Handong, Dreamcatcher's Chinese member, was in China competing on a survival show when Covid broke out and all visas were cancelled. She was in China for a year, but got back in time to appear in Odd Eye, the third song in the trilogy. Her place in Scream was taken by one of Dreamcatcher's choreographers wearing a mask.

Well, she is from Wuhan, her visa was from Wuhan, other places in China even had a better chance of returning sooner, but as she was from Wuhan her visa was completely banned
I started getting into K-Pop during the lockdowns in 2020, like a lot of people I think, and a few months into it CZcams recommended a song called Scream from a group called Dreamcatcher. I was blown away and immediately fell in love, started looking at their past stuff, and it was amazing, too. I've been a fan ever since and they quickly became my ult group, not just in K-pop, but in all of music. I've never found another group that has their diversity in sound and quality of execution across their entire discography. Combine that with their storylines, excellent MVs, and a commitment to always bring powerful messages with their art and they're one of the best that's ever done it, in my opinion.

Same like me, but the different is that my mother (yes, MY MOTHER) first knew about them and recommended this song to me. Since I'm a die-hard rock fan, I always searched for a Kpop group that "at least" put a rock theme into their music. When I heard this song, OH MY GOD😂
And the rest was history
Scream references the witch burnings of medieval times as a metaphor for the internet mob. Boca is about present day cyberbullies. Odd Eye is set in a future where the internet and social media are so dominant and sophisticated that people have lost the ability to distinguish truth from lies.

Loved your reaction, glad you are getting to dreamcatcher. This group has a lot of lore (storylines) with their title tracks. And i believe you hit the nail on the head when you were giving your thoughts on the song and what it was about. One thing i want to point out that in this MV during the dance scenes, you might have noticed there were 7 people, however the 7th person is not the 7th member who was missing from Boca, she was still absent from this one as well, that 7th person is one of the dancers wearing a mask. The 7th member does come back during Odd Eye (3rd part). I hope you get to react to all their songs soon, as i said so much lore, tackling issues from nightmares, cyber/social bullying, to climate change

About Dystopia Trilogy: This trilogy talks about Cyberbullying and the power of language and how it can hurt someone if used in a negative way. It portrays their attempt at facing the Dystopian reality that is hidden in the world of social media. The center of the story is the tree of language that is turning black due to negativism after the curse of the evil language was released (depicted as opening Pandora's box in Scream) and the light provided by positive words fade out. The order of the title tracks is: Scream (Hear no Evil) - happening in the Past - Fantasy vibes Boca (Speak no Evil - Boca is the Spanish word for mouth) - Present timeline Odd Eye (See no Evil) - Futuristic vibes M/V: Now some info in the Scream M/V itself: The dancer with the mask on is reserving the spot for Handong. (stuck in China due to CoVid so she was neither here, nor in Boca)
About the M/V First you mostly see the members wearing white, that is their pure uncorrupted form and they gradually take on the black outfit after waking up to new world of hatred. The masks otherwise represent anonymity provided by social media. 5:53 is when Gahyeon breaks the container of the curse and negativism starts spreading (Explosion around the tree) It is also shown that this has happened some time in the past and negativism is ever since part of our society. (5:56 the ancient texts light up) 6:01 they point fingers at her for doing it. Similar to their other M/Vs (Like Deja VU) the storytelling is not linear. In Scream the members are already wearing black but still asleep at the beginning 0:58. ("My covered eyes are stained with blood") 2:50 shows the loss of the white form. There is even a transitioning outfit with JiU with White on top of black 2:53. The purple fog with the evil words 3:03 is the curse basically, the scenes with purple with black outfit are the corrupted areas. We see how the spreading works in the bridge when Siyeon is still wearing white 6:08 while the other six members are already in black and around the now corrupted tree (purple) and they walk away from her wearing some black already and in 6:26 she wakes up wearing black. It is also important to note that one of the important message is how the "Please I don't want to scream" turns into Siyeon eventually singing "I just want to make you scream", meaning that basically negativism corrupts people turning them from victims to perpetrators. 6:34 "Dami: and one by one everyone becomes crazy". And finally now all of them wearing black walk away.

I like the lyrics directly translated as "It's not fun for me at all. For whom? Someone, please tell me"
Either the Witch Trial or online bullying, the victim mostly don't know what their fault in the first place

Yes, Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.

only 6 there too, their chinese member handong is only missing in the 2 videos(among korean title tracks) you checked out 😅. she was able to come back to korea after travel restrictions eased in fall 2020. in any case, dreamcatcher likes to mix up their music so their discography really spans across all genres. some songs are straightforward, others a mash of many genres but one thing that is imo unique to them is they almost never revisit the same genre/sounds used in previous songs. as a result, almost all their songs are distinctly different from each other. boca infused elements of raggaeton while as you mentioned scream had edm. they are known for using rock/metal in many of their songs but often use different aspects of it. dreamcatcher literally has a song for everyone 😄
