the month. but as you will see, I will still be doing a lot of tone/ink/black+white drawings on this channel all October long. Cuz I've been looking forward to this month for a while and it is how I've always seen Hyacinth and Sage illustrated. I will, from here out, refrain from mentioning the challenge and bringing attention to it. My choice of art supplies is not meant to show support of any specific person, practice, or ideology. The ultramarine colors were less pigmented because ultramarine is a transparent and weak pigment
So in the hunger games, it would be the first pigment to die?

Ehh the weakness of the ultramarine blue is more because it is a suspended, liquid medium which is not recommended for heavy or granulating pigments. Though the ultramarine pink is a general weak pigment.
I also wouldn't say that ultramarine is transparent, more semi-transparent because of how heavy the pigments are. This is also why Schmick's ultramarine finest is more transparent than other ultramarine blues.

Honestly, I didn’t even bother trying to design or look at Halloween costumes this year, but I did do a Halloween Minecraft skin and then drew that. (It’s a Minecraft CZcamsr :p)

Hey Rin!! So basically to get rid of those weird streaks, u basically have to keep your sketchbook at like 30 degree angle or so, so all the ink drips start flowing downward due to gravity giving u an even flat wash. Also I recommend while keeping your sketchbook at an angle, try filling your brush with enough ink and then start moving your brush horizontally from the top to the bottom, refilling your brush every time u start running out . I hope this helps :)

Me and my sister celebrate a whole week of Halloween, very cleverly called “halloweek.” We have one day where we carve and paint pumpkins, another day where we make Halloween and autumn themed baked goods, one day where we dress up and do a photoshoot, one day where we get together with our two favourite cousins and dress up and play games, one day where we go to a murder mystery and dress up as a pair of heroes (which we can’t do this year I guess), we kind of fill in the other two days with whatever events pop up. We watch a Halloween-ish movie almost every day of halloweek and on November 1st, we destroy the pumpkins that we painted on the first day 😊
Why does that pumpkin-destroying sound so satisfying to me? xD

Nilima Chilhate Thanks so much!! I know what you mean about finding time though. Sometimes things get in the way of our original plans, but either way, it’s definitely nice to tell yourself that you deserve just one week of the year to feel like a kid again.

I love raggedy Anne and Andy. My sister and I had the dolls when we were kids.
Tip :get more yarn than you think you will need and get the medium or bulky to get that chunky look that is like the doll but a bit more propionate to a person.

i think it counts still! it doesnt have to be just like monochrome ink, thats just what most people do :]
grab a ballpoint pen and like a sharpie they work well. That’s what I’ve been doing and it’s at least a weird different medium than I normally do so it’s a fun change of pace
same! What I do is I get ink of of old markers, and mix with water. Or mix paint with water. Just mix something with water to fake it lol. I used tea to paint an inktober drawing so
I do witchtober instead, inktober is cute but I need to improve with the supplies I already have.

i would love to see you wearing this costume, im especially intrigued by how you would attach the yarn to your hair- if you're not comfortable with a face reveal you could always blur out your face or something (although im sure you look lovely) ofc it's your choice, no pressure, i just think it would be great to see!

The raggedy ann doll's dress reminds me of a dirndl! A dirndl is a traditional german dress. I love the costume, it reminds me of oktoberfest :))

Sometimes with some paints you have to swirl inside of them with something, cause shaking might not be enough depending on the pigments.

Rin I just want to say thank you so much! I drew a lot in middle school and I was pretty good at it but my life got extremely busy and I fell into a sort of art block and I haven’t drawn since. It’s been about 3 years since I really sat down and tried to draw. As a sewist Halloween is my favorite time of year! I love figuring out what patterns would work for what and what to add! I sat here watching you design and thinking about how to sew that, lol. I made my kids costumes and am starting mine soon. The older one will be Grookey, and the younger one’s birthday is on Halloween so he’s going as a pumpkin!

I remember visiting my relatives in Michigan back in the early 90's and I drew some Raggedy Ann and Andy's for my nieces birthday present. I did not know of her birthday before my trip so I had no present so I just made her drawing and she was so happy! I was a real hit! Easy to do and she was quite the doll collector and this was her first picture of her own dolls! Thanks for the reminiscence Rin! Oh no plans might even leave the porch light OFF to discourage any tricker-treaters, Sad huh?

@@LabraDoodleDraws I am sorry to be a partypooper but it doesn't matter if you learn French or German. If you are dyslexic, and I am too, you will mess up even your own name. So don't be scared, French is a language you can find logic in, and each language needs practice anyway. So go for it.
