  • Hey guys, this is our 300 2 stroke dirt bike shootout, I wanted to do this video for a long time. We got 4 different 300 2 strokes from different eras, we got TPI 300 2 stroke, we have carbureted 300 2 stroke, we have non counter balanced old KTM bike, we have original GASGAS 300 2 stroke ... this should be fun!! Cheers!

    The old Gasgas is the new Rieju and getting parts and everything else that Travis mentioned is no problem at all... I have a modern husky and I have the new Rieju... KYB suspension vs. WP.... carburetor versus TPI... Rieju for the win...

    Nice video, I love the snappy power of my 2013 ktm 300, newer bikes feel too smooth and linear power 4 stroke like power delivery, which for hard enduro is perfect, however where I live we ride alot of faster sections between the hard enduro sectioms so the newer bikes feel less fun to me, and why I haven't sold it. As far as what is the best, they are all great bikes just different strokes for different folks. Just ride and enjoy it

    Nice video! I love randy, older riders are so smooth on the trail. I have a 17 ktm 300 xc-w (just gave to my 16yr old son) and a 19 husky 300 tei. At first I thought the 17 was way better, but then I used map position 2 on the 19 and wow! 👌 she lugs, and she is crisp. Little boggy then explosive on map 1. Not exactly sure what that does...But I Love the 300's! Thanks for the videos!!

    Interesting video. My 16 TE 250 is or was very snappy, here in the northeast we have mostly tight, technical trails(and mud 😐). So I tamed the bike with lower gearing, eased the PW and an FMF Gnarly pipe. Now it does just fine with power right off idle

    I think the balancers on the 2stroke ktms have made a big difference, they are nearly vibration free , even compared to me 350 4banger they have less vibration, as for tpi u love it or hate it but thats what they will all be in the next 2 years. Ps I love tpi.

  • @ShawnBlais
    @ShawnBlais Před rokem +1

    Cool video, but seems like what was missed was how tunable the old models were. Mild map should take the edge off the hit, or you could switch to yellow or green springs, or even back off on the power valve adjustment which will flatten out the top end as well. Would've been really interesting to swap in the yellow spring half way through the day, and see how it feels compared to TPI.
    Seems like this gives the edge to the older models though, you can easily tune for trail in 5m by swapping springs if you don't like the hit, but then switch back to red spring for wide open stuff.

    Great video! Is the 2012 slovakian build so snappy because of the Rk-tek head or is it just the nature of that bike?
    I wonder if for example the 2017 XC carb bike with a Rk-tek head would be as snappy as the 2012 bike?

      I want to add it does have some quirks.. for me too much stuff on the handlebars.. it's actually wired for turn signals.. if you want to get rid of the headlight and tail light then the speedometer doesn't work but the speedometer does not have a hour meter nor does it keep track of average mph.. the map switch is very very easy to knock into the rain map but you just take it off The handlebar and believe it or not you put it on the radiator hose ( yep really) and then it's out of the way and no worries... It comes with so many top shelf components.. oh yeah and the starter button is on the left and the kill button is on the right.. 😄🤘🤘
