    So true. I did one and now I’m finishing my first year of med school this May. It’s like Dr. Webb said though, you have to look for one that has a linkage to their med school. That way your hard work pays off when you rank high in your class. However, if you’re not willing to give up almost everything, and dedicate yourself to being one of the best, you’re wasting your money.

    My plans are to do a post-bacc program next year. I have wanted to become a doctor since I was a child. I truly believe that I will be taking the longest road there since I will be 53 when I start the post bacc program. My ultimate goal is to become an anesthesiologist. I am aware that it will take a goo 10 years since I am coming in with a Masters Degree. Have you ever hear of anyone starting their medical school career in their early 50's?

    Hey Dr. Webb, great video about Postbaccalaureate programs. Actually before medical school, I had the privilege to be apart of 2 different Postbacc programs, the first being a 1-year non-degree program part of the UC system and the second being a degree awarding 2- year program in Georgia. As a parent going through these Postbacc programs and now as first year medical student in Georgia, I can truly say I would not be where I am without the guidance and mentorship that I received from my Postbacc program advisors. So if your viewers have any questions about postbacc programs I would be happy to share my experience. Again love your videos and continue to share your journey.

    • @RealSamsonKing
      @RealSamsonKing Před 5 lety +2

      The issue for older students is this. Your college GPA of a 3.0 from the early 2000’s won’t be good enough for the linkage programs. So you’re left with certificate programs with part time and adjunct professors so it’s very much self study. Getting an A in the science courses after 2 plus decades since you’ve seen chemistry in high school is a huge challenge

    Dr. Webb this video was ok, but you could also mention that Post Baccalaureate programs are also for people who already attained a Bachelor's in another field an are returning to focus on areas of sciences needed to get into medical school. It is designed for persons that may not have taken the essential courses in math and sciences that are required for medical school entry. Overall, the program is good for students of all ages and will be the roadmap leading towards medical school.

I saw yesterday your plan on paying for your MD debt in 2 years with a specialty in spine surgery, it was great! But I happen to have a passion for orthopedic pediatric surgery and their income is almost half in comparison to a ortho spine sub specialist according to google/sources I researched, which makes it hard to pay 600k in MD school debt in the same period of time. Could you please help me understand why it works out this way even though it’s an ortho. surgery specialty?

      Lazaro Perez they calculate your sGPA (Science GPA) and your cGPA (Cumulative Gpa). So the answer would be yes.
      Some programs allow for grade replacement, others do not. If you have a weaker GPA it’s probably best to aim for a high MCAT score to settle the difference.
