Same here. There's always something to be said about the freshness and innovation of the initial experience, which is what people who start their Borderlands journey with the second game always forget.
Hell yeah good luck getting at 100% of Borderlands franchise with the dlcs before you start playing Borderlands 2 with the dlcs play first borderlands prequel with the dlcs and then after borderlands 2 with the dlcs play tales of the borderlands and then borderlands 3 with the dlcs

That's pretty much the plan, yes, except I'll probably do The Pre-Sequel after Borderlands 2 (in order of game release, not actual chronology).
